It amazed Rin that you ever even looked in his direction. You weren't like the other people that passed through his life.

When Rin met you, you were already well established in your profession, confident like no one else and in his mind unreachable. Yet, you were friendly, open, and kind to everyone.

If he had one complaint when he met you, it was that you talked too much. Now, he couldn't bear going a day without hearing your voice. You let out a little hum in your sleep as you inched closer to Rin.

Smiling, he kissed the top of your head. The thoughts continued pulling at him. You deserved better. Someone vocal about their feelings. Someone who wasn't afraid or awkward about showing physical affection either.

Rin wasn't an idiot. You mostly hid it from him, but there were times he spotted that longing in your eyes when an affectionate couple passed by. Or when you were among friends and their partners held them close or kissed them in front of everyone else.

Rin knew you were settling. Knew you loved him enough to never ask him to change or even ask him for what you so desperately needed. You were so careful of Rin's needs you completely neglected yours.

Aware of this, Rin honestly tried to give you more and the two of you discussed it plenty. However, he could tell you still held back and it hurt him.
