A question appeared out of nowhere in my head and l think l have to ask;
Where are the other characters? Poe, Finn, Rose and the new one- forgot her name-
What about Leia, Lando and Chewie?
Well hello there Knights of Ren and Hux, seems like l forgot about all of you there for a while.
Seriously, why the only major 'spoilers' we are having is only Rey and Ben? Other characters don't do anything? Is there no other important scene happening? Why just the ending we are talking?
Idk if you want to be pulled into this so you don’t have to answer if you don’t want but I guess an interview with daisy came out where she said she can’t get behind reylo :( I know actors’ opinions don’t have any effect on the story but I’m confused bc she’s liked reylo art and stuff in the past?? And has said positive things about their dynamic?? It kinda sucks when an actor isn’t on board with your ship that involves their character. Idk I’m a bit confused, curious to hear what you think!
I have like half a dozen messages about this so this is the only one I’m going to answer. so I was super busy yesterday so all I had time to see was brief glimpses of everyone freaking out, and when I finally had time to watch the interview…it’s not even that bad???
she’s pretty clearly using her fake-serious, spoiler-dodgy tone–if you’ve watched enough of her interviews it’s easy to recognize it. she keeps interrupting herself and ends up kind of rambling, so it’s pretty clear she wasn’t prepared to be asked directly like that and probably wasn’t prepped what to say. and she clearly fell back on the devil’s advocate sort of vague non-answer they all do when they get asked stuff like this, and phrased parts of it as what other people think, not her (and honestly “do you know about reylo” is just straight up a pretty dumb question to ask someone who can’t say a single thing about the upcoming movie. like…what is she supposed to say that when she can’t say anything).
and what she did end up saying…she’s clearly talking about as of the end of TLJ, because that’s all the audience is aware of. to put herself in a frame of mind where she can answer projection-y questions like that, she can’t give her as-of-the-end-of-the-trilogy personal opinion, because that’s on lockdown. all she can do is dance around the question mark at the end of TLJ. and she also quickly and essentially unpromptedly veers into “but maybe there’s redemption” all on her own.
we’re going to be getting many, many rambly, vague, nonanswer answers on this press tour as all the actors desperately try to dodge any question thrown at them at all, so I highly suggest the fandom stop putting so much stock in interviews like this. (and yes, she has liked reylo art in the past and called it beautiful, and called it wonderful that Rey sees the glimmer of good in Kylo, and that he was nurturing Rey, etc. one interview doesn’t negate all of that, especially one that’s pre-movie when those other two things she said were post-movie when she could actually say something more substantial.)
Didn’t JJ say something along the lines of “no one wants to see a character die?” Why would he have said that if he already knew Ben’s supposed fate? If people actually sat down and took a couple breaths, they’d realize that most of these leaks don’t add up with what’s been said. At all.
He straight up said “no wants a character to die” and said they only killed Han Solo because Harrison wanted it. He also said in a different interview the most shocking thing to him about TLJ was Phasma’s death.
DONT THANK ME
"Secret" tv spot!!!
I like to have fun
You have nothing to feel bad about when it comes to how TROS unfolded. You’ve been an incredible asset to the Reylo community, and that hasn’t changed. You were there for the people who have come to be one beautiful sort of family.
You also have every right to be as salty as you want, because as far as I’m concerned, TROS is a JOKE. Wasted potential, horrible treatment surrounding Adam Driver, and a complete disregard for story-telling.
I’m going to be salty as fuck about TROS for the foreseeable future (ever? Probably forever.) while still celebrating the beauty (and unnecessary painful tragedy) of Ben Solo A FUCKING LEGEND along with the beautiful love story about healing that Reylo COULD HAVE EASILY been.
I will cherry pick the shit out of the FEW “good” scenes in TROS but otherwise completely reject the narrative. I will NOT apologize for this offensive nightmare ending that destroyed the franchise.
If salt isn’t your brand of coping I can respect that and I’ll attempt to tag those posts “TROS salt”.
I did it! After saying I would NEVER join Twitter I created a damn account so the Mouse could actually hear my hashtags and tremble. I WILL NOT BE SILENCED!
It’s not anything exciting yet since I JUST made it but if you want to follow me my handle is Save_Ben_Swolo
This is a happy moment. The happiest moment of my life.
Kylo Ren endures years of being manipulated, mentally/physically abused, tormented, and used by Snoke - never standing up for himself. By accepting this treatment, it’s obvious how little he values his own life. He believes this is his fate.
Rey endures 10 minutes of being teased and tortured by Snoke, which Kylo has probably experienced since day one of the dark side and kills him without hesitation. He knew what he had to do.
Had he killed Snoke himself years ago, it would show that Kylo believed he had something worth living for - but he didn’t.
What does this tell us?
Not only does Kylo Ren value Rey’s life more than his own, but he feels that she gives his life meaning.
Here’s why.
Killing Snoke not only saves Rey but also saves himself. Rey made him feel like he was worth saving.
“You’re not alone.”
“Neither are you.”
He proceeds to ask her to join him, a desperate plea to rule the galaxy with the girl who began the transformation of Kylo Ren into Ben Solo. Let’s break down the dialogue:
“It’s time to let old things die.”
It’s time for Ben to let go of Kylo, it’s time for Rey to let go of the past.
“Snoke, Skywalker,”
The black and white rules their mentors have taught them,
“the Sith, the Jedi,”
He realizes he can’t fully devote himself to being a Jedi because although he feels the call to the light, the anger he feels from striking down his father will always be with him. Luke says it himself. (”…anger leads to hate, hate leads to suffering.” - Yoda)
“the Rebels,”
With the Sith and the Jedi gone, the Rebels will have nothing to rebel against.
“Let it all die. Rey, I want you to join me.”
Let’s both forget the past and how it has defined us up to this point, and together start a new path with clean slates.
“We can rule together and bring a new order to the galaxy.”
He never states how they will rule. To rule something can also mean to govern something, which could create a regulation and peace in the galaxy. Just because he uses the word rule does not mean his intentions were total domination.
(Rey:) “Don’t do this Ben. Please, don’t go this way.”
Like how I described above, she hears him and goes straight to the dark (just like she did with Luke’s first lesson on the force).
(Kylo:) “No, no, you’re still holding on. Let go! Do you want to know the truth about your parents, or have you always known? You’ve just hidden it away…”
This can be applied to both sides - Kylo has always known the truth about his parents and how they come from the light (”You may try, but you cannot deny the truth that is your family.” - Tekka, The Force Awakens). Rey has always known the truth about her parents and how they were no one. Both characters hid the truth away. So when he says this to her, it’s just another thing that relates them, almost as if he’s saying it to himself as well.
We all know what happens after that. “You’re nothing, but not to me” brings us back to the point of this post. Rey isn’t nothing to him because she brings meaning and value to his existence.
Rey may come from nothing, but to Kylo? She is everything.
Based on Ridley saying that Adam held her Fireman style after having to take 25 shots of one scene in The Last Jedi. (Now I’m off to bed.)
