netflix casting ben barnes as one of the hottest characters in YA is a power move
You have nothing to feel bad about when it comes to how TROS unfolded. You’ve been an incredible asset to the Reylo community, and that hasn’t changed. You were there for the people who have come to be one beautiful sort of family.
You also have every right to be as salty as you want, because as far as I’m concerned, TROS is a JOKE. Wasted potential, horrible treatment surrounding Adam Driver, and a complete disregard for story-telling.
I’m going to be salty as fuck about TROS for the foreseeable future (ever? Probably forever.) while still celebrating the beauty (and unnecessary painful tragedy) of Ben Solo A FUCKING LEGEND along with the beautiful love story about healing that Reylo COULD HAVE EASILY been.
I will cherry pick the shit out of the FEW “good” scenes in TROS but otherwise completely reject the narrative. I will NOT apologize for this offensive nightmare ending that destroyed the franchise.
If salt isn’t your brand of coping I can respect that and I’ll attempt to tag those posts “TROS salt”.
“Then they should have no problem retrieving the droid. Unharmed.
I want that map. For your sake, I suggest you get it”.
“Forget the droid. We have what we need”.

Not only the prisoner escaped, a stormtrooper helped him to escape, a Tie Fighter was stolen and the destruction of the base is quite important.
Reaction -Calm and clear :“The one from the village. FN-2187″.
The girl (who is collaborating with the resistance for the first time in her life , is not even a soldier, and is still in the base ) escaped. Reaction:
“She’s just beginning to test her powers. The longer it takes to find her, the more dangerous she becomes”. “Put every hangar on lock-down. She’s going to try to steal a ship”
“ The longer it takes the more dangerous she becomes”
The longer it takes…
“ the more dangerous she becomes”

Let’s not forget Rey last name:“I’m not giving you anything”
And Rey last name: “I ship Myself to him”

“No. The Supreme leader is wise”.
You know what? You don’t need your grandfather’s lightsaber right now.You have your own red lightsaber in your waist…
Just grab it and fight..
Except that you don’t want to fight, right?
You just want her to stay with you
Okay this time, he’s really furious…
You should inform your army that she’s running away…
Boy…
You should inform your army that she’s running away…
she’s running away… inform your army
No?Okey…
Do you still have doubts about what will happen in IX?
This man makes me really uncomfortable with his weird obsession with Daisy Ridley and her character….this picture is quite much telling.
• In a recent interview JJ admitted he cannot separate Daisy Ridley from Rey, like can’t make any difference between the two of them.
• He took away Ben Solo’s legacy arc and gave it to Rey. He separated these characters who were set up as destinied lovers, and destroyed their romance plot
• He’s obsessed with the OT nostalgia shit. He destroyed and completely rewrote Rey’s characterization to make her OT Luke 2.0 self insert for the degenerate fanbros, to fulfill these men’s fantasy of Rey..
I don’t know, what to say…but there’s something wrong with this guy for sure
I don’t think Disney actually gets why everyone is so upset about Ben Solo.
He was the first non-toxically masculine and emotionally vulnerable male character in a big movie franchise. He was a byronic hero and was a character that was written incorporating the female and queer audience. Also incorporated the men who were relentlessly ridiculed for having any amount of emotional intelligence and vulnerability growing up. He cried. He held the hand of his lover and told her that she wasn’t alone. He begged her for companionship. He was human and loving. He wasn’t a caricature “villain,” just a broken boy who was hiding behind a mask to protect himself.
And then you kept the pew pew flyboy alive to satisfy the dudebros and killed off the actually complex and well-rounded male character.
That is sickening.

“Star Wars is an optimistic, spiritual world, and more like a fairytale […] Ever since I was a kid, all that matters to me is the love story. It’s the thing I had to find first. Sometimes, [the love story] is obvious, sometimes a bit more complicated.” - JJ
- - -
“We’ve tried to pick up that complicated relationship that really has been present ever since the interrogation in Episode VII. When Ren takes off his mask, there’s a nakedness about him with Rey that he doesn’t express to anyone else. Rian developed that in fascinating ways and we’ve been able to develop it even further.” - Chris
- - -
“Describe Rey and Kylo’s relationship in one word: Desperate (JJ), Connected (Daisy), Very, very complicated (KK)”
- - -
“For example, we looked at it like a Western, or a fairytale. What are the elements you’re going to see that makes it this genre, this specific genre? […] You’re probably going to have a castle and a prince and a princess, if you’re looking at a fairytale.” - JJ
- - -
“When his mask comes off, you see Adam Driver, and he just looks like a sort of prince.” - JJ
- - -
“In this scene she (Rey) is drawn to this place, almost like Cinderella.” - JJ
- - -
“And we’re back in the forest with the story that we really care about, the focus of the story, which is Rey and Ren.” - JJ
- - -
“What makes this story have a beating heart? We simply approached this narrative from the point of view that this is a story about a young man and a young woman, not with the idea that we can do anything we want.” JJ
- - -
“I know what the fans want, they want to see the dynamics between Rey and Kylo. I’m glad JJ was on the same exact page.” - John
- - -
“From the selflessness of young Anakin Skywalker, to the kindness of the scavenger Rey, compassion is an essential theme in the Star Wars universe.” - Star Wars via Twitter
- - -
“You have compassion for her.” - TFA Novelization
- - -
*Across the Stars plays on audiobook as: “Rey would wait, however difficult that would be to do as the First Order warships descended on crait. She would wait, and the future would unfold as the Force willed.” - TLJ novelization
- - -
“I will say, without talking about redemption or not, that he (Adam) is mind blowing in this. Like he’s brought a whole other level to this. So I can’t wait for you to see what happens to him. It’s pretty fun.” - JJ
- - -
“I don’t think so, because I think he (Kylo) is redeemable.” - Daisy
- - -
“I think there are so many themes in the Star Wars films, my favorite being redemption…the idea of redemption.” - Kelly
- - -
“A bond between two living beings is not something easily broken. It is not a choice…it is like breaking a feeling. Like turning away from the Force. To break a bond, your feelings would have to change, or one of you would have to die—but even then, the bond wouldn’t go away, it would simply…it would simply be empty, a wound.” - Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic II: The Sith Lords, Wookieepedia

Recent comic releases: Show Rey struggling with the Force, not finding belonging with the resistance, feeling isolated and alone. Show Ben Solo fleeing from the Jedi students who wrongly accuse him of murder, show him literally using the Force to stop himself from dying after being yeeted.

Or more commonly known as:
It’s a fairytale. It’s a complicated fairytale. It literally has a prince and Rey is referred to as a princess. I’d argue it might even be loosely inspired from Beauty and the Beast.
And if it doesn’t end with a redeemed, alive Ben Solo…I don’t even have words for that kind of clownery. That’s D&D S8 level nonsense and I don’t think JJ wants a seat at that table. I’m just saying.
One last thing. JJ is raving about Adam, and has since TFA. He is not going to do him the disservice of that kind of shitty writing. DANY would have a more meaningful death, and we know how shitty that was. (Ben shows up only to do nothing in the final fight and bite the bullet before it even begins, giving the audience - and Adam - a beyond dissatisfying and insulting death? PLEASE.)
Please feel free to add more…I’ve typed enough and I’m tired.
From EW's latest!!!
Lay me on a bed of roses!!!
