Thinking about this. Of course, we know that name, but for the character it would be something like ”whatever Mr Eaten used to be”. But…imagine this happening. After a long, protracted battle of wits and luck, the mysterious newcomer defeats their last opponent and wins the final match. The game is finished. “What is your heart’s desire?” Slowly, deliberately, the stranger stands, and removes the mask and coat they’ve been wearing the entire time, revealing that their face and body are emaciated and heavily, hideously scarred. And the scars are not random, oh no, not random at all. Those gathered start to mutter nervously. This cannot end well.

The new victor speaks calmly, but is heard through the whole room, and maybe farther. “What the Drowned One was,” they say. “Bring it back. Restore it. Undo what you have done.”

Well. (No pun intended.)
