Is it just me or are the new TIME photos giving Marlene Dietrich and Katharine Hepburn?
For the younger crowd, they were old Hollywood sapphics. Huge ass stars of their time
okok. theory. taylor is an astrology girlie. what if she is using this "portal" to reinvent herself in the public eye and be more openly true & authentically queer? 'do you want to know where i was april 29' etc etc
just remembered when i was a kid and singing the she/her "man's perspective" of 'our song' my dad told me i should 'sing it right' with he/him pronouns & i forced myself to change the literal song when i sang it...took me another decade to come out (fkr clocked me (& taylor))
I just realized in The Great War that the “her” referenced in the lines below is The Anti-Hero:
I always wondered who the “her” was because Taylor flips pronouns a lot, but it was one throwaway line. At first I wondered if someone was whispering in her ear to sway her and then I realized… yes someone was, but it’s actually Taylor, herself (the Anti-Hero Taylor).
Taylor thought she was the hero of The Great War but she was actually the Anti-Hero. Her ego took over and convinced her of betrayal and she almost lost her lover because of it.
Oh my god!!???
The thing that is striking me the most about this album is just how messy and human it is. She’s not holding anything back or trying to appear one way or another. She’s just letting it all out regardless of what anyone might say. She found that trying to be polished and keep all the ugly, imperfect, human stuff in to be stifling and just said fuck it I need to do this for me. This album was an exorcism for her.
Bf Taylor... enjoy...
i'm working late....'cause i'm a member of the tortured poets department
I think it’s interesting that she started out this album out by admitting she’s an alcoholic (I know she says “I was a functioning alcoholic” as if she isn’t anymore but once you cross that line of becoming an alcoholic you are never not one, you will always be even if you don’t drink, at that point you become a recovering alcoholic and I know this because I grew up in AA rooms because my father was an alcoholic while he was alive) and how at every football game she was at you could see a drink in her hand or some type of alcohol being sat beside her.. it makes me think that what she didn’t want was to be at those games, but she had to so she was drinking to deal with it.
