"Hearts not parts!" > everyone else only cares about their partner's genitals, making me more virtuous
"Pansexual means I'm attracted to trans people too!" > no one else could ever love a trans person because they're a special Other category that you need to include instead of just being men and women
"I'm more comfortable with the term pansexual." > I don't give a shit about the history of the term pansexual and I am actively trying to erase bisexual history. I spout transphobic and biphobic bigotry disguised as "wokeness" and I don't even realize it, or if I do, I simply don't care. I value the warm, fuzzy feeling I get more than the history and goals of LGBT people and what they have fought for decades to accomplish.
"I don't see gender." > I am making an effort to ignore something that is pretty integral to a person's identity.
"I need to get to know someone before I have sex with them." > I think I am Unique and Special. I am more pure than those filthy, sex crazed bisexuals who will sleep with anyone. I am incapable of comprehending that most normal people desire emotional connection to a person they're sleeping with.
"I identify as pansexual." > I am no different from someone who is bisexual, except that I'm more special because my internalized biphobia makes me think bisexuals are icky.
"Let people identify however they want!" > I have not thought critically about the impact of this because I don't care about anything beyond my immediate surroundings.
"It's not hurting anyone." > I have likely read many accounts from people who have been hurt by my label, but I am choosing to ignore that because thinking critically about it makes me uncomfortable.
"Pan means all and bi means two." > I'm not clever enough to realize that there are only two kinds of attraction: homo (same as me) and hetero (different than me). I am also actively ignoring the meaning of the purple stripe on the bisexual flag.

Remmick, Ryan Coogler's vampire in Sinners, is written so well. You have a white, Irish vampire from the time of the colonization of Ireland by the english who is trying to deal with his own loss and 'hunger'. He wants to use Sammie. He wants to take away Sammie's music, his tradition and to use it for his own gain.
We have one more white oppressor who presents himself as a saviour. He inflitrates a black community, coming with the promise of... equality, community and freedom from death. But those promises come to fruition in a very specific manner. Remmick is the leader, for all the equality he promises. HE is the one who sets the tune the rest are singing. HE is the one whose pain is felt by every member of this 'community'. Every person that is turned connects to him in a hive-mind of collective memory and experience that HE controls and is able to use to his own convenience. Moreover, this is a collective that does not exclude the KKK-alligned family that was part of the plan to slaughter an entire black community.
Remmick represents a seemingly politically correct, predominantly white globalization. He presents himself as well-intended. He may even BELIEVE that he is. But what he offers is the death of individuality, of culture and tradition.

I must not reply. Replying is the mind killer. Replying is the little death that brings total annihilation. I will let people have their wrong opinions. And I will permit people to comment them on my posts. Their wrongness will pass over me and through me. When it is gone only I will remain. And I will not reply.
People in the White Lotus tag turning into lawyers trying to put the blame on the drugs or the older brother or the parents or the younger brother -
Y'all are just looking for a scapegoat because you're looking at incest and finding it uncomfortable. And that's the point. It's ABOUT the uncertainty, it's about "what factors contributed to this?" and not being able to come up with a definitive answer. And what it's really about, and what the show is about, is that you see yourself in these characters and somewhat understand and can even relate to their desires because who doesn't fantasize about the taboo (not necessarily incest but you get the point) and that makes you uncomfortable.
This show was written to make you uncomfortable by showing you the flaws humans can have. And often these flaws are related to desire and that makes us uncomfortable. "We're not supposed to want this" etc.
Stop defending them in court, they're you
