It's ABOUT the uncertainty, it's about "what factors contributed to this?" and not being able to come up with a definitive answer. And what it's really about, and what the show is about, is that you see yourself in these characters and somewhat understand and can even relate to their desires because who doesn't fantasize about the taboo (not necessarily incest but you get the point) and that makes you uncomfortable.

This show was written to make you uncomfortable by showing you the flaws humans can have. And often these flaws are related to desire and that makes us uncomfortable. "We're not supposed to want this" etc.
