Lucid dreaming is essentially becoming aware that you are dreaming while dreaming. While lucid dreaming it’s also possible to gain control over the dream where you’re able to do essentially anything you could think of.

These tips/ steps can be helpful for begginers and people learning to lucid dream but aren’t necessary :) ♡

1. Keep a dream journal, when you wake up write down everything you recall. If you usually have troubke recalling anything at all setting the intention to remember your dreams the night before can help.
2. Do reality checks while awake. A reality check essentially helps your brain recognize patterns in the waking vs the dream state.
3. Simply set the intenion before bed that you will lucid dream.

reality checks
1. Check your hands. Look at your hands, counr your fingers, and look away. Look back at your hands and count your fingers again. Do you have the same number of fingers, does your hand look the same? If not you’re probably dreaming!
2. Check the time. Look at a clock and look away, then look back at it again. Is the time the same? You’re awake. Is the time drastically different? Again, you’re probably asleep. :)
3. Take note of your surroundings. What do you see? hear? smell? feel? taste? Take note of the texture of your surroundings near and far. If you’re awake tell yourself out loud.
Wake Back To Bed (WBTB) - This method involves entering the REM stage of sleep from being conscious and awake.
1. Set an alarm for 3-5 hours from when you go to bed and fall asleep.
2. Wake up to your alarm and busy yourself with a calm activity for 15-30 minutes.
3. Go back to sleep.
Mnemonic Induction of Lucid Dreams (MILD) - This is mostly just the act of specific intention setting to lucid dream by recalling past dreams.
1. Fall asleep as you think of a dream you recently had.
2. Identify some sort of sign or totem you’re asleep. This can be anything that comes across as strange or unusual (anything that doesn’t usually occur in waking life). Acknowledge this sign as only occuring when you are asleep.
3. Tell yourself the following “The next time I dream I will remember/ I want to remember that I am dreaming”, and fully go to sleep.
Wake-Initiated Lucid Dreaming (WILD) - This method involves entering a dream from your waking life. It uses remaining conscious as your body falls asleep (sound familiar?).
1. Lay down and relax your mind and body.
2. Wait until you experience a hypnagogic hallucination (a hallucination that occurs as you fall asleep).
3. Bam, you’ve drifted off into sleep and are now conscious of the fact you’re asleep!

So, now that we’ve gone over the basics of lucid dreaming let’s talk about controlling your dreams (ノ>ω<)ノ :。・:*:・゚’★,。・:*:・゚’☆
“What can I control in my lucid dreams” LITERALLY ANYTHING!! Having a nightmare? Just fly or float away, or literally stop time and freeze people in their tracks. Wanna visit Atlantis and breathe underwater? You can do that too.
how do I control my dreams?

☆ Simply think of what you desire happening!
You can say it aloud, you can think it in your head, and you can literally just imagine it happening and it will.
What is lucid dreaming?: A lucid dream is a dream where the dreamer becomes aware that they are dreaming and gain control over the dream characters, narrative, or environment.
Why is this being posted on this account?: Lucid dreaming could either be used to fly around, etc., but it can also be used to get railed by whoever you want, and since this account is for horny people, I thought I'd share my knowledge. You can also use Lucid dreaming as a way to shift wherever you want, which is the act of moving one's consciousness from this current reality to one's desired reality. If you want, I can get into more detail because Lucid Dreaming and Shifting are two different things.
# 1 Reality testing: Reality checking, is a form of mental training. It increases metacognition by training your mind to notice your own awareness. Here are common reality checks that people use to lucid dream:
Mirrors; Check your reflection to see if it looks normal.
Solid objects; Push your hand against a wall, door or any object and see if it goes through. Some people push their fingers into their opposite palms.
Hands; Look at your hands. Do they look normal?
Time; If you’re dreaming, the time on a clock will constantly change.
Breathing; This popular reality check involves pinching your nose and seeing if you can breathe.
Tongue; Bite your tongue. Does it hurt?
From personal, successful use I recommended doing these (maybe focusing on one) multiple times a day. Whether you wanna put on a timer, put a reminder as your lock screen or just do it whenever you think about it. This will train your mind to repeat the reality checks while dreaming, which can induce lucid dreaming.
# 2 Wake back to bed: WBTB involves entering REM sleep while you’re still conscious by setting an alarm for five hours after your bedtime. You sleep normally, when the alarm goes off do not move too much and set the intention of lucid dreaming. Then fall back asleep.
When you go back to sleep, you’ll be more likely to lucid dream. While you’re awake, choose any activity that requires full alertness.
# 3 MILD: Mnemonic Induction of Lucid Dreams is based on a behaviour called prospective memory, which involves setting an intention to do something later.
Think of a recent dream.
Identify something that’s irregular or strange in the dream. An example is the ability to fly.
Think about returning to the dream. Acknowledge that the dream sign only happens when you dream.
Tell yourself, “The next time I dream, I want to remember that I am dreaming.” Recite the phrase in your head.
This is a great method to continue a dream you recently had and got woken up from.
Hello my loves! I post about shifting quite often but I've realized that not everyone knows how to shift. It's actually very simple! Trust me, a full guide isn't really necessary but I know it can be fun to read it out. By the end of this, you'll be surprised at how easy it is!
First, what exactly is shifting?
Well, there are actually a lot of theories! There is no solid answer because that'll change based on your own personal beliefs. In its simplest definition, shifting is shifting your awareness to a different reality. The belief of shifting requires you to believe in other realities, regardless of how you think that works.
What are some key terms?
DR- Desired/Dream Reality, WR- Waiting Room, CR- Current Reality, OR- Old/Original Reality, Methods- a process to help you shift, Safe Word/Action- A word/phrase that you say or an action that you do that shifts you somewhere else, most often used to shift back to your CR or WR.
How do I shift?
It's very simple! The intention to shift is all you actually need. Methods, scripting, meditation, and all that other extra stuff are just tools that you can use to shift. However, it's important to remember that they aren't necessary. You don't need them at all! All you need is an intention to shift.
So how do we do that? How do we just set an intention and shift? Again, it's very simple!
By definition, intention means, "a thing intended; an aim or plan". Deciding to eat an apple when you're hungry is an intention. Deciding to wake up at 8 am is an intention. Don't overthink this! Literally just making the decision to do something is how to set an intention. And then decide to follow through with that plan.
I know it may seem difficult, maybe even confusing - I completely understand. Whenever you want to shift, simply decide that you're shifting. Tell yourself that you're going to shift no matter what! Trust in your ability to do that. Shifting is easy! People have been doing it for hundreds of years, so trust me when I say you can too. Set the intention by making the decision to shift and just let yourself go. Try to trust in yourself and in your abilities.
What are methods?
A method is simply a process you do to shift. They can focus on visualizing, feeling your DR, focusing your mind, etc. Oftentimes methods help you feel more relaxed and help you focus your attention on your DR/WR so you can shift easily. However, it's important to note that they aren't needed to shift. Always remember, it's not the method that shifts you, it's you. That's why some people will shift instantly using the Raven Method while others never do. It's all about the person!
For specific methods, I recommend searching "shifting methods" and finding one that looks interesting to you!
Some important things to note about methods:
You don't need to do it exactly the same way as other people (change them to your heart's content). If you like a method but a specific part seems boring or uncomfortable, just don't do it. Trust me, changing a method won't affect how well it works because
Every method works well.
If a method doesn't work, it likely has to do with your mindset, not the method itself (because again, all methods work).
No method is stronger than another, it's all about the person using them.
You should ideally be using a method that makes you feel comfortable. Don't force yourself to use one you don't like just because other people have had success with it.
Time Ratio
Your time ratio is essentially how time moves while you're in your DR/WR. If you were to shift with no script/intentions, time would pass normally while you're there. So if you shift to your DR and you stay there for a week, when you shift back to your CR a week would have gone by. If two months pass by in your DR, two months pass by in your CR. Time essentially moves at the same pace in both realities!
However, not everyone wants time to pass in their CRs so to avoid this we can script/intend a time ratio. This ratio can be anything you want! For instance, if one year passes in your DR, only one hour passes in your CR. With this time ratio in mind, if you've been in your DR for one year, when you shift back, only one hour would have passed (so if you shift at 2 pm, when you shift back it would be 3 pm). You can also script/intend that no time passes while you're shifting. Pretty cool right?
This time ratio is often used by shifters to avoid missing things in their CR however, it can be flipped to make time move faster! For example, if one week passes in your DR, 1 year passes in your CR. People don't do this as often but you can do it!
Mindset
Do you need a good mindset to shift? No? Does it help? Yes.
Your thoughts about shifting are important! Do you think shifting is hard to do? Do you think you need methods? Do you think you need to be 100% relaxed and have no doubts to shift? Do you think you need to meditate, affirm, and count to 100 multiple times a day?
All of these things are called beliefs and, as most of you probably know, sometimes beliefs can be limiting. As in they literally limit you from your full potential. Now, it's perfectly okay to have doubts and limiting beliefs and you can still shift while having them. However, if you find that you have difficulty shifting, it's likely due to your mindset and potential limiting beliefs. When you have the time and energy, go through what you know and believe about shifting. Is there anything up there that could be discouraging you or even outright stopping you?
How to have a good mindset?
Know that shifting is inherently easy and that you can shift easily whenever you want
Believe that you have a good mindset
Work through any limiting beliefs you may have
Know that you can still shift while having doubts and limiting beliefs
Know that you can still shift while having a "bad" mindset
Don't put shifting or your DR on a pedestal
Know that you don't need to do anything special to shift (you don't need to meditate, script, count, drink extra water, etc. you just need you).
Scripting
What is it and how do we do it? Like everything else that involves shifting, it's pretty easy!
Scripting is a way to visualize and plan your DR. It's not necessary; you do not need to script. You can write out your script anywhere! And you can be as specific or as vague as you want. Scripts are personal so don't worry about it being perfect. It's literally just a tool to help you shift! You don't need it, it doesn't have to be perfect, and it doesn't need to be aesthetic or organized. Just write down whatever you want to include about your DR!
Scripts often include details about your DR and DR self. It can also include points on safety, relationships, rules, specific moments, etc. But again, please remember that this step isn't necessary and you don't need to add all of this even if you do make a script.
I'm going to be posting a more detailed guide on scripting soon and I'll link it here when it's finished. For now, stop worrying so much about all the fine details, and just let your mind flow! You can script however you want!
What are clones?
Please read these two posts first! TLDR: clones are you. It's your consciousness, your body, you. Clones are honestly named very badly. They aren't an actual copy of you and as such you don't need to worry about them doing something you wouldn't. They are you. The term "clone" is merely describing the process through which your physical body and mind still exist in your CR while you're shifting somewhere else. It's essentially you on autopilot. You know how your DR self already exists and is living their life even though you're not actively aware of that reality yet? It's the same thing with clones! They're just yourself in your CR when you're not there. But they are not a separate person and you'll never have to worry about them doing something horrible or weird. Your clone is you.
Affirming
Affirmations are phrases that affirm something to be true, often repeated to really drive the message home. You do not need to affirm to shift, however, it can help you to shift, build confidence, and have a healthier mindset toward shifting. You can say them in your head or out loud, and you can say them once or however many times you want.
Some common shifting affirmations are: I have shifted, I am shifting, I am in my DR/WR, Shifting is as easy breathing, I am 100% in control of my reality, I am a master shifter, I give myself permission to shift, Nothing holds me back from shifting.
These are just some examples, you don't need to use them and you can change them if you do. Affirming should feel natural to you but it's okay if you feel awkward at first (a lot of people do).
LIFA App
The LIFA app is an application that can appear on your technological devices and anywhere else you want (journals, closets, mirrors etc). It's a tool used by shifters with a lot of different features! You don't need to use it, it's just an option.
Like I said, it has a lot of functions but it's most commonly used for manifesting, editing, scripting, shifting, finances, relationships, and checking in on your clone. Shifters mostly use the LIFA app to make their experience in their DR better. You can use it to manifest food, change your outfit, edit your script, shift somewhere else, etc. Really it can be used for anything you can think of! You can also script/intend that no one in your DR can see it except for you.
Quick questions
Can I still shift with doubts/limiting beliefs?
Yes! 100% yes!! Tons of people have shifted while having doubts about it. You can go through practically any social media site and half of the success stories start with "so I shifted even though I wasn't trying/didn't believe". It's 100% possible so don't worry too much!
Can I get stuck in my DR?
No! Just like you can't be stuck in your CR, you can't get stuck in your DR.
What is a waiting room?
A WR is literally just another reality! People tend to use it as an in-between shifting experience however, you don't need to. You don't need a waiting room at all!
Waiting rooms can be anything you want, ranging from a simple bedroom to a full blown city. Anything you can imagine! You can shift there to relax, work on scripts, hang out with friends, shift to other realities, etc. Literally whatever you want :)
Do I have to visualize?
No. You don't need to do anything! You just need the intention, that's it.
How do I shift back to my CR?
You can use a safe word/action, set the intention, or even do a method. The act of shifting back is the exact same as shifting to so just do whatever you want!
What are symptoms?
Symptoms are more often than not just your body falling asleep while your mind stays awake. That's basically it. Not every shifter will experience them and they aren't "necessary" or even a sign that you're shifting. It's literally just a physical sensation of your body falling asleep (even if you're doing an awake method!). So don't panic if you don't experience symptoms, they're not a big indicator.
How to motivate myself?
Honestly, that'll change for everyone. My advice would be to remind yourself of why you want to shift in the first place. Do you want to live a better life? Or maybe just go on a fun adventure with friends? Every reason is equally important and I find that it's a big factor in keeping yourself motivated to shift.
You can also think about your DR/WR in more detail; what you like about it, what you're excited to experience, who you want to hang out with, etc.
Can I script this/shift here?
Yes. You can script whatever you want and go wherever you want. There are no exceptions to this!
Can I shift permanently/do I have to come back?

Do I have to fall asleep to shift?
No. Like I said before, you just need the intention to shift. That means you can shift whenever you want, however you want. You don't need to be asleep or even relaxed!
Extra tips?
Have fun with it! Shifting should always be fun so if you find yourself getting really stressed or upset, either take a break or assess why you're feeling that way and try to solve the issue if you can. But most of all, have fun with shifting!
Be easy on yourself! It's okay if you don't shift on your first try. Always assume that you will shift but don't beat yourself up if you don't.
Don't compare yourself to others. Even after consciously shifting for the first time, some people end up comparing themselves to other shifters. This happens even more often with new shifters. Comparing your shifting journey will just make you feel bad and inadequate. This kind of goes into the "have fun" tip. Anything you could do that makes you feel bad or demotivated just isn't worth your time.
Try not to worry too much about intrusive thoughts. They can't manifest because you don't actually want them, therefore, you won't accidentally shift somewhere you don't want to. I recommend repeating the phrases, "I am safe. I am protected" until you know them to be true if you're worried about safety.
Figure out what works for you! Some people prefer sleep methods while others prefer awake methods. Some people have 50 page scripts while others have one sentence written on their arm. Give yourself the time to figure out what works for you and makes you comfortable.
Never take no for an answer. Don't let failure be an option. Failure isn't even in your vocabulary! Adopt the mindset of a master shifter and you will be.
Alright... I think that's it? This post is super long holy shit I didn't expect that when I first started it. Most of this is just technical mumbo jumbo anyway. Remember! Shifting is easy! You've done it before a million times and you'll do it again! Conscious shifting is also super easy. If you assume that shifting is hard, then it will be. If you assume that you can't do it, you won't. Always assume that you can shift, that you are a master shifter, that shifting is the easiest thing in the world (because it is!).

Like Ah Yes, I guess his healing aspects, his power over nature and vegetation, him being the god of fruit, the fact that he can be interpreted as asexual, etc etc just don’t fuckin exist
I don’t talk about my actual worship on my blog all too much. I don’t consider it the most important thing to share — I prefer making Information accessible. That’s always been my goal as academia can be a horrid beast and I myself am neurodivergent.
When it comes to keeping a formalised weekly worship schedule: I can’t. However, attuning my worship to the celestial gods helped. Helios is my father figure and I know when he sets. The lunar calendar simply makes sense to me, so Selene guides my month. Eos is always there too, beginning the day. They help me keep track of time when I struggle with understanding the passage of time.
Keeping track of the celestial siblings is one way I adapt my worship. The coming of Nyx in particular is what I keep in my mind.
When Helios sets, I try to give an offering to one of my many gods. It’s something small that keeps my day together and attuned to the day/night cycle. The small aspect is something I wish to stress — it’s usually a small libation with a quick prayer. These small offerings keep my worship going in a decently consistent manner. It also works extremely well with the sheer amount of offerings I wish to give to the many, many gods I worship.
For example, these are small offerings I’ve given at sunset:
Water, juice, etc.

Other Foodstuffs
Another good time as inspired by Hesiod’s works is to give an offering before going to sleep. Doing this provides structure and the ability to pray for a multitude of things. I know some who do this and pray to Hermes for good dreams, to Sleep (Hypnos) for good rest, etc. It’s also a great time to give offerings in general — I love giving offerings to Tins before bed.
Personally, I do this in particular for Dionysus. Every night I try to give an offering to him. My ambition relentless, I want to be a damn good devotee. Also it’s just something that is appreciated by both of us. I don’t ask for much before I sleep however — I usually just offer it and say thank you to Dionysus. He is most lovely.
There’s also the offerings I give at random. Nothing can stop me from randomly getting up, washing my hands, grabbing an offering and then just giving it. Worship anxiety that prevented me from doing this before has long since left. If you can, try to give a random offering. Just remember your own limits. Don’t force yourself to get up when you’re having a bad day with your chronic illness, for example.
Another example is more small offerings at mealtime. Leaving a small portion of your food if you can is another small way to worship. This is historical. Leave out a small portion of your meal or even cooking ingredients if you can. When cooking, feel free to offer some olive oil to Athene, Hestia, the Agathos Daimon, etc. Small portions are good, small, and quick offerings.
Juice is a personal stable of my own praxis. I craft my own juice weekly from various fruits, berries, etc. My life would legitimately be drastically different without it (though that might be the Dionysus devotee in me talking). The ingredients I use will influence which god will get a cup of the newly-crafted juice. When I use pomegranate, a cup of the product goes to Hera. Pomegranate has been a small but important part of my relationship with Hera, so its a nice and small way for me to connect with her. I know this part of my praxis will definitely not fit with most, but I hope it is inspiring.
Giving small offerings at certain points is beneficial to my praxis, especially with my relationship to Helios that makes me particularly aware of the oncoming sunset. Offerings don’t have to be a big, fantastical event. Just do it and give them a small libation or two. Offering at random points isn’t bad. It’s a good system and find what works best for you.
Study is an important praxis of my and other’s praxis. Sometimes all you can do is read. When offerings get hard, research is all you can do. This isn’t applicable to everyone — but it’s an important part of many people’s praxis. When I get slapped with depression or my other mental problems get bad, there’s always a pdf there for me to read. Personally, I don’t need a screen reader but I’ve seen those used to help others.
Ultimately, take charge and don’t let anything stop you. I have learned that pressuring yourself and negatively comparing yourself to others is counterproductive and taking charge is the way to go. Find methods that allow you to succeed and run with them. You will do amazing.

METHODS —
everything you need to know about shifting methods :) remember that different methods will work better for different people. the MAIN KEY is that you’re taking care of yourself and having patience!! trust the process; you are more tyat capable of shifting! these methods will get you to your desired reality in no time! :) i recommend listening to subs, meditation audios, and guided meditations to help you!! remember to listen to subliminals throughout the day for better results and quicker progress.
THE RAVEN METHOD ;
one of the most popular methods i’ve seen. it’s a sleep method and requires steady concentration as well as lots of focus.
METHOD PROCESS: Lay down on your back in a starfish position (at least make sure that none of your limbs are touching). Once you’re as comfortable as you can get, feel yourself melt into the ground. Focus on your breathing and relaxing yourself; Fix your concentration on your DR. After you’ve gotten yourself into a calm and focused state of mind, start counting to 100 slowly. In between every number, give yourself affirmations and think of your DR. What will you feel once you’re in your DR? Who are your friends? How capable are you of shifting? Remind yourself that you’re strong and completely capable of shifting! Don’t focus so much on the present. Don’t worry so much about getting there, focus your energy on what it’ll feel/be like once you get there. Once you count to 100, keep giving yourself affirmations and start visualizing your DR as you fall asleep. Drift off as calm as possible. REMEMBER NOT TO MOVE AT ALL THE ENTIRE TIME :,) You should wake up in your DR/WR once you’re done!
MY EXPERIENCE: this method is the one i have gotten closest to!! it is the easiest to understand for me, (after i figured out that i had to fall asleep :,) ) but concentrating is really difficult for me since my mind wonders a lot. i typically use the raven method mixed with a different method to help me shift! :)
THE PILLOW METHOD ;
this method is the easiest to do, it just takes practice and full trust of the process. this is another sleeping method.
METHOD PROCESS: Write a script about your DR, or write out affirmations on a piece of paper and put it under your pillow. (If your script is on your phone, either write on a piece of paper “everything scripted on my phone will happen” or just leave your script open and your phone on) Once your script is set, lay down with your head on your pillow. You can lay in whatever position you feel most comfortable in! Make sure to focus on your breathing first; Maybe follow a guided meditation to keep yourself focused on your DR. After you’ve relaxed, fall asleep while visualizing different things in your DR and giving yourself affirmations! :) You’ll wake up in your DR/WR!
MY EXPERIENCE: i use this method very often. typically, i mix this method with the raven method and also make my own twist to it haha! as i’m falling asleep, what i’ll do is i’ll first list things in thankful for in my CR. after i’ve run out of things to list, i’ll start to list things im thankful for in my DR (sometimes while counting to 100). then as i’m falling asleep, i’ll visualize rooms in my DR and different scenes/scenarios that happen. i show a lot of symptoms when i use this method.
THE SUNNI METHOD ;
this method requires MAX concentration and a lot of visualization. it is a non sleeping method, and also fairly easy.
METHOD PROCESS: All you have to do is sit/lay down in a comfortable position. Focus on your breathing and close your eyes. Imagine your DR, and imagine your CR melting into your DR. What i mean by that is that you have to imagine and visualize different things in your room or about yourself shifting into your desired form. Anything you hear will become something in your DR. Anything you feel or sense around you will become something in your DR. Imagine what you’ll smell and start to feel that. What do you hear? How does that make you feel? What do you taste? What will you see when you open your eyes? Ground yourself in those desired things. Continue this process until you know you’re for sure in your desired reality! :)
MY EXPERIENCE: i’m not the best at visualizing, but i am getting better. i have had progress when mixing this method with the raven method/pillow method, but i have never tried it individually.
THE ESTELLE METHOD ;
this method is similar to the sunni method. it requires focus and visualization as well!
METHOD PROCESS: Lay/sit in a position that is comfortable for you. First focus on your breathing and let all your current worries fade away. After you’ve calmed yourself down, pick a song. This song can be anything you wish. Once you play the song, imagine yourself laying/sitting in a room in your DR and someone from your DR asking you to dance. Throughout the song, visualize yourself dancing with that person from your DR. Once the song ends, or loops, or goes to the next song, the person from your DR will hold out their hand and ask you if you want to go home now. Take their hand, and they’ll lead you to the door of that room in your DR. That person will open the door for you and behind the door will be a white light. Trust it, affirm yourself, and walk through the door. DO NOT OPEN YOUR EYES. While in this white void-like place, keep affirming yourself. You’re so close!! The time you’re in this white-lot area might be five minutes or twenty, but it doesn’t matter! You’ll get there! After a while, you’ll suddenly feel like you’re falling; Like the floor just went POOF! But don’t panic, this means you’re LITERALLY SO CLOSE!! Breathe and keep affirming yourself. After a while of falling, you should feel yourself land on the ground. All you should see is black. (This is the part where people open their eyes too quickly so be sure to be careful) Don’t open your eyes until you know for sure that you’re in your DR. Script that you taste or smell something once you land. You might have to fall asleep once you see black because everyone is different. Once you open your eyes/wake up, you’ll be in your DR!!
MY EXPERIENCE: i’ve only tried this method once or so, but again i’m not good at visualizing. i think i was so focused on IMAGINING the things happening instead of VISUALIZING. there’s a sliver of a difference between the two and i can’t seem to figure it out 👁👄👁
REASSURANCE :
shifting takes roughly 3-6months on average for someone to get, but so many people are breaking that norm. YOU are capable of shifting! you are SO close! you WILL shift, i promise you. i believe in each and every one of you! :) also, my friend who shifted told me that once you fall asleep during the methods, you should see a bright light and immediately shift the second you fall asleep. (it might be different for some people, but that might help you guys to feel more secure in what you’re doing. it helped me! :) )

Hi! I’m writing a fanfic connected to a movie with a lead character who has Tourette’s, and I was hoping you, or some of your followers could help me. As I’ll be writing from the POV of the lead I was hoping someone who actually knows what it’s like to live with Tourette’s and tics could help me. Hey there! I would love to give you my personal insights. Something to keep in mind though; People with Tourette’s Syndrome honestly experience the condition in their own unique way, as is the case with all neurological disorders. Regardless, here’s my tea.
Tourette’s Syndrome has and always will unequivocally define who I am. Everywhere I go, every time I speak, people know that I am not normal. My tics range from physical to motor, and some days I drop tics and some days I pick new ones up. I also have a sub-diagnosis of Tourettes called “Echolalia”, where I will HEAR or READ a certain passage of words that sound satisfying to me and I’ll repeat them to myself. I often play a card game called “Magic: The Gathering” with my best friends and you can imagine how easy I am to beat as I’m sitting there reading my cards damn near OUT LOUD to my opponents as we’re all trying to outplay one another. Lmao
The most misunderstood thing about Tourettes is that people assume it’s literally UNCONTROLLABLE. Like our brains are sending out these random messages to our mouths and hands to do these random carnival acts and that we have no control over it; that’s not true. Our tics are in fact URGES to do certain things. When I squint my eyes and tense my neck up, it was because my Tourette’s caused me to have the URGE to do it. Tourettes Syndrome and OCD are so heavily tied together. My tics are these compulsive thoughts that come to me every 5 seconds and I succumb to them because I know the feeling will return in literaly 5 more seconds.
This is, in my opinion, the hardest part about tics. We KNOW that with the right mindset and focus, we can hold them in. We can control them. The urge literally feels like scratching an itch. You’ve been scratching your arm anytime it itches your whole life, right? We’ve been having the urge to tic our whole life - after a while, we just stop giving a fuck and do it. We consent to the urges and tic. I remember when I was bullied in elementary school, that’s when I would be the most upset... Cause i knew I could avoid the confrontation had I just held them in. “Why didn’t i just hold them in for a little bit? I wouldn’t have been made fun of...” I now understand that young kids are just ignorant and don’t understand. I dont get bullied anymore for my tics, just stared at condescendingly.
Speaking on behalf of all people with Tourette’s, we just want to be understood. We want people to understand that our tics aren’t too far from being relatable - imagine having to burp every 5 seconds, and that’s pretty much what it feels like. You can hold the burp in, or you can let it loose. Once you let it loose though, be ready for people to stare at you as they try to figure out what mindset you’re in. I really hope you can sift through this answer and find some things you can use... Like I said, EVERY person with Tourettes experiences it differently. It’s like depression or anxiety, it strikes randomly and has varying severity. If I were you, I would try to take this knowledge of tics and try to relate it to the character you’re posing as, and maybe you can use preexisting knowledge of psychology to find out the mindset of the character you’re writing as. Thanks for approaching me in a very transperant way as well, genuinely being asked about my tics always excites me because it’s nice to have the ability to talk about them instead of being stared at BECAUSE of them.
Tourettes is a sliding scale
One day you can have very few tics and complete minor tasks with little to no struggle.
The next day you could be incapable of walking up a flight of stairs, holding a drink, cutting food, typing on a keyboard, putting on clothes, driving a car, showering, and unable to breathe normally for extended periods of time.

Especially when I was younger I always wondered how other people could be so calm. When I watched them doing things they never had to tic like I had to. And I envied them so bad. I didn't understand why I could never be so calm.
