The French Version of “Like”

(In the sense of “I mean like” “You know like”)

We have THREE main ways of saying “like” in sentences, cause we thought “lol why only have one?” They’re used generally orally by an individual, LIKE A LOT (and sometimes written when texting friends)

You will be granted access of me and my best friend’s conversation screenshots in order for you to see them used.

1. GENRE

This one is used the most, including me to the despair of my parents lol.

The French Version Of “Like”

Translation: “like sometimes he’s talking and at some point there was something that triggered him” “like fuck I’m looking at this rock it’s crazy”

2. EN MODE

A kind of “like” used when you want to present a state in which you were in.

The French Version Of “Like”

Translation: “It’s so funny that you thought about what you wrote like oh yeah I wasn’t clear let me phrase it better”

3. JE SUIS LÀ / J’ÉTAIS LÀ

It’s used in the sense of “I’m like” and “I was like”

Translation: “Yeah I was like calm down”

"good work today."

you glance up and off to the side from your squat, panting slightly, to see a tall, well-built man leaning against the power cage you’re stationed at. his skin is covered with a thin sheen of sweat, chest heaving slightly, indicating that he’s just finished one of his grueling workout routines. you would know, you’ve seen his regimen. it’s ridiculous, honestly. you’re halfway convinced that Ushijima Wakatoshi is simply not human.

“thanks,” you let the barbell drop and grab the clean, white towel that he offers you. “i’m sure i’m a mess though. haven’t been in for a while because of work and stuff.”

“i noticed.” Ushijima shrugs off your concerns. “you look very well put together.”

fighting back a grin, along with the strange flutter of your heart that those words elicit from you, you thank him again. this man, honestly. always coming up to you and saying things that no normal person would probably have the courage to say. but Ushijima? no such hesitation. you’ve lost track of the things he’s said to you over the past few weeks that you’ve gotten to know him.

“you have good form.”

“you’ve improved from since i last saw you.”

“you are pleasing to talk to.”

if it were anyone else, you probably would have called them out on it long ago, but it’s Ushijima. he means things as he says them. you’re a hundred percent sure that he has absolutely no interest in you. you’re a hundred percent sure that he has absolutely no interest in anyone, so laser-focused is he when he’s working out. not once have you ever seen his eyes stray towards anyone. you’re probably the only one he talks to regularly, heaven knows why, despite the many women and some men desperate to have him “check their form.”

“so what’s new with you? anything going on in that big volleyball brain of yours?”

Ushijima’s brows furrow at your teasing words. “not particularly. i do have a match coming up.”

“no way, really? an official match?” he nods, intense gaze tracking the way you stretch out your sore arms. “you know, come to think of it, i’ve never seen you play. never seen you actually practice either.”

there’s a short pause. “would you like to?”

you raise your eyebrows. “when’s the game? if it’s soon, i doubt i could snag tickets in time.”

“i can get you a courtside seat,” Ushijima straightens and adds almost reluctantly, “more than one if...you would like to bring a friend.”

your lips twitch at the slightly awkward invite. unable to help yourself, you lean against the cool metal bar of the cage, tilting your head, “tickets to your game? the ones that are notoriously hard to get? and not just that, but a courtside seat? why Ushijima, are you flirting with me?”

you grin at the way his forehead creases, bending down to pick up your water bottle that’s sitting on the ground. “relaaax, i’m just messing w-”

“you finally noticed?”

your hand freezes mid-air in its path towards your face, water bottle gripped tightly in it. a few drops of water splash out before you manage to stabilize it, staring incredulously at the olive-brown haired man in front of you. you have to take some time to process those three words, running them through your mind a few times before coughing. “you- you’re flirting.”

“i am.”

“with me.”

“yes.”

you squint, blinking a few times to make sure that you’re not in the twilight zone and that it is indeed Ushijima Wakatoshi, resident gym rat and volleyball nerd, speaking to you. there’s barely a single coherent thought in your mind right now, everything’s just a jumbled mess. “what? why? who? when? where?”

“since the beginning.” his broad shoulders slump, head cocking to the side. he looks confused as to why you’re confused. “because i’m interested in you.”

a stunned silence settles heavily over the two of you. Ushijima looks patient, just standing there, in no rush to retract his confession or turn away, as any normal person would. it takes a few moments, but you manage to unstick your tongue from the roof of your mouth and clear your throat, heat flooding to your cheeks when memories every single interaction you’ve had with him over the past few weeks comes rushing back.

“um. so when’s the game?”

Hi I'm indy I'm a new follower I plan on going in to computer science! Any advice ?

Hi there! Ohhh that’s so awesome, good luck! Computer science is an amazing subject to study! I was terrified at first because I haven’t had much experience in coding before going to uni, but you’re going to be just FINE trust me!  ✹

đŸ’»  first of all DON’T BE SCARED YOU CAN’T CODE - that’s why you’re going to computer science in the first place, to learn to code. Of course, there’s going to be people who are pro-coders already, but don’t get intimidated by them, find your own pace and just do your thing! They’re probably repeating the year anyway or they transferred.

đŸ’»  I know in computer science you’re mostly like ‘why do I need lectures when I need to CODE not listen about coding’, but trust me GO TO LECTURES - I attended (almost) every lecture possible during my first year and it really made a World of a difference especially if you’re a newbie to all of this! You’ll meet the professors and you’ll know what they’re expecting of you and they’ll probably tell you some funny stories as well. Plus you’ll have more familiar faces on the campus :)

đŸ’»  DO SOME READING - there’s one lecture that I didn’t go to and that was a mistake I tell you. I didn’t go because the lecturer's voice was boring and I was literally falling asleep. But after I did some reading about the subject before the exam I realized his words were very valuable, but unfortunately if you already knew a bit about the subject, so if you have a subject that bores you - do some reading on your own and then go to the lecture. you’ll get much more information out of it!

đŸ’»  CODE AT HOME - after you’ve practiced some skills during the classes, go home and practice them again on your own. Try doing something useful or fun with it. Like make it print out “Yolo” in a circle (I did that, no regrets lmao)

đŸ’»  INSTALL ALL THE SOFTWARE DURING YOUR FIRST WEEK - install all the things you’re going to need during the year on your first week, honestly, please do! It’ll save you time later on. As soon as the professor mentions what you should install, note it down, go home, install it.

đŸ’»  PRACTICE EVEN REALLY SIMPLE THINGS - if you don’t understand anything just type it on youtube and you’ll find plenty of the video tutorials which ARE AMAZING. They helped me a lot with understanding some stuff I couldn’t get a grip of. And I know you’ll find some stuff that you’re like “I don’t need to practice this, this is trivial” IT’S NOT and you’ll get it wrong if you don’t code it at least once, just do it, it’ll take like 30s.

đŸ’»  here are some links which really helped me out and I would recommend checking out beforehand: * c++ step by step video tutorials with Bucky (Bucky saved me before the exam)* learn c++ in one video ( doesn’t really teach you c++ in one video, but there’s some useful stuff especially if you’re new to this) * sorting algorithms with hungarian folk dance (lmao these are really useful, I promise) * codeacademy (here’s just basic coding, but good to start with :) )*  introduction to 3D graphics with Blender ( THE GOD OF BLENDER) and finally:* incredibly realistic wolf animation

HAVE FUN, RELAX AND GOOD LUCK! ✹✹✹✹ Hope this helped!

If You Need Instrumental Dark Academia Playlists To Study With For Finals, These Are Some Spotify Playlists

If you need instrumental dark academia playlists to study with for finals, these are some spotify playlists I made that might help you out the way they helped me

Minimal atmospheric piano that doesn’t sound like it’s taken straight from an alexa commercial. Really minimal, melancholy.

Violin y cello instrumentals for studying and reading: includes soundtracks and some classical music opus.

Minecraft-like ambient exploration suites: soft, creative instrumental ambient sounds

Opera and choral music: if you’d seriously like to feel like you’re studying at a gothic library, then this playlist’s the one for you. Eco chamber-like

Instrumental soft jazz: really soft jams, some of the BGM chanel. Slow ballads to read to.

*Classical music: Background classical piano, violin and orchestal pieces from recognized classical composers for studying the old fashioned way.

Open to suggestions or feedback, I hope these help you out! Push it through!

How to live the jester academia aesthetic in every day life

-your study space is any space. if you feel slightly motivated by doing homework in bed, then do it there. if you need a desk (organized or messy) in order to work, then you do you.

-procrastinate with creativity. got a hobby you enjoy that’s infinitely better than reading some old book that’s not really all that important anyway? spend four hours working on that instead.

-wear literally whatever you want. you don’t need button ups, vests, or dress pants if that’s not your style. a sweatshirt, floral skirt, or ugly ass thrifted hawaiian shirt will do just as well if it makes you happy

-don’t get bogged down by depressing things just because it’s “aesthetic.” thinking about the inevitability of death might be nice for some people, but turning yourself into a moody asshole isn’t good for you in the long run. enjoy happy things, romantic things, as long as they don’t always end in tragedy.

-consume media you enjoy. if you find classics boring, don’t feel obligated to read them. if poetry isn’t you thing, then that’s fine. if you don’t like classical music, indie, etc. blast some pop music in your bedroom or whatever else your into. the interest does not the jester make.

-finally: do your best. don’t push yourself to be constantly searching for and taking in new knowledge. take a break, be mindless, allow yourself to relax until the next time you need to learn something new.

Strong words to use on a Resume

image

If you have ever had to write a resume for work or for an application, then you know the hardest part is figuring out what type of words to use that sound professional and and intelligent.

Example: If an application asks you if you have any relevant experience for a job at a day care center and you have experience, like you have babysat children. You would look at the words in the columns to see what words you should use that will help your resume stand out. You might put down “Have supervised and attended to children on a regular basis.”

I hope this is helpful to you.
