So a couple weeks ago I was talking to this girl and brought up my AOT hyperfixation and we were talking for a bit until I brought up Bertholdt being my favorite character. She looked disgusting and said she hated him and that he was a whiny little b****.

I asked her to elaborate and from what I can assume, she was reffering to his mental breakdown in late season 2 (I think episode 36) while all the scouts and shouting at him. Which is absolutely ridiculous.

"Yeah bro ik you were raised as a child soldier for 17 years taught these people were disgusting demons who deserved to be wiped out and put responsible for committing mass genocide on them just to help your terminally ill father and now you have killed hundreds of thousands of people and come to the realization all the people who thought of as your friends and your only source of happiness your entire life actually despise you because obviously and you are being told what to do by your mentally ill best friend who doesn't even know wtf he's doing and now you're stuck in this situation with your entire life on the line but like... man up dude."

Istg men can't be emotional (whether personality-wise or for trauma reasons) in media without being called whiny or annoying and it pisses me tf off.

Bertholdt probably isn't autistic in the original show. Most of the "symptoms" people are reffering to are originated from his trauma or depression. The concept is interesting, but not logical when you consider the other factors of his story and character.

ok so I’ve been seeing once again bertholdt hate. Ok honestly you’re just hating on him because he was always quiet and only with Reiner, calling him useless. But without him, he would’ve have not destroyed the wall, and without him destroying the wall means Eren’s mother would have not died. AND WITHOUT HER DEATH EREN WOULD NOT FEEL SUCH HATRED TOWARDS TITANS!! Bertholdt is an important character. Important to the warriors, important to the plot. He was VERY USEFUL!! Without him, how would Eren become the Attack Titan?? Without Bertholdt no one in the scout regiment wouldn’t meet. Without Bertholdt, Reiner wouldn’t be able to destroy the second wall.

If you call him useless, you did not understand any of the warriors. He was a kid, a kid who was brainwashed to hate the people of Paradis. He was brainwashed to call them devils WITHOUT OUT KNOWING WHO OR HOW THEY TRULY ARE! Propaganda also manipulated him. He just wanted to help his sick father and by doing that he needed to become a warrior.

These bertholdt hate blogs, needs to go study his character and how important he is, HOW IMPACTFUL HE IS TO THE STORY LINE.
