so many of the "i only use chat gpt for ___" excuses are concerning because people use it in place of learning basic, valuable skills.

you don't need chat gpt to write professional sounding emails for you, there are many many guides on the internet and with a bit of practise you can learn to write them yourself. a very important skill for a professional to have, and some of the basic rules will carry over into irl conversations!

you don't need chat gpt to be a "more detailed search engine", because you're robbing yourself of the chance to learn how to find and filter information on the internet and evaluate the credibility of sources. which is a VITAL skill. plus, chat gpt is notorious for being wrong?

if you use it to write essays, you're taking away your ability to hone your research skills, your writing skills, your critical thinking skills. your ability to create persuasive arguments!

and for most of the other reasons people use chat gpt, there are non-ai websites for that! for maths, wolfram alpha. for figuring out what you can cook with the ingredients you have there's supercook and the like. for creating routines, there's about a million apps!

whatever you "only" use chatgpt for i promise there are better websites out there that you don't have to worry will produce complete bullshit???? and destroy the environment???

Started rewatching x files last night and it's crazy how mulder and scully were in love with each other immediately. Like I'm sorry there's no chance that I would meet a new coworker and trust and respect them the way they trust and respect each other off the bat. Soulmates is the only explanation

Funniest x files moment is the jersey devil episode when scully goes on a date and it doesn't go well and she has a character development moment about weighing how much she wants a normal life and relationship vs being dedicated to her career and the x files. i think the normalization of laying out your own sexual trauma as a pre-amble to a (typically anti-kink) argument is a really dangerous discussion format that we should not be legitimizing. even beyond the fact that experiencing trauma in no way makes you a kinder, smarter, or better person, the demand that we re-open wounds and bare our vulnerabilities as "victim credentials" to (usually hostile) strangers is a bad bad bad fucking expectation to legitimize. i understand the desire to elevate survivors' voices and this absolutely has a place re: conversations about remedial justice and survivor resources. but the idea that one's understanding of systems of sexual violence can only be confirmed by falling victim to them and later willingly offering that trauma to others is equal parts fallacious and dangerous, and it further insults those of us whose advocacy and understanding come from years of study, research, and work, not from our victimization at the hands of another person. i understand it's the impulse to fire back when reactionaries open and end cap every argument with a gratuitous statement of trauma qualifications but you Cannot be ceding ground on this -- not just for reasons of intellectual integrity, but also because your fellow survivors deserve the right to advocate for our lives and communities without being expected to first divulge voyeuristic personal trauma narratives

great question. while a lot of these gofundmes started to fund evacuations, since the border will not open they have shifted to covering the costs of daily survival in gaza

the cost of food alone in gaza right now has been reported by journalists on the ground (including @siraj2024) to be 20 times the normal price.

and it varies based on location. the north is currently being starved by the IOF so food prices are higher

and there is a lot of evidence on tumblr that proves that these fundraisers do help

@ma7moudgaza2 was able to buy a tent for his family and is currently trying to pay for a solar panel

@siraj2024 was able to secure rent for a (bombed out, but still) apartment for his family over the winter

@mohdiwais was able to fund medical care for his sister after she was shot by the IOF using funds he raised on tumblr

a gaza-based charity called care for gaza has also been directly assisting families with funds used from their gofundme. they even post videos of themselves giving out food

and those are just a few examples. hope this helped!
