Nine perceives the world as demanding or exhausting. Their objective in life is to maintain a peaceful state of being.

Their (unconscious) fear is being caught in chaos, conflicts or discomfort.

Sloth comes from a desire for an untroubled existence. However, pursuing their own best interest often leads to potential disruptions that threaten their attachments to their “comfort zone” (relationships, hobbies, routines, etc.). Thus, 9s disconnect from their own anger and vitality to preserve a calm lifestyle.

Healthy 9s display remarkable adaptability to different situations, people or environments. They have a quiet endurance that allows them to patiently but persistently work toward their goals even in the face of adversity. They recognize that inner and outer conflict is essential for their self-actualization.

Average 9s struggle to engage with their life, feeling easily exhausted or stressed from the energy required to confront difficult situations or tasks. They avoid their inner work and let things happen by themselves : they believe their effort isn’t worth the trouble. This leads to increased passivity and stagnation in personal growth.

Average 9s are excessively protective of their autonomy or status quo. They can be stubborn and passive-aggressive when they are pressured to change. To maintain a superficial sense of peace and avoid inner turmoil, they ignore problems, tune out others, or escape into daydreaming and soothing activities.
