Okay last Masterminds post of the day
Amber has like I minor eating disorder or something right. I skinny 13 year old should not be watching her weight. They fully restricted these kids media access but didn't mange to take out the parts of it that push unhealthy body standards. The watsonain explanation was that project Osiris was created by people who where not very smart.
In all serious this is the one part of the series that actually bugs me. It definitely normalizes some messed up stuff. If they called attention to it or made it part of her character arc it could have been really interesting.
Guys Amber Masterminds would be such a good character if she was written better

I am healing my child you guys have to hear more about masterminds by Gorden Korman.
These books are so close to having interesting moral dilemmas but so far. They are a bit to wrapped up in the idea of legality as morality they try to break free from this but never mange to fully untangle them. They also want the characters to feel bad about doing stuff but refuse to let them willingly do the wrong thing. I think this works for Amber because it's kind of her deal but just doesn't really fit with the other characters.
also Amber is the best character and I have way more thoughts on her that I will try to organize into disjointed tumblr posts later.

In summery masterminds is a book series why they try to clone criminals instead of putting there resources to actual prison reform that would help people
When you stop reading mediocre middle grade fiction you forget how prevalent the forced heterosexual pairing up of the characters is.
I was thinking of doing a relisten so maybe we could like do it semi together. Fawkner from the silt verses is one of my favorite characters of all time and some times I just don't have it in me to listen to his bullshit

One of the things I love when it comes to the Redactedverse is that the listeners have separate personification outside of self-inserts. It’s vague for some listeners—but super clear in others. I enjoy disagreeing with the actions a listener takes! And when they have ideas that conflict my own morals. It makes them feel separated from me but also separate from other listeners. Some listeners would to the exact same thing in a similar situation—while others wouldn’t dare to. That’s SUPER neat to me 😞
Which is why it’s a bummer that I didn’t get to experience the Fred & BrightEyes stuff while it was going on. Having a Listener who does actions that get them into very severe trouble is such a fun concept. Even though it’s harder to agree with what they’re doing. It’s the same reason I resonated with the Geordi playlist. Cutie’s character is so clearly in the wrong and it makes their situation interesting to analyze.
All this to say: More Audio Creators in general need to make characters who aren’t 100% good people all the time :3 pleaaase

I understand how the tragedy in it but I for no apparent reason can't believe that was there first kiss.
The way this kiss happened in the worst possible moment is driving me insane (in the best way)
Besides the fact that they're basically on a mission to hunt down the sister of one of them, who killed the mother of the other (awkward), what's getting to me is how neither of them is themselves right now.
Their first kiss happens when neither of them is actually herself.
Vi is wearing Enforcers' uniform, the same faction that killed her family, to go and kill her own sister. She says her sister is not there anymore, that she's ready to do what she has to, but she's lying to herself (as we see her later hesitate, obviously).
Caitlyn isn't just doing her job, she's not pursuing justice, all that is driving her now is the vengance that comes from her grief. Her promise is a lie because she's already changing, she's already acting against her own principles (not necessarly because putting Jinx down is wrong on its own right now, but for her reasons behind it).
They're both not really themselves, they're both lying, and neither of them is self-aware. Their first kiss is so emotional, and so wrong, and I knew from that moment that it would blow up to their faces.
And it's heartbreakingly beautiful.
