"GOOD WORK!" THE STAGE MANAGER EXCLAIMS as you arrive backstage.

You had just finished your first-ever special stage at MAMA as a solo artist. Being a rookie, HYBE thought it would be beneficial to your popularity if you performed a cover of another artist.

Unfortunately though, it was a very last-minute decision, so you weren’t given much time to practice before the day itself. It didn’t help either that the song chosen for you was Black Swan by BTS, a song produced by a senior group at your own entertainment company. So, when you made a mistake, you couldn’t help but feel embarrassed and frustrated.

"Hey, don't be so hard on yourself, alright?" Your manager says as she walks you out of the backstage area.

You simply sigh and shake your head, the frown still etched onto your face as the moment continues to replay in your head.

What will BTS think of me? You think to yourself with a frown.

But as you two walk down the hallway, she suddenly stops you halfway through and opens the door to a certain room. You tilt your head at her, very much confused as to why she was leading you into a room that certainly wasn't yours.

Your confusion quickly fades; however, once you noitce seven familiar faces inside the room, each seemingly busy with their own thing. You immediately shake your head, refusing to come inside.

"I can't go in there, unnie. Not after the mistake I just made." You mumble with a frown.

But to no avail, your manager simply shakes her head leads you inside, insisting that it was BTS who wanted you to visit them and not her. You huff and follow her inside, respectfully greeting the people in the room.

"H-Hello." You say, bowing towards everyone.

They all perk up once they see you, waving and greeting you back before glancing at one another.

"(Y/N)-ah!" Namjoon exclaims, walking towards you cheerfully.

You greet each of them with a forced smile, still quite embarrassed and nervous to see if they noticed your mistake. Then, once you come face-to-face with Hoseok, your nervousness quickly escalates upon noticing the unreadable expression on his face.

"You made a mistake, huh?" Hoseok says in a half-playful tone, patting your shoulder.

You force out a smile and nod embarrassingly, scratching the back of your head.

"Yeah—my mind kind of went blank at one point during the performance." You mumble, looking downwards.

Hoseok lets out a huff, putting his hands in his pockets.

"You definitely should've practiced harder, then. You're lucky you were able to recover right away when you made a mistake. But you should know that that’s not always the case." Hoseok says in a slightly scolding tone, your eyes still cast towards the ground in shame.

As Hoseok continues to talk to you, you don't notice the glances the other members were giving you as they watched, cautious expressions displayed on their faces.

"If you work harder next time, you'll do better. Just learn from this mistake and make sure not to repeat it."

You sigh and nod, trying your best to maintain a professional expression. Unfortunately for you, tears begin to spill out of your eyes as you remain frustrated by your actions.

"Okay, oppa. I’ll do better next time, thank you for your advice." You say as kindly as you could, your voice slightly cracking at the end.

Hoseok hears your voice falter and is immediately taken aback, the stern look on his face quickly fading away. He crouches down slightly to see your expression and his eyes immediately widening once he sees the sadness on your face.

"Shit—wait (Y/N), I was kidding! P-Please don’t be sad, you were amazing on stage!" He suddenly exclaims, now panicking.

You’re immediately confused, wondering why Hoseok’s demeanor suddenly changed.

"W-What?" You ask, looking extremely dumbfounded as you meet his eyes.

“It was a prank! Aish—this wasn’t how it was supposed to go!“ Hoseok exclaims, ruffling his hair in frustration.

You continue stare at him in confusion, a few leftover tears still falling down your cheeks as you try to comprehend what was going on. As you did, the other members also begin to get ahold of what was happening and realize that they may have taken the prank a bit too far.

"Yah! Did you make (Y/N)-ie cry?!" Seokjin quickly asks, jabbing his finger towards Hoseok chest.

The rest of the members begin to play along and act innocent, putting the blame on Hoseok.

"How dare you hurt our baby's feelings?!" Jimin quickly adds, wrapping his arms around you as though to protect you.

Upon seeing their reactions, you quickly let out a small laugh through your sniffles, wiping the tears away from your eyes. Jimin frowns upon seeing this and gives you a hug, rubbing your back as he glares at Hoseok.

"I'm sorry, (Y/N)-ah. I didn't mean to make you cry! We were only supposed to make you a bit upset before we’d stop and say it was a prank.” Hoseok explains, frowning as he sees your tears.

"A little upset my foot! Our baby is sad now because of you!" Jungkook exclaims, playfully hitting Hoseok.

You laugh and this and sniffle, shaking your head in disbelief as Jimin lets you go.

"I knew we wouldn't succeed. It's just impossible to hurt our (Y/N)-ie." Yoongi says with a sigh, the other members agreeing.

“We should have known from the start not to even try.” Taehyung adds, a pout now also forming on his face.

“She’s too cute for our good.” Jimin coos, squeezing your cheeks like a baby.

You chuckle at this and take Jimin’s hands off of your cheek, still slightly puzzled as to why they wanted to prank you in the first place. And as though he read your mind, Namjoon quickly explains the situation.

“It’s a BigHit tradition to prank our hoobaes. We just never found a good opportunity to do it to you. So, when Hoseok joked about it while you were on stage, we thought we might give it a try.” He explains, shrugging sheepishly.

Upon hearing his explanation, Hoseok’s eyes widen as he stares at the leader in disbelief.

“Yah! You guys have been making it seem like I was the only one who planned it—you guys are just as much to blame as I am!“ Hoseok whines, feeling betrayed.

He then turns towards you and hugs you, pulling back to wipe the remaining tears on your cheeks.

“I’m so sorry, (Y/N)-ie. I shouldn’t have let those troublemakers talk me into scolding you for fun.” Hoseok says with a pout, making you let out a soft chuckle.

“It’s okay, oppa. I know it was all for good fun anyways. Besides—your advice is still valid.” You respond, a pout slowly forming on your face as you once again recall your mistake on stage.

Hoseok sees this and shakes his head, placing both his hands on your cheeks as he stares right into your eyes.

“Yah (Y/N), don’t beat yourself up for it, alright? You still did amazing.” Hoseok says, smiling at you reassuringly before letting go of your cheeks.

“Hyung’s right, (Y/N)-ah. Besides, he’s made much more mistakes than you and look, he’s still doing great.” Jungkook adds, causing Hoseok to turn around and glare at him.

“Like you haven’t made any mistakes either!” Hoseok quickly argues, Jungkook laughing and rolling his eyes.

The two begin to get defensive over who made more mistakes in the past, swiftly accusing one another easily. As you watch them, a smile slowly creeps onto your face, your earlier frustrations now disolving into the air.

Meanwhile, Seokjin sighs as he watches the two members, quickly walking between them before raising both of his hands up.

“Yah! That’s enough.” He exclaims, the rest of the members laughing in disbelief.

Jimin clears his throat, putting his arm on your shoulder as he grabs the attention of the other members.

“Anyways, I think we all owe (Y/N) for making her cry today.” Jimin says, patting your head.

Before you could say anything, the other members quickly agree. Taehyung raises his hand up, already with an idea.

“Why don’t we have a pizza night? There’s no better way to apologize than with food.” Taehyung suggests.

Everyone immediately agrees and starts to settle on a time and place. Suddenly, Namjoon pauses and tilts his head to one side in confusion.

“Wait—but who’s paying?“ He asks, looking at his members.

“I think Hoseok should, he was the one who made her cry anyways.” Yoongi says bluntly, causing Hoseok to scoff.

“Yah! For the last time—it wasn’t only my idea!”
