Digital art is often hard when starting out, and it seems like a lot of tutorials skip things, (or I'm not paying attention, both are very plausible) so, I decided to study an artists work; In this case, it was @sm-baby, (a user of several platforms, including Tumblr).
What I concluded is that the utilization of pressure, colored lineart in particular areas (such as when two of the same color that are in contact), and (although more so in uncolored sketches) the presence of lightly colored lines on sections of the character to show detail without making it overly prominent are factors that go into digital art that is pleasurable to look at.
So, with what I learned, the image above is a sketch that utilizes those aspects that were deemed "good", from her creations.
And hey, since you're here, go check out @sm-baby's blog. Her art is good, and there was a whole anon-deeznuts situation that went down the other day, which was very entertaining.
AND HEY- To the fellow Artists that are newer to digital artwork, or don't know where to start, or [add text here], studying the techniques of others is a good way to learn, within reason of course. So, like, don't steal or anything, thats too far.
Please bear with me, if you have time I’d love to learn and I have a few questions about ISAT worldbuilding:
1. Is there a general time period that ISAT is based in? I’m assuming maybe the 16th or 17th century. Indoor plumbing didn’t become widely available to commoners until the 19th century, so do the villagers just use outhouses in their town? I assume the sinks in ISAT have buckets of water separately you pour into instead of fossetts with running water. Same with tech. I assume because of anxiety meds that medication is pretty modern but something like a pulse oximeter or cars wouldn’t exist in the ISAT world.
2. Does Dormont have a distinct alphabet different from any real world languages? Or not really.
3. This might be a dumb question, but do a lot of people live in the house? Like a college dorm/apartment sort of situation? Are there more houses around dormont or is what we see all there is in terms of housing?
4. Are there any specific swears that people call each other? Not slurs obviously (I wouldn’t ask for anything like that 😨) but things like the word b*st*rd, specifically derogatory words for people you don’t like? Or is that sort of thing unacceptable in the ISAT world and swear words for people don’t exist?
(i start crying and screaming in fear real loud)
I think that actually makes it funnier!
Zooble drops a curse bomb and Queenie immediately starts interrogating everyone about how Zooble knows that word and who taught it to her. All while Zooble is sitting in the background looking very satisfied with themselves.
Hoo boy! Seeing Kaufmo swear! It would be pretty funny if Zooble's first word ended up being a cuss, and Queenie looking at everyone angrily asking who taught them that word.
Bold to assume Zooble just didn't come up with the concept of cursing by themselves.
Since you said Carnival Valdi's engine is also his heart... Does that mean it starts revving up whenever he sees Zooble? :3
Maybe . . .
Sorry It took me so long to respond. Hope that answered your question.
