Further 'Steve plays D&D' shenanigans.
He plays in what the party call 'baby's first campaign', the off tangent, more chaotic and lighter campaign that Eddie's running.
He doesn't play properly, because he has zero interest in D&D at all. Eddie lets him get away with it, which everyone else finds unfair, but 'tough shit kiddies, DM's word is law'.
Steve's only character requirement is that he always has 'the bag thing' (aka the bag of holding) and mostly uses it as a weapon. Annoying NPCs, enemies or fellow party members? In the bag they go, and in the bag they suffocate. Only worthy enemies get to be killed by his sword.
He doesn't remember character names or races, instead giving them a nickname and number. (ie frog guy 1, frog dude 2). Jeff and Lucas pick up on this immediately and join in.
At first he doesn't know which of his dice to use and when. Eddie gets used to just handing him the right one...so now Steve automatically holds his hand out whenever he needs to roll. (It's much quicker.)
Once everyone knows that he and Eddie are dating, he openly and blatantly tries to negotiate re-rolls for kisses during their smoke/snack breaks (and sometimes things written down on scrap paper that makes Eddie's eyes go wide). It works most of the time, and the kids hate it, even though it works in their favour.
Steve and Eddie clash only once, when Steve's first character dies early on. Eddie hands him another character sheet, very similar, and Steve immediately names him the same name. Eddie tells him no. Steve argues for a while before looking him right in the eye and changes just the first letter of his name instead (ie Rob instead of Bob).
Steve has zero connection to his character. It's just a fun game to him, but the others take it way, way more seriously. Open the booby trapped chest? Sure, Steve will do it. Drink the potential poison? Why not! Eddie will just give him a new character if it goes wrong. There's no actual consequences, unlike the Upside Down stuff.
Everything is a NAT roll to Steve, not just 20 and 1. Nat 4, Nat 8, the whole lot. Dustin hates it so damn much.
He tries to get as many NPCs to join their party as he can, mainly so Eddie can be 'part of their team' too, instead of 'just playing the bad guys'. Eddie tells him that's not how it works, but Steve's insistent.
In combat Steve WILL waste his potions of healing if one of the party annoyed him recently. Gareth was once rolling death saves, and Steve ignored him to heal a non fatal wound on NPC #24 instead. Gareth nearly walked out, but Will took pity on him and healed him on his turn.
It's a completely different atmosphere to the 'serious' campaign, but that's what makes it more fun. Even though Steve's main goal is to annoy the rest of Hellfire and prove that their nerdy game is supposed to be fun, they don't seem to actually mind.
In fact, they love it when Steve argues back with Eddie. None of them will do it, but the DM threats just don't work on Steve. He had to roll disadvantage all night? He rolls shit anyway. Threats to kill his character off? Steve doesn't care.
And on the other hand, flattery, flirting and outright bribery works so well on Eddie that it's kind of pathetic. Steve knows that Eddie wants him there and takes full advantage to get what the party wants.
Eddie refuses to let him join the main campaign because of it.
This is the Dog of Protection.
Reblog and you’ll never be forced to reblog anything you don’t want to ever again!
I’ve talked about this before on this blog but this is the most disgustingly transphobic and lesbophobic narrative I’ve ever come across.
CWs: transphobia, homophobia, lesbophobia, corrective rape, voyeurism
The book Adam by Ariel Schrag is being turned into a movie which has been named as one of the most exciting LGBTQ films of the year. You should know before watching that the book is about a cis boy who pretends to be a trans man in order to persuade lesbians to sleep with him.
Yeah… you read that right.
Book plot summary:
boy spies on his lesbian sister having sex
boy decides to pretend to be a trans man (gross)
i.e. pretends to have a vagina because he thinks lesbians will want him then (he literally wants to fuck lesbians because he watched his lesbian sister have sex wtf)
he does get a lesbian to sleep with him, he straps his penis down using ace bandages and uses a strap on.
all the actual trans dudes we meet identify as lesbians this basically implies that trans men are not real men (lesbians i.e. women)
another time they have sex again only he uses his actual penis but tells her its a strap on. that’s literally rape, she didn’t consent to an actual penis.
he confesses that he’s been lying to her this whole time but she doesn’t break up with him. she even says its okay cause she fantasised about him being “a real boy"
that’s a direct quote. massive transphobia. huge. not to mention this is now the “lesbian is cured by dick trope” which is disgusting and that trope leads to real lesbians and bi women being raped to “fix” them.
he leaves new york, they’re long distance. they get in an argument and he calls her a slut and a whore among other things and then she dumps him
eventually they get back in touch and she has a new cis boyfriend so yep, she’s been “cured” woo she’s actually straight and he helped her realise that yay (massive sarcasm)
It is deeply deeply transphobic. To imply that our identities are just costumes for other people to put on erases who we are as people. More than that, to imply it is done to trick people into sex is a dangerous lie that literally gets us killed.
It is also deeply lesbophobic. To fuel this narrative that lesbians can be “fixed” by having sex with a man leads to real corrective rapes happening.
Here is a review of the book by a trans man. I have yet to find one by a lesbian but will edit this if I do.
This book gives out incredibly harmful notions about trans men and lesbians that are used to hurt them in real life. It’s so entrenched in the narrative that I don’t see how the film can possibly be any better.
I do not say any of this lightly. it’s very very rare for me to call out a piece of fiction or for me to decide that a story is unfixable. But this… there’s no excuse for the bigotry in this.
I’d like to tell people to boycott it but I can’t tell you what to do. So instead I’m going to ask that you share this because it being named as an exciting new LGBTQ film is going to make LGBTQ teens want to see it. And they should know beforehand how hurtful it could be. They should be able to arm themselves with that knowledge.
Don’t make queer kids see this film believing it will represent them only to be exposed to this hatred of their identities.
Please reblog.
In case you’re having a bad day
Thinking about Eddie and Steve’s D/S dynamic.
Specifically about the small ways Eddie would Dom Steve in their daily lives. Like pulling him closer by his belt loops when he strays too far. Eddie ordering for him when they are out to eat because he knows what Steve is going to order anyway. Telling Steve to remember his manners in a way that everyone thinks is a joke but makes Steve squirm in his seat as he says “Thank you.” Making Steve hold his hand whenever they cross roads or go somewhere new. Generally just always finding excuses to touch Steve, touches always seeming to be placed where bruises and rope burns hide under his clothes.
King Steve who presents as an omega and gets shunned by most of the school because of it. His parents aren’t home to help with his transition and he has no pack, no friends nor followers anymore.
He falls from his place atop the high school hierarchy in a matter of days.
And then he’s just alone.
Steve shows up to school, does what he needs to, and leaves without interacting with people any more than he absolutely has to.
He quits all his teams and secludes himself, resigned to being alone in every way imaginable because of his designation.
And then he catches a scent he likes one day.
He doesn’t mean to be weird about it. But someone’s scent— their very essence— grabs his attention and he can’t help but crave more.
It’s intoxicating.
And normally, Steve might have more restraint, but he’s been ostracized from other people and his inner omega is begging for comfort, for the scent of a stranger whose biology is crying out to his own and he’s drawn in like a moth to a flame.
So Steve goes looking.
He keeps catching traces of the scent, but it takes a while to pinpoint the exact source since there are so many people in the school and he doesn’t get too close to anyone.
But he finds it in the place he’s least expecting it to be. The old picnic table behind the school is practically covered in it.
So Steve waits there.
Basically has his face pushed into the old wood, trying to pick up whatever traces he can. He wishes he could maintain some of his dignity, but that went out the window a while ago when he started trying to track down a stranger for their scent like a lovesick pup.
He’s so lost in the comfort, in the feeling of safety and acceptance, that he doesn’t hear the arrival of a second party until it scares him.
“Harrington? What are you doing out here? I thought Tommy normally collected your party favors. Or— wait, are you even doing that shit anymore?”
Eddie Munson. King of the Freaks. Resident drug dealer of Hawkins High. More importantly, an alpha.
His alpha.
This is whose scent he sniffed down like an unruly bloodhound.
Shame rushes through him fast and hard, nearly knocking him off his feet. Luckily, he’s caught by someone with faster reflexes than his own because his balance is iffy after his little round of intoxication off a scent.
“Whoa there, Steve. You sick or something, man? You had your head down a moment ago, maybe you should sit for a minute,” Eddie suggests kindly, leading him back to the table and sitting right next to him.
Steve immediately leans into the side, probably getting too close and in Eddie’s personal space, but he can’t help it. The older boy smells so good that it’s actually ridiculous. And he’s weak from it. Practically drunk.
A whine of distress leaves his throat without his permission. It’s horribly embarrassing, but Eddie just wraps his arm around Steve’s waist and gently pulls him closer.
His head lays on the alpha’s shoulder without permission and his body melts the rest of the way into the warm embrace. It feels so good. Better than he’s felt in a long time.
Certainly better than he has since presenting.
Just being held, having someone treat him kindly, like he’s not a waste of space... It’s enough to have him start crying.
“Oh sweetheart… you’re okay, omega. I got you,” Eddie shushes him, scooping him up the rest of the way until he’s being held in the alpha’s lap now.
He buries his face in Eddie’s chest and inhales deeply, no longer caring how this looks. If he’s allowing it, Steve’s going to take every ounce he can get.
“You smell so good, alpha,” he murmurs into Eddie’s shirt. “Wanna stay here with you. Please.”
Eddie looks down at him with a heartbroken expression, but he quickly composes his face, as if to reassure the omega.
“I’m not going to leave you, baby. I think your inner omega is going through a drop right now and you were looking for someone safe to take care of you,” Eddie explains kindly, stroking his long fingers through Steve’s hair and causing him to purr with happiness.
His alpha is accepting him. He’s not going to be sad like he’s been.
“Don’t wanna be alone anymore,” Steve confirms. He reaches a shaking hand up and uses it to pull Eddie’s head down a bit.
The alpha complies easily, giving in to his silent request. It makes it easier for Steve to brush his nose against Eddie’s throat, searching for his scent glands so he can inhale straight from the source.
His head goes fuzzy, but his entire body relaxes. No more tension or pain that’s been lingering in the background for weeks.
Just this. Eddie. Warm, soft, kind alpha.
“Let me get you home, sweet boy. Back to your nest,” Eddie suggests quietly, standing without protest despite the extra weight protected in his arms.
Steve shakes his head, but hesitates to explain his dilemma when the alpha gives him a confused look. Eddie presses a sweet kiss to his forehead and waits for him to speak instead.
“I… I don’t have a nest, Eddie. Don’t have any scents to put in it but mine. Wouldn’t even be worth it. I’m a bad omega,” Steve cries harder and prays that Eddie won’t abandon him for a proper omega with a real nest.
Instead, the alpha gives him the softest look imaginable and simply replies, “That’s okay. We’ll just go make you one then. Now you have two scents for it, baby. Yours and your alpha’s.”

“You are so lucky Steve! You will never have to go through the humiliating process of being presented to society to find your mate! You already have one!”
Steve sighs, he knows that being presented to society is a very stressful thing, but also being destined to a mate you have never seen doesn’t sound so exciting.
The only thing that he knows about his mate is that his name is Eddie that he is the nephew of King Wayne Munson and that his parents were lucky enough to get him engaged with the king's son as soon as he was born.
Something about an eclipse or a premonition or who knows what.
In any case, he is not going to be presented to society like all his friends. He will be kept hidden until the moment the king makes his appearance.
This means no more walking around the castle, no more threats from the kitchen, and no more time in the garden.
Robin is trying on another dress while Steve thinks that all that he will be able to do in the next few days will be staying in his room and staring from the little window in his chamber.
He is an omega, and omega can’t be trusted among so many alphas. That’s what his father said.
He sighs.
A week is not so long after all, right?
***
Three days and he is ready to climb up the wall.
Not only he can’t get out, but he can’t even see the servant and they are giving him his meals on a tray outside of his as if he was in jail!
When his father told him that no one could look at him he wasn’t joking.
He sighs.
Being an omega and being left alone for an entire week it’s almost a punishment. He needs love, and cuddles, and his friends, and at least Robin!
“Steve?” She calls from the garden.
Steve let out a little whimper from his bed, too sad and tired to get up and try to force open the closed window.
“Steve?” She calls again, worriedly, and then she starts to speak with another person “That's his room. Are you sure you can break it?”
An alpha’s voice full of pride replies “Of course I can. Tell your friend to stay away from the window.”
“Steve! Stay away from the window!” She yells, and then he hears a loud crash and sees a big rock falling next to his bed, followed by a curly dark-haired boy.
“Good morning princess, we came to your rescue!”
Steve’s heart starts to beat faster at the smell of the alpha's scent.
“Alpha?” He calls, trying to get up.
“My beautiful sweet omega.” He gets closer, brushing his hair away from his face “What have they done to you?” His eyes shine red for a moment, and Steve lets out a little whimper.
The dark-haired alpha hugs him even tighter, letting him inhale his scent directly from his bond gland.
“You are ok, omega. I’m going to take such good care of you.” He murmurs, still petting him like a scared dog.
“Is he ok?” Robin asks, getting closer to the window and trying to jump high enough to see inside the room.
“He is ok, but he is going to feel so much better when we take him out of this place.
“Alpha.” He calls again while the alpha picks him up like a baby.
Steve keeps his nose deep In the crook of the alpha’s neck, inhaling his lovely smell.
The alpha looks back at the window.
“Robin, do you think you can hold him if I pass him to you through the window?”
“Why? Is he unconscious? Oh my god, he is dead and you don’t want to tell me!”
“He is fine! Just, not in his finest shape but he’ll be ok. We just have to find a way to take him away from this fucking prison.”
They think for a moment and then Robin says “I will check who is supposed to bring him food and see if I manage to open the door!” She yells, running away while the young alpha keeps comforting Steve.
“Alpha, alpha.” He keeps calling like a litany, while he feels his body getting hotter and hotter.
He trembles. That’s not possible! He can get his heat right now and with an unknown alpha! His father is going to kill him.
“No one will touch you sweet thing.” The alpha murmurs in his ear, but when finally the door opens it is not Robin who is holding the key, but his father.
“I knew it! You are such a slut! Like all the omegas! You are such a disgrace to our family! An omega male it’s the worst thing that could have ever happened to our family! And now you are ruined! No one will want to mate a slut omega like you!” He screams, filling the air with angry pheromones.
Steve whines, hiding making himself even smaller in the alpha hold.
The young alpha’s eyes are red with fury “You are making him distressed. You left him alone in this room for days! What kind of alpha are you?” He yells at him, ready to fight for the omega that is clenching at him like a little clamp.
“The kind of alpha who doesn’t know how to treat an omega, clearly.”
Everyone turns and King Wayne Munson is glaring at Steve’s father from the corridor.
“My king!” He says getting on his knees “I tried my best to keep him away from any alpha, but this one was relentless.” He lowers his head “I’m sorry if he is not a good match for your nephew anymore. I will dispose of him! He will get punished and I’ll send in some retreat for broken omegas.”
“You will not do such a thing!” The young alpha growls and Steve’s father gets up suddenly.
“We are going to lose everything and you will pay the consequences as well young man!” He threatens him.
“Come here kid, and bring the omega.” The young alpha gets closer to the king and the man gently brushes some hair away from the omega’s face “How are you feeling pup?”
“It hurts.” He complains, feeling his body getting feverish.
“I’m sure it does but Eddie will take good care of you, you just have to hold on a little longer.”
Eddie, the young alpha, snarls at Steve’s father “What about him?” He asks and Steve stares at him. How could he talk like that to their king?
“I’ll take care of him. Now you have an omega to take care of. Does he have a nest?” He asks looking back at Steve’s room.
“I didn’t see any.”
The king doesn’t seem surprised “ You have to make one for him. I’ll have the servants bringing you some of his blankets. I should have taught you how to make a comfort nest, right?”
The boy nods in agreement and moves to the king’s chambers, the omega still wrapped in his arm,
“We can’t go there.” Steve murmurs “Those are the king’s chambers.”
“Oh sweet thing, you are too out of it, right?”
Steve doesn’t understand what he means so he keeps silent.
“Let’s make you a nice cozy nest and when you feel better we could talk.”
Steve nods, while his body starts to burn from the inside.
“Alpha…” he calls.
“I know baby… I know… just let it go… I got you.” he whispers in his ear.
Steve’s eyes fill with fear.
Feral. He is going fucking feral.
He tries to escape from Eddie’s grip, he doesn’t want to risk hurting him, but the boy holds him tight.
“Don’t worry, baby. You’ll be fine. I’ll be here with you all the time. I will not let anything happen to you.” he assured him.
“But you… if… if I’m going feral…”
“I’ll deal with it pup. Don’t worry. Just try to relax and let it go.”
Steve shakes his head, trying to clear his mind, but he is not lucid anymore.
“Come on. Let it go. I’m here with you.” and finally Steve surrenders to hormones that are making him crazy.
***
When Steve wakes up he doesn’t remember what happened, he just has a few flashes of being cuddled, loved, and fucked out of his mind. And now he is lying, naked, in a cozy little nest, and the alpha, his alpha, is singing in his ear.
“Hello there sweet thing, are you feeling any better?”
He nods, sniffing at the nest that now smells so familiar.
“Did I…. Did I hurt you?” he asks, ashamed, and the other boy smiles.
“I have dealt with worst.”
“I… I’ll always go feral?” he is terrified at the idea.
Eddie hugs him “I don’t know baby. I think that too many emotions triggered your body response and you weren’t ready for it, but I can’t assure you that you will not become feral next time. What can I assure you is that, no matter what, I’ll be at your side.” he replies looking him in the eyes.
Steve blushes and lowers his eyes, and then he looks around him and realizes that they are in the king’s chambers,
He startles but the alpha, Eddie, holds him tight “It’s ok. We can stay here. It’s my room, you know?”
His room? But that means…
Suddenly everything clicks and Steve tilts his head in submission.
“Don’t do that, sweet thing. You are going to be my mate and I’ll treat you like an equal.”
“But…”
“No buts, baby. Now, can you drink something for me?” He whispers, getting a cup close to Steve’s mouth.
While he drinks and eats Eddie tells him about how he had been searching for him for days because he could feel how miserable he was and that his friend Robin has finally helped him to get into his room.
“My uncle has dealt with your parents. They will never see you again if you are not the one asking to see them. And our mating ceremony will be private, not public. And who knows, maybe we will be blessed with a pup.” He concludes by kissing Steve’s flat stomach.
“Is this real? Are you really the king's nephew?”
He nods, cradling his head into his hands “I will repeat everything when you will feel more lucid honey. Why don’t you try to sleep a little more, uh?”
Steve nods, getting more comfortable in his mate’s arm.
He can’t believe that he is going to be mated to the king's nephew, but after he broke Steve’s window to save him, he would have probably mated him even if he was a housekeeper.
