We’ll find you Amanda.
Am I an avid Team Black supporter? Yes.
Do I understand where the Greens are coming from? Also yes.
Aegon would have been the better choice for heir initially because a male heir would have been less contentious. That’s a simple fact. Unfortunately, he wasn’t raised to be king, Rhaenyra was, and there was no way she wouldn’t have pressed her claim.
Frankly, Viserys and Otto were responsible for this whole mess, and they are the only two characters that I actually dislike (their actors did an excellent job).

“the tradition and honour of house targaryen dies…with them”
Daemon / Caraxes and Rhaenys / Meleys are, to me at least, the last of the great Targaryen Dragon Riders. Aegon doesn’t have the same bond with Vhagar, Rhaenyra is queen first and dragon rider second, Aegon doesn’t speak Valyrian, and all the other kids die too young to really grow into their heritage. Even Danaerys is never really able to bring that tradition and honour back, as she has to try to figure the dragons out on her own. With Rhaenys dead, Daemon is the last true dragon rider.
RIP to the Queen Who Never Was, unequivocally my favorite HOTD character.
episode 4 of house of the dragon… oh I’m in TEARS
meleys was a dragon with some of the most loyal riders out there. alyssa brought viserys and daemon on her back as newborns. rhaenys refused to leave dangerous spaces without her. and when rhaenys told meleys to attack, meleys complies knowing full well it was a death sentence because she loves and trusts rhaenys that much.
and here’s the thing: you see aegon and sunfyre have somewhat of a sweet moment before battle. there’s a relationship there that honestly could have been nearly as loyal as that of meleys and rhaenys. but aegon is so hypersensitive and relentless that after this he will go on to push sunfyre into things before either of them have healed and things which defy the very magic dragons were born from (kinslaying). that paired with aegon’s lack of high valyrian fluency makes for a complete lack of understanding of why targaryens have dragons and of the bonds which have made their house so worthy for so many years. it just spits in the face of their house, as does the moment immediatelt after where aemond nearly commits his second act of kinslaying in less than a couple months. again, it’s a complete carnal sin and fails to present a united front which feels disgraceful to the targaryen name.
and so part of why it’s so heartbreaking to watch meleys and rhaenys die is because those two just get it and losing them feels like the tradition and honour of house targaryen dies a little bit with them in that moment.
I hope eve best knows we love her to bits and she just delivered such a powerful, magical, and dignified performance 🥹✊🏻
SUPER controversial statement, but sometimes characters do exist to further other characters’ storylines.
That’s how stories work.
These are not real people.
P. S. I’m not saying there isn’t definitely a ‘bury your gays’ or ‘fridge your wives’ problem, but when a show has multiple examples of gays/wives and ONE dies or pretty much every single character including the protagonist will die by the end…c’mon. Pick something else to hate a good story over.
Then I’d say you skipped 2x02 and 2x05 and 2x09 and 2x17 and 2x22 and 3x11 at the very least, in just the first two and a half seasons.
I can understand why some people might not like Regina, even though personally I love her, but she loves Henry, and she proves it over and over and over and over again. Seriously, the writers really hammered it home, and if you missed that, I’m sorry but you’re just inventing more reasons to hate her.
Episode explanations beneath the cut.
2x02 - she lets him choose who to live with, and when it isn’t her, she respects his choice
2x05 - she gives up magic and goes to therapy to be better for him
2x09 - she undoes the death curse, despite the fact that her mother, who she is terrified of might come through, because Henry asked
2x17 - she destroys the spell that would let her keep him forever because he asks
2x22 - she slows the trigger at the cost of her own life so that he can have his family (because let’s be real, she doesn’t really care about anyone else in the town yet)
3x11 - she gives him up forever (or at least she thinks forever) to stop Pan’s Curse, and gives him and Emma a lifetime of memories so that they’ll be happy
what if i say that regina never loved henry as a person but as possession she could have!
What do you think it would have taken for Parker to kill or paralyze Bligh (no idea how to spell her name lol)? Like, if Astrid weren’t there I kind of genuinely believe that Parker would have done a lot worse, but Sophie was still in the room so she probably wouldn’t have killed her, you know?
Oooh good question! I agree that if Astrid and Sophie weren't there she would've done a lot worse, though I also think it's dependent on how much Bligh injured Sophie. Like if Sophie had been actually physically injured, even so much as like just a little beat up, a few bruises, maybe a split lip, I think Parker would've hurt her more, though I don't think Parker would kill Bligh over a black eye. But if Sophie had been any more injured? Then Parker would've killed Bligh. Even if Astrid and Sophie were there to watch, they wouldn't have been able to hold her back.
"Rebellions are built on hope."
1) I may have teared up a little hearing the hotel clerk say that
2) He demonstrates that rebellions are also built on small, everyday acts of resistance. Not logging Cassian into the system allowed him to evade Imperial scrutiny, which then allowed him to witness what happened on Ghorman, which sets off a series of events that eventually leads to the Battle of Yavin and the destruction of the Death Star.
every single time the doctor sees Kate they're like "KATE LETHBRIDGE-STEWART! I FUCKING LOVE YOU!" and then immediately give her one of the all-time worst days of her life
