Your boyfriend stood there in the doorway in some sort of gaze. God he loved the way his name was splayed out across your back.

"y-yeah.. Just thinking about something" he mumbled back, shutting the door behind him.

"Rin! Isn't this shirt so cute?" You pulled out another shirt from the rack, showing it to your boyfriend who already had a handful of bags stacking up on his arms.

"Don't you already have one like that?" He muttered, raising an eyebrow as he looked at you.

"you just don't get it" huffing as you check out the shirt more.

Rin sighed, looking around the store before his eyes caught onto something. More like.. Someone.

Was that employee looking at you?

Eurgh. Not on his watch.

At an instant, he linked your arm with his, taking the shirt from your hands.

"We're going"

"But the shirt-"

"We'll buy it- let's go"

You left the store with a new shirt and a much more clingy Rin on your hands.

ᯓ★ just my (very opinionated) opinions on rin...

rin doesn't even try to be rude like poor boy. it's a force of habit for him at this point and if he tried to correct it people would think he was possesed or that he murdered someone.

rin probably has recurring nightmares where it's just that one snowy night of his and sae's 1v1, and he wakes up in tears and cold sweat. he probably sleep talks and it's some monologue of how he'll crush his brother's dream and whatnot.

he has a habit of drawing circles on his paper that spiral and spiral and get darker and darker as he jams the 2b lead of his pencil into the whiteness (this is bc one time i read somewhere that a kid went crazy when his mom or someone died and started drawing these circles again and again on every paper he got. i think sae made rin start this.)

rin can't really cook. like dude is just a 16 year old boy so he's staring at an excruitiatingly dry, painfully unseasoned, piece of chicken breast paired with some type of vegetable (anything but brussel sprouts) and rice on his dinner plate.

truly does enjoy music and rin can lose himself in it.

rin has no close friends. he doesn't think he needs those. he's also really really scared of love and being unable to be alone, by himself. yk like when he was upset that blue lock wasn't letting him play alone? i think that's only on field though. in daily life, rin does feel the pain of solitude, and some tiny part of him wishes he had someone. back to the scared of love bit i think it's more that he's scared of being abandoned (again sae's fault...) and that insecurity eats him up but with a lot of time and the right person i can see him genuinely loving somebody and wanting to give them everything he has and then some.

hyperfixation with horror and horror games stems from the fact that it makes him feel safer seeing others go through worse things than he's experienced. i think he's somewhat emotionally numb anyways so it probably just doesn't impact him that much.

in conclusion itoshi rin needs therapy but don't worry, i can fix him!!

just rin and his cutesy girlfriend who loves it when he does her hair.

his hands are just so nice, and feel so good! the way he gently brushes his slim fingers through her locks, free hand reaching to gently pick up the bow you picked out.

“are you sure it’s this one?” he asks, leaning in to kiss your cheek softly. you nod happily, and rin is sure he’ll melt as he moves to tie the bow into your hair.

“so pretty.” he hums after finishing, looking back at your reflection in the mirror as your expression brightens.

your boyfriend, rin, is always happy to help with your outfits, your hair, even your makeup— but he will admit, he feels just a little flustered when you ask him to apply your lipstick for you.

“alright, love. let me just..” he trails off, attempting to appear nonchalant. he’s definitely not nervous. not at all!

okay, maybe he is. but he just wants to make sure his cute girlfriend’s face stays cute— he’s never ever forgive himself if he smeared her lipstick!

however, despite his doubts, rin is actually pretty good. and as time goes on, he’s a pro. easily applying some pretty lipstick over your lips, smiling just a little at the happy expression on your face. you’re so beautiful, he thinks.

prince!rin is often overshadowed by his older brother. it's near impossible for him to have his moment when his brother always does it better. to everyone, he's "itoshi sae's younger brother". he's even had people trying to marry him just to get closer to sae.

his heart is ice at this point. steadily melting, but impossible to just crack through. it's a slow, slow process, his initial thought anyway, and he was convinced it would take ages for him to find the one.

prince!rin who's nothing but rude when you try and talk to him. it wasn't your own choice in the first place, purely for building relationships between different nations, but how were you going to explain that he was the one making things impossible?

prince!rin who genuinely couldn't believe he fell for the "love at first sight" trope. it's stupid – he was stupid, and he flunked his first impression. how has talking to you for a brief fifty seven seconds (he was counting) equate to his heart shattering into a million pieces with nothing but a gaze?

prince!rin who seems nicer than he lets on. this may sound corny, but he's protected you more times than you'd think.

weird people of importance that are way out of your age range eying you funny? he's only sharpened the sword in his scabbard last night, and he's not afraid to use it. he watches your drink from across the entire hall when you're gone just to make sure nobody tampers with it. believe him, it's more common than you think. when he knows you're visiting the kingdom soon, he makes sure every inch of the town is far from dirt and mud, in fear of ruining your outfit for the special night.

prince!rin panics and keeps the entire relationship undercover. this entire thing was spontaneous. god, it wasn't even him who asked, it was you. he didn't even know you liked him!

nobody knows, not even his brother. actually, he told the diary that he stress-writes into, but now it's locked up, in a locked up box, in another locked up box, and then in a locked up drawer. just the word "marriage" makes him flinch. how suspicious, but somehow, nobody was able to make the link between the two of you.

prince!rin tries to seem cool in front of you, but fails miserably. he has a short temper despite his outward appearance, and even tiny misfortunes cause the dormant anger inside of him to start bubbling up. luckily, you're always there to calm him down, so no more training dummies or random civilians have to suffer from his wrath.

prince!rin who would risk his life for you, but still struggles to bend or completely break the rules. he follows his curfew diligently, straight up refuses to sneak around, and is always on his best behaviour when around his family. the chances of you meeting during the night are near zero, and the only time you see each other is when you coincidentally cross paths or during royal events.

prince!rin always blames himself when the two of you get into an argument. you'd think he's ignoring you with how busy he magically becomes, but his brain is so full of thoughts and conflict. instead of talking things out, he releases stress by overtraining, spending all day working on his swordsmanship. yep, his communication skills suck.

prince!rin tweaks the fuck out when sae magically manages to find out. he could be halfway across the nation and he would still feel the disapproving glare he fears so much. he's pretty much begging on his knees for sae not to tell anyone, not for his own reputation, but he doesn't want to get you in trouble. and then everything comes out, confessing everything on the spot; how it happened, how he feels, how he wants to say sorry to you. sae gives him a weird look, claiming that he'll "help him out", but he doesn't get any advice in the following days.

and he feels utterly betrayed days later when his own brother set the two of you up. as evil as it was, he told you that rin was injured, and he told rin that you were going to break up with him. evil, so evil, but it worked. rin was not ready to receive a big hug, mumbles of missing him and telling him to never get hurt again beinf whispered in his ear. just what is going on?

whatever. at the end of the day, you were in his arms again, ans that's all that matters.

i wanted 2 depict some sort of aftercare/aftermath of the fights our stdygrp members get into yknow.. while their accumulated injuries do have real repercussions & affect the plot, which slays, we dont avtually get to see how they deal with them OUTSIDE fights. . like at home or wtv ..

i was js reading szn 2 & gamins using his crutches like a boss in a fight (JSJSVWAAKAKAVSBSB MARRY ME MARRY ME YOON GAMIN) & while they r depicted within fights in v cool ways .. THEY NEED TO SHOW THE SLICE OF LIFE PARTTT

WHERES THE UGLY BLACK & BLUE SORES? ACHES? SHATTERED BLOOD VESSELS N THOSE TINY RED DOTS ALL OVER?? SWELLING?? SCABBING?? THE PICKING AT SAID SCABS?? DULL PAIN THAT THROBS SO HARD U CANT EVEN FALL ASLEEP DUE TO THE COMBINED WHIPLASH?? PSYCH TRAUMA?? ANXIETY?? INSOMNIA?? RIDICULOUSLY HUGE STASH OF ICE PACKS/COLD COMPRESSES?? lol i js had an idea abt how jun uses random frozen poultry in his fams freezer as ice packs 2 put against his fresher wounds instead of actual ice

obvi itll be impossible to draw them all on each character all the time but they shld def hv more permanent trophies of past battles won, yk, not js a freaking hand in a cast & nothing of it after

esp as highschoolers i feel they hv itchier hands than most.. ppl like sehyun wld be terribly uncomfortable & not THAT used to constant injuries like those & effects wld be more visible like hes alw wincing or hissing when sth touches his wounds, things like nausea & lost/changed palate bc of always getting fkin socked in the gut, etc ..

ppl like jiwoo & jun wld hv lots of calluses & rough skin, things like discolouration & lots of peeling n shit .. which wld lead to them needing special care, like applying creams after judo practice (jiwoo) or tons of massage guns & similar contraptions at home always charged up (jun)

AND SCARS, JEEZ.. SCARS ALL OVER. i cant believe jun's cheek js healed without a scar in the YB HQ takeover arc but tbf the guy who gave it to him was so npc so i get it LOL, bro is not worthy.. but they shld all hv insane amts of scars of all kinds, esp jun/sehyun cuz they alw used to get beat up LOL

& what i drew here is real simple of an idea but basc gamin & the more obvi stuff like reopening wounds.. gamin's wounds always reopen in the shower & it pisses him off bc water in open wounds especially suck, bigger the wound the worse, ifykyk.. but i guess his skin almost never breaks? so ? idk LOL

its not THAT integral to the plot/vibe but stdygrp handles so many topics n tropes with such care i feel leaning into the aftercare part wld be really cool 4 them to do too, n the psychological effects of such fights too, like trauma!! where is the ptsd/trauma depictions!!!!! i hv a lot 2 say abt that saur thats 4 another time buut

yea basc its not abt the depiction character design wise but more of plot/SoL wise cuz stdygrp is def more wholesome no matter how many ppl die/shoot pew pewers & they shld def show the aftercare part of constant brawling LOL

when you decline his offer of letting him pay for uber rides, he has half the mind to snatch your phone out of your hands and key in his card details himself. you don’t have the heart to tell him that private hires aren’t the safest option either.

he wasn’t even supposed to know, nagi just happened to be on the same train as you were and sent him a picture of you slumped in a corner seat. that snitch.

it’s not a play on control when he lightly reprimands you for being careless, and it’s not a show of affluence when he insists on having his chauffeur pick you up moving forward. he just wants you to be safe, and he’ll do anything in his power to keep it that way.
