this is amazing
the suffering never ends
kind of experiencing this as an author. drafts are out of hand and my calculations were BAD (as to how long the story would be as a whole)
fanfic authors b like ‘haha this chapter got a little out of hand it’s a little longer like 60k words’
babes that’s a novel. you wrote a novel.
its so funny to me like. who comments so formally on any platform? 🤣 gramar and punctuation on point, no emojis
also its kinda weird that they retaliate when the only consequence of their actions is being called out and nothing more :/ its giving cucaracho 🪳
Just a heads up, there are bots going around on AO3 accusing people of using AI. Considering the timing, this is likely AI bros' retaliation for AO3 users calling them out for scraping their work. Examples of what you might be sent:

💚💜 A gangster au with lots of romance and smut in which Taehyung and Jungkook have to explore their feelings in secret until Taehyung gets fed up with it and becomes a mob boss himself.

i thought i imagined dead doves suddenly being posted mostly anon, but now i guess this new wave of fanfic authors thinks their boss is going to magically find they are "babygirlgoku" on ao3 or sth
also, dead doves are art, dont like dont read, etc 🧏
"you don't post your dead dove fics on anon?" no, all of my dead dove, dirty, disgusting gay smut are posted on my main. I have no shame. normalize a girl being a pervert and a sex-crazed freak
Applying this for bts would be like:
• The driver - Jimin
• The instigator - Taehyung
• The voice of reason - Hoseok
• The distracted one - Joon and Kook, for sure.
• The observer - Yoongles
• The Wild Card - Seokjin
bts dynamics are so fun irl already, they're amazing to write in fanfic istg
This one's for the scenes with multiple characters, and you're not sure how to keep everyone involved.
Writing group scenes is chaos. Someone’s talking, someone’s interrupting, someone’s zoning out thinking about breadsticks. And if you’re not careful, half your cast fades into the background like NPCs in a video game. I used to struggle with this so much—my characters would just exist in the scene without actually affecting it. But here’s what I've learned and have started implementing:
Not their literal job—like, not everyone needs to be solving a crime or casting spells. I mean: Why are they in this moment? What’s their role in the conversation?
My favourite examples are:
The Driver: Moves the convo forward. They have an agenda, they’re pushing the action.
The Instigator: Pokes the bear. Asks the messy questions. Stirring the pot like a chef on a mission.
The Voice of Reason: "Guys, maybe we don’t commit arson today?"
The Distracted One: Completely in their own world. Tuning out, doodling on a napkin, thinking about their ex.
The Observer: Not saying much, but noticing everything. (Quiet characters still have presence!)
The Wild Card: Who knows what they’ll do? Certainly not them. Probably about to make things worse.
If a character has no function, they’ll disappear. Give them something—even if it’s just a side comment, a reaction, or stealing fries off someone’s plate. Keep them interesting, and your readers will stay interested too.
