synopsis. a simple conversation makes a full one-eighty as lo'ak airs out his true feelings towards hometree and the clan.
info. angst. lo'ak sully x gn!omaticayan reader. 1,822 words.
warnings. misunderstanding trope! crying, a barely there description of a panic attack, a common neytiri W, stupid lo'ak... like so so so dumb. barely proof read this bro... ignore all the errors :P
"if you could go to any place, where would you be?" you ask softly, the wind carry your voice into lo'ak's pinched back ears.
"easy. anywhere but here," he says with a sigh. and as he lies on his back, lo'ak's eyes close with a huff puffing past his lips. before you could even utter another question of 'why?', he cuts you off with his own train of thought. "dad's always on my ass about something. if i had the chance, i would hop on my ikran and fly as far away as i could."
your brows furrow confusedly, an uneasy smile forcing it's way to your lips as you glance over at his figure, almost ticked-off with how calm his demeanor is whilst laying on the soft grass.
you hum quietly, attempting to sound like you're agreeing but failing miserably. but it's not like lo'ak noticed, no, he was too busy wallowing in his own self pity to hear such a tiny lilt to your voice. too busy to feel the uncomfortable shift within the air that consumes you both.
"so... there's nothing convincing you to stay?" you inquire, busying yourself by looking plucking at random patches of grass. the slight scoff that flutters past his lips is almost gut-wrenching, and you can feel the cracks grow in size as your heart breaks into a billion pieces.
slowly sitting up, he aimlessly glances around the foliage surrounding you both. bringing his hand up, his palm towards the sky as he blocks the sunlight from his eyes. a disgruntled noise vibrates against his lips as he acknowledges your question.
the next sentence that leaves his lips could only be described in one word; heartbreaking.
"when it comes to the hometree... the clan, no. there's absolutely nothing worth staying stuck here for."
you feel the sharp tip of the metaphorical arrow pierce it's way into your heart, the poor thing far from bits and pieces as his harsh words struck deep within your bones. the way your heart rattles in your ribcage is overwhelming to say the least, the continuous thumping of the muscle growing slower and slower as silence blankets itself over two. the sentence leaving his lips so nonchalantly that it almost makes you dizzy, nauseous even. you watch him shrug as he drops his hand into his lap, allowing the sun's rays to illuminate every single one of his features that you've grown to love.
lo'ak misses the way your features fall into one of pure sorrow, frown deepening, and lips twitching uncontrollably as flits of silence yet again fill the tense air.
"sorry for mentioning it, lo'ak."
your voice is low, barely above a whisper as you swallow a thick lump stuck in your throat. the action does little to soothe the scorching hot pain that his words had burnt into your brain. the way his name rumbles in your chest has him confused and left in a daze, unsure of how to respond. you rarely call him by his full name, the fact that you even said it makes his brain short circuit.
"y/n..." he calls out your name, fidgeting slightly as he begins to notice how tense you are. the boy sighs deeply upon seeing your head hung low, bead-clad braids falling off your shoulders and curtaining your face away from his worry filled eyes.
"no, it is fine. i will see you later," you mutter with a shake of your head. standing up from your spot, you don't bother dusting the specks of dirt on your legs, opting to scurry towards the village in a hurry.
lo'ak watches you slip away, physically and metaphorically. the way you try to get away from him etches itself into the deepest parts of his brain, guilt consuming him whole as he is forced to replay the pained look written across your face as you got up to leave.
-
you avoided lo'ak like the plague.
it was like the wind had swept you away, never to be seen again, and it pained him to his very core. the hurt he felt was something he could not shake, heart feeling heavy as days, weeks passed by without a single word from you.
he attempts to remind himself that he has other things to worry about, which means your lack of presence is nowhere near the top of his priority list. but that last glimpse of you before running off, your face twisted in pure misery... well it does nothing but fan the growing flames of desire to make things right.
the desire to hold you, to take back the stupidest thing he's ever said begins to outweigh his duties. and at one point, it fully does. but by the time he musters up the courage to talk to you, it had already been a month since you last spoke.
he tried his best to find you, whether at your hut, the place you hug out in, he even checks all your favorite spots, but you're nowhere to be seen. you are just โ gone.
you were like that of a ghost, he even questioned if you were ever real, just a figment of his imagination. but alas, his anxieties are temporarily relieved as his parents and siblings begin questioning him of your sudden disappearance.
lo'ak can never give them a straight answer, tongue laying uncomfortably in his mouth as he swallows the truth of what he has done, how he ruined your friendship.
how he messed up the one good thing in his life.
his thoughts overwhelm quickly, suffocating him. visions of you crying, the angsty look gracing your beautiful features, it's all too much. his heart cannot take seeing you in pain and as he closes his eyes, he attempts to calm his fluttering heartbeat. focusing on breathing in and out, he almost misses the soft calling of his name.
"lo'ak, are you okay?" he hears his mother's voice call out, tone soft as silk as she saunters over to the boy. she sits upon the grassy floor, nimble fingers grazing his shoulders as a silent way to remind him that she is here for him.
"i messed up, ma. i really messed up," he chokes out, voice getting caught in his throat as he hangs his head low. neytiri's eyes widen at her son, she's never seeing him so vulnerable, but nonetheless scoots closer to him. she wraps her slim arms around his shoulders, wanting to protect her little boy from the harshness of the world as he falls apart in her arms.
she pursues her lips, trying to figure out what to say, but as his sobs grow in volume, she pushes away the fact that he does not need advice right now.
no, he just needs his mom.
so, she remains silent, arms engulfing him as he rests his head in the crook of her neck. he latches on tight as if he she would run away, his fingers leaving indents on her biceps as he wails. she shushes him, rubbing circles on his back soothingly as he lets all his bottled up emotions free and into the air that surrounds them both.
-
the sun is barely setting once neytiri gets lo'ak to calm down. her back pressed against a tree as he lays his head in her lap like he used to do when he was little. she hums his favorite lullaby, the same tune on his songchord to be exact. they both remain quiet as she redoes a couple of braids in her son's hair, fixing his flyaways as he eases into her gentle touch.
she doesn't want to force him to speak about the things that plague his mind, wanting for him to come to her when he's ready. so, they both focus on the soft gusts of wind that ripple through the tree leaves, the sweet whooshing sound like music to their ears.
"i think i'm ready," he states, not moving from his mother's lap. neytiri simply hums. "they had asked me if there was any place i wanted to go to, y'know if i had the chance," he begins.
"i-i basically told them that i would rather be anywhere but here, even if that meant being away from them..." he mutters, ashamed. neytiri's eyes soften upon seeing her son shrink into himself, but with a soft squeeze to his shoulder, she reminds him that there is no reason to hide how he truly feels, no need to mask his emotions when he's in her presence.
"i'm so stupid!" he cuts himself off, anger present within his voice as he gets up from his comfy position. he turns around to look at his mother, a sort of understanding gracing her features as she urges him to calm down.
she motions her hands downwards, a sort of up and down movement to emphasize her words, "mawey (calm), my son."
lo'ak nods, inhaling before asking, "what do i do, ma?" his eyes are puffy from crying, streaks of dry tears remaining on his cheeks as he fully sits in front of her. the older woman hums, lips formed into a straight line as she places her hands into his.
"ever since you two were little, y/n was the only child that was allowed to play with your toys." his brows furrow in confusion, head tilting sideways as he opens his mouth to question her words, but she wags her finger 'no' to stop him from doing so.
neytiri tries her best to point out the obvious, but knowing her son, she became all too familiar with having to take it step-by-step for him to understand the depth of an important situation, such as the one he is in now. it was like teaching a baby how to walk, she smirks at the thought as it reminds her of jake. the two were more alike than they let on.
"you care for them, deeply, that much is true. but are you willing to deny that there is not something more between you and them?" she asks, tone calm as to not scare him. lo'ak is taken aback, brows knitting in confusion as he trips over his words.
"mom, there's no way."
him... liking you? no, you're only his friend, nothing less, nothing more. he swallows the lump forming in his throat as he shies away from his her heavy gaze.
"let me put it this way, 'itan (son), they have always been there. you have grown up with them, you both know each other like the back of your hand. no matter how much time puts a wedge between your relationship, you cannot help but be reeled back into them." he squints his eyes, orbs swirling with realization as he begins to slot the pieces together. he urges her to finish, already knowing what she's going to say.
"lo'ak... you are in love with them."

โStudents?โ A gruff voice calls repeatedly as the first few forms of address remain unanswered.ย
Su-Hyeokโs eyes flutter open and he raises his head, fully aware of the neck cramp sure to bother him later on. Another thing he realizes, is that you had fallen asleep leaning on his shoulder, and he had drifted off with his head on yours. He smiles to himself momentarily, seeing you still dead to the world.ย
โKids, this is the last stop.โย
Finally turning his attention to the bus driver, Su-Hyeok looks up sheepishly. โIโm pretty sure we missed our destination.โ
The bus driver chuckles as Su-Hyeok scratches his head in confusion. โWhere were you and your girlfriend supposed to disembark at?โย
Seeing it unnecessary to deny the nature of your supposed relationship that everyone unanimously agreed on, and especially with the crush he has been harboring for years, Su-Hyeok lets himself have at least thisโno matter how untrueโif not your reciprocated feelings.ย ย
โOur history class planned a field trip for an overnight hanok stay, and the informational tour was supposed to begin hours ago. Saying we missed half of it already is probably a sore understatement.โย
โSky Guesthouse?โ
Before Su-Hyeok can confirm, you stir, confused at the darkened sky outside of the windows. The last time you were awake, it was still bright out. โHave we arrived?โ
โUhโฆyou seeโฆabout thatโ"
โWe missed it didnโt we?โ You turn to your best friend, arms crossed.ย
โThe guesthouse should only be a few blocks away,โ the bus driver intervenes. โBoth of you fell asleep for the entirety of the route, so donโt be too hard on your boyfriend here,โ he jokes.ย
Before you get a chance to refute, Su-Hyeok elbows you playfully. โSee? This kind gisanim is vouching for me.โย
You roll your eyes and begin to stand up, thankful you were in the aisle seat, and quickly grab your things. As you bow to the driver in gratitude and head towards the front of the bus, you can hear Su-Hyeok scrambling for his own belongings as he chases after you. โThank you for putting up with him, Ahjussi!โ You throw over your shoulder with a wave.ย
โIโll have you know itโs fun to be around me!โ Su-Hyeok defends, mock offended.ย
You ignore him trailing behind you and check your phone, just to see it blown up with multiple missed calls and unread messages from your friends, mainly On-Jo. โI need to stop complying to your every whim, Su-Hyeok,โ you state in exasperation, hurriedly jumping off the bus. โWhy did I agree to go with you on this roundabout trip when Cheong-Sanโs mom offered to drop us off? You know how much she adores her sonโs childhood friends.โย
Su-Hyeok matches your steps, knocking his shoulder into yours repeatedly, until you canโt help but smile. โOh, I donโt know,โ he begins to answer your question. โMaybe you just adore me more.โย
โDo not!โ You disagree half-heartedly as Su-Hyeok flashes you a crooked smile, and you have to shut your heart down.ย Curse good-looking people.ย
The tiled roof of the guesthouse slowly come into view, the buildings appearing grander as you draw nearer. Just as you reach the wooden gate, your phone dings with another text.ย Su-Hyeok peers over your shoulder as you read the text out loud. โSo apparently the tour ended long ago, as we expected and everyone already has their assigned rooms. I-Sak, On-Jo, and Nam-Ra are in one room, Cheong-San and Gyeong-Su in another, Wu-Jin, Dae-Su, and Joon-Yeong in the third, Ji-Min and Hyo-Ryung in a smaller room since itโs just the two of themโฆand Na-Yeon is by herself because she despises everyone.โย
Su-Hyeok laughs. โSounds about right.โ
You smile to yourself at the way On-Jo was giving you a rundown of everything that happened during the few hours you had missed. It was quite easy to sense her fond annoyance when she talked about Cheong-San messing with her all day through the rows of animated emojis she sent you.ย
โDo you think there are still empty rooms left for us?โย Su-Hyeok questions.
โWith a place this huge, Iโm sure theyโll find lodging for us one way or another.โย
As the two of you are about to open the door, Ms. Park beats you to it from the other side.ย โY/N, Su-Hyeok!โ Her eyes widen in surprise. โI wasnโt expecting your presence but Iโm so glad you guys finally made it.โ Ms. Park looks over the two of you, relief washing over her features after confirming nothing was out of the ordinary.ย
โWeโre so sorry, seonsaengnim,โ you apologize. โYou mustโve been worried, especially since youโre only a replacement teacher chaperone. Iโd rather you have enjoyed this field trip too instead of looking for missing students.โย
Ms. Park shakes her head, smiling. โNo need for all that, Y/N. We planned this just so you kids can relax after exams. Donโt feel guilty for running a little late; itโs supposed to be a fun, enjoyable day after all. I wonโt hold it against you.โ
โItโs not โweโ is it, Ms. Park?โ You grin knowingly. โYouโre the one who suggested this to the board of teachers, right?โย
โMaybe, maybe not.โ She winks at you and you laugh. If only the other teachers genuinely cared for their students like Ms. Park did, perhaps youโd be more inclined to put them in higher regards.ย
โWe didnโt miss anything too fun, right? Just the tour?โ Su-Hyeok asks.ย
โOf course, you would care more about the fun and less on the educational purpose, Bare-Su,โ Ms. Park teases.ย
โThatโs why we didnโt missed our stop,โ you add fuel to the fire.ย
โYouโre being a bad influence on one of my top students?โ Ms. Park stands akimbo, and you join in, happy to put Su-Hyeok on the spot.ย
โMy favorite teacher and my best friend are tag-teaming to make fun of me? Iโm hurt.โ Su-Hyeok puts a hand on his chest dramatically.ย
โYou deserve it.โ You stick your tongue out at him before Ms. Park quickly ushers you both inside.
โItโs much too late for us to stand out here in the cold. Weโll catch a draft at this rate.โ
Despite the dark, as you look around, the authentically photogenic architecture captures your attention, even more so under the faint lighting from traditional lanterns hanging from the 14th century style curved roofs.
โSince everyoneโs already gone to their respective quarters and we donโt want to disturb the other occupants, you two can share that room over there.โ Ms. Park points to one located in the corner. โEven though it gives you a humble living experience of the Joseon Dynasty, I donโt think you will mind sleeping on the timber floors as thereโs enough cozy quilts to go around, but Iโll go grab a few more for you just like I did for the others, in case you get cold at night. There should also be simple beds in there as well, no different from all the rooms here, if that makes you more comfortable and easier to sleep in.โ
โIโll help you Ms. Park. Weโve already kept you waiting, itโs the least I can do.โ Su-Hyeok offers to go get extra blankets from the hosts, gesturing for you to go ahead and check out the room first.
As you approach the timber frame of the wooden doors, your silhouette casts a shadow on the rice paper lining, and for a split second, you feel as if you were transported back centuries into the reminiscent past. Smoothly, you slide the doors open, and step over the little ledge with your sock-clad feet into the abode. The room is slightly smaller than how it looked from the outside, but the accommodation is adorned with various fragments from the ancient era, and you appreciate the privileged glimpse into a world unknown to you, lost in the passing of time.
Curious, you pull aside the folding screen ink-stained with paintings of orchids, only to realize that Ms. Park was sorely mistaken about all the rooms being the same. You hear the doors sliding open again, and in walks Su-Hyeok, balancing a stack of bedding in his arms so high you could barely see his head behind it. He sets everything down near the now-closed again entrance, only to see you standing there in the middle of the room.
Su-Hyeok tilts his head to the side, looking at you. โWhat is it? Is the room not what you expected?โ
โWell, Iโve got good news and bad news.โ
โBad news first, then.โ
โThereโs actually only one bed in this room, not two.โ
โโฆAnd the good news is?โ Su-Hyeok trails off.
โI looked earlier and it seems large enough. We can share!โ
Su-Hyeokโs eyes widen almost comically. โNo, absolutely not.โ
Confused and oblivious, your eyebrows scrunch together. โWhy on earth not? Weโve had sleepovers so often when we were little, in the same bed every time no less. You didnโt mind then.โ
Incredulous, Su-Hyeok flushes furiously. โThat was before Iโโ he halts mid-sentence.
โBefore you..?โ You lean forward, straining your ears, thinking you had missed his last words.
โNever mind. Iโll make use of the blankets I brought and you can take the bed.โ
โButโโ
โNope.โ
โSu-Hyeok, your back is going to kill you in the morning if you sleep on the floor all night,โ you try to convince, feeling guilty heโs offering you the much-more comfortable bed without hesitation.
โIโll be fine,โ he reassures you.ย
โCome on, itโs only weird if you make it weird. This is literally just a room with a bed.โ
โOne bed,โ Su-Hyeok emphasizes. โNot to mention, also just one pillow.โย
โIโll give you the pillow, then.โย
He looks at you pointedly. โWhat about you?โย
โGive me your arm,โ you tease, smiling, trying to hold in your laughter at the scandalized look on his face.ย
โAre you crazy? Youโre not getting anywhere even remotely close to persuading me to share that bed with you,โ he splutters.ย
You plop down on the bed and kick your feet back and forth. โThings could be much worse than this situation you know.โ
โDebatable.โย
You throw the pillow at him and he catches it before it hits his face, looking much too happy when you scoff.ย
โKeep it. You need it more than me.โ You fall backwards onto the bed. โRight or left?โ
โRight or left?โ
โJust choose one.โ
Regardless of his confusion, Su-Hyeok ultimately chooses right. โAlright then, Iโll leave that side open if you change your mind.โ
โI wonโt.โ
โWhatever you say.โย
โ*๏ฝฅ๏พ:โ *โ.*:๏ฝฅ๏พ.: โ*๏ฝฅ๏พ
You blindly reach for your phone, unable to sleep. The bright light hits you, causing you to squint at the time. 1:31 am. You roll over and peer down the side of the bed, seeing Su-Hyeok with his eyes closed, wrapped in blankets all the way up to his neck, more likely than not freezing in his thin white t-shirt.ย
โSu-Hyeok,โ you whisper, not expecting an answer.ย
โYeah?โ He opens one eye to look at you.ย
โI canโt sleep.โ
โNeither can I. Iโm cold.โ
โCome up here.โย
โโฆBut not that cold.โย
โYouโve layered six blankets on top of you and youโre still shivering.โ
He stares at you for a long moment in the dark until finally, he sighs, giving in. Su-Hyeok pads toward the side of the bed you left empty all night, dragging his multiple blankets and the single pillow with him. If you had to be honest, it was an endearing sight; he looked like a giant baby bundled from head to toe in the thick silks.ย
Before he even gets on the bed, he takes off one and wraps you up in it, the blanket already warm from body heat. The rest he rolls up and aligns vertically, creating a makeshift mini wall between the two of you.ย You snort at the absurdity of it, but decide not to say anything against it, lest Su-Hyeok insists on going back to the ground. He eventually crawls into bed, though his legs are too long, feet ending up hanging off the bottom edge.ย
โIsnโt this better?โ You turn to face him, seeing him already looking at you. In the dark, you can barely make out his eyes, but the proximity canโt take away from how your heart feels under his gaze.ย
Su-Hyeok slides a hand under your face and lifts your head slightly to slide the pillow below you. Now both of you were sharing a bed, a blanket, and even a pillow. With your head on half and his on the other, the only way to be comfortable was for the two of you to lay face-to-face, almost touching noses if it werenโt for the centerline of blankets.ย โMuch better.โย
He pushes more of the blanket to your side and when he draws back, your fingers brush accidentally, though he doesnโt move them away, and you donโt have the intention to do so either. โSweet dreams, Y/N,โ he says softly, before closing his eyes. Just by those small gestures alone, you were touched more than that acceptable of a friendly nature.ย
โSleep well, Su-Hyeok.โ You lay there in the darkness, your eyes lingering on him for a bit longer until you canโt keep them open anymore. This time around, sleep comes easily.ย
โ*๏ฝฅ๏พ:โ *โ.*:๏ฝฅ๏พ.: โ*๏ฝฅ๏พ
When harsh morning sunlight streams into the room, you wake up to the feeling of warm air fanning across your face. Squinting against the light before being able to open your eyes entirely, you become aware of just how close you were to Su-Hyeokโso close that you could hear his steady heartbeat, loud enough to count. You have no clue as to how you ended up enveloped completely in his arms, your head tucked tightly into the crook of his neck. The pillow wall from last night is now nonexistent, unknown to you how long it actually served a purpose, yet, you canโt find it in you to move away.
But, as your luck would have it, Su-Hyeok's eyes slowly flutter open, and he begins to stir, immediately looking down. Flustered at the current position, the only thing you could think in the moment is to kick him off the bed.The thud as he hits the floor has you scrambling, worriedly peeking your head over the edge to see that thankfully, he wasnโt hurt; annoyed, but otherwise unharmed.
โYah! You were worried about my back last night when I decided to take the floor, but instead kicking me onto it is better?โย
โSorry, sorry! It was on reflex!โ You reach down and pull him up back onto the bed, trying not to laugh as he glares at you.
Silence ensues as the two of you are at a loss for words about what happened overnight, avoiding eye contact and leaving space as wide as an ocean in between, the bed growing colder by the minute.
โDid I snore?โ Su-Hyeok suddenly asks you.
You shake your head. โDid I say weird things in my sleep?โ
[ 3:26 am]
โOn-Jo,โ you mumble.
โY/N, this is Su-Hyeok,โ he tries to reason with your still-sleeping form. โYouโre dreaming, arenโt you?โ
โNo, weโre having a serious conversation. Of course, youโre On-Jo. I can only tell you important things. Are you even listening to me?โ
โYes, I am,โ Su-Hyeok sniggers as you punch his shoulder in your sleep, feeling apologetic toward On-Jo, who was most likely on the receiving end of lot of them in the course of your friendship over the years. He could relate wholeheartedly.
โThereโs someone I really like and I keep thinking about them but I donโt know if they think about me too.โ
Su-Hyeok holds his breath so tightly in his chest that it could burst, only releasing the tension in his lungs on an exhale when he finally hears your next words.
โOn-Jo, I like Su-Hyeokโฆa lot. Do you think he feels the same?โ
โWhy wouldnโt he when itโs you?โ
โNo, I think you only had sweet dreams like I wished for you to.โ

On-Jo stands next to Su-Hyeok in the breakfast line when a familiar scent wafts across her nose. She sniffs slightly, trying to decipher what it is when it dawns on her that it was emanating from Su-Hyeok. Her eyes widen at the nuance of it.
โSu-Hyeokโฆdonโt tell meโฆโ she places a hand across her mouth in shock. โDid you and Y/N share a bed?!โ
โNo,โ he deadpans, but the blush on his face canโt hide the truth.
โReally, are you sure about that?โ On-Jo smirks slightly. โYour shirtโฆit smells like the perfume I gave Y/N as a birthday gift.โ
โThere canโt be similar fragrances?โ
โI had it personalized.โ
๐๐จ๐ง๐ฎ๐ฌ ๐๐๐๐ง๐ ๐
Su-Hyeok is the first to wake up, but as he turns to get out of bed discreetly, you grab onto his wrist lightly. โCan you stay with me?โ Just the way you said that sleepily to him was enough to convince him not to go.
"You should get some more rest. I won't leave. I promise."
He gets back into bed and you immediately huddle close to him, eyes still closed, the expression on your face much more relaxed than before. Su-Hyeokโs heart flutters in his chest as he pulls you closer, not letting go.
Maybe one day heโll tell you about what you said in your sleep.
Maybe one day heโll tell you about the kiss he pressed against your forehead and how you smiled afterwards.

Jude Bellingham x journalist!Reader. Drabble.
warning for language. no dialogue. jude is whipped.
Jude can feel blood rush in his veins, the gentle thrumming of his heart occupying his ears. Jesus, was it always this loud?
Cool. Calm. Collected. Weren't those the words that would always accompany his name? But God, right now he felt anything but.
Enamoured. Enraptured. Enchanted.
The waves of your sweet cadence of your voice washing over him, the tide so strong that it kept pulling Jude back into you. The dips in your pitch almost itching a scratch in Jude's brain that he didn't even know he had.
God he hopes he's hiding it well; pleads to some unknowing force that his face isn't plastered by the affairs of his heart.
You must be a new hire because he has never seen you before. Or at least he doesn't recall seeing you before. Yeah right, he almost scoffs to himself, like he could ever forget a face like yours; so bright and warm. Was the light fucking bending in your presence to you?
The soft curl of your lips has Jude in a daze. He wonders if they taste sweet, wonders if you taste sweet, almost sickengly like your perfume; peach and hints of vanilla. Sinful.
The pause in your voice snaps him out of his reverie. Your eyes were wide, eyebrows turned up expectantly, the microphone clutched in your grip was now turned towards him. Shit. You had asked him a question. What did you ask? Think Jude, think. Something about his goal tonight? How beautiful it was and if he had any comments on it?
He wanted to laugh. Beautiful? What did he know about beauty when he had only now met you? Jude felt like an inadequate apprentice, yearning to be under your tutelage so you could teach him. What business did a blind man have in describing a starry sky?
Jude licked his lips. He didn't want to disappoint you. So he spoke, stringing together words as best he could, not even sure what he was saying. You were smiling now, eyes crinkling near your edges as he spoke. Fucking angelic. You must have liked what he said, your light giggle almost sending him to heaven.
He wanted to hear it again, mind abuzz with how he could make that happen.
Jude felt himself be gently pushed. What was their problem? Couldn't they see he was busy? Dressing room, he heard someone mutter, almost paying no attention to those words. Everything else was so dull in comparison to you.
His feet were moving now despite his reluctance, eyes still stuck to the vision that you were, your shy wave of farewell clutching his heart in a death grip. Jude couldn't resist the smile that adorned his face, the sound of your giggle reverberating in his chest and echoing in his ears.
What had you just done to him?

Pairing: Hwang Jun-ho x Lawyer!reader

Jun-ho was captivated when he first saw you
It was as if time had momentarily paused, the bustling sounds of the gym fading into a distant hum. You were there, effortlessly moving through your routine, your focus unwavering as you executed each exercise with ease. The early morning light streamed through the large windows, casting a warm glow around you, and highlighting the sweat etched on your face. Jun-ho felt himself in awe for the first time.
After a prolonged hiatus from physical activity, he had spent days convincing himself to return to the gym, following his doctor's advice to slowly add exercise into his routine.
When he finally gathered the resolve to step back into that world, he chose the early morning hours, when the gym was blissfully quiet and only a few people scattered around. It allowed him to ease back into his workouts.
It wasn't that he felt insecure about his physique; rather, he found it difficult to endure the stars directed at his injury. It served as a constant reminder of the whole situation. He could almost hear the whispers of concern and curiosity from those around him, their eyes flickering to his injury before darting away, leaving him feeling exposed and vulnerable.
But then, there you were, looking so beautiful. As you moved from one machine to another, with your small duffle bag that had pretty small bows attached to the zipper. He watched as you did every rep and set of your workout.
With each passing moment, he felt his heart raceโnot just from the physical exertion of his workout, but from seeing you pass him without a second glance as you reach for the dumbbells.
He was okay with admiring you from afar, you didnโt seem like the talkative type anyway. He would watch men his age try to shoot their shot with a smug smile, only to be either painfully rejected or completely ignored. That was enough for him to keep his distance, not wanting to meet the same fate. He overheard one of them saying you worked as a criminal defense lawyer and he grew curious about your occupation. Heโd met several as a detective but had never seen you before. Maybe you were new, you looked like you were in your late 20โs and he had to guess you were 26 at the very least.
Jun-ho knew next to nothing about you, yet he found himself admiring you as you exercised in the tranquil hours of the morning. The soft glow of the rising sun painted the sky in hues of orange and pink, casting a warm light on your movements. Despite this growing crush of his, he recognized that he should put his attention towards his responsibilities. He knew his feelings would lead to things he wasnโt sure he was ready to face, but the thought of you lingered on his mind like a tattoo.
It wasnโt until someone came up to you that he would make his move.
He watched as another man made his way up to you, and a wave of unease washed over him. He remained rooted in place as a man tapped your shoulder just as you stepped off the machine, your body glistening with sweat. You had an exhausted look on your face, still trying to catch your breath from the intense workout. Jun-ho noticed the way your lips pressed together, a line of confusion forming between your brows. The manโs hand rested on your shoulder, rubbing it gently back and forth.
Jun-ho could sense your discomfort with the man's touch, and just as he started to approach, your eyes darted to him, your eyes wide with urgency. The gesture was a clear signal, a plea for help. He felt a surge of adrenaline, his heart racing as he took a step forward, walking towards you.
The man, oblivious to the tension building in the air, continued his casual pat, a smirk playing on his lips as if he were simply engaging in friendly banter. But Jun-ho could see the way your body tensed, the slight flinch of your shoulder under the man's hand. It was a subtle but unmistakable sign that you wanted him to stop, that this interaction was making you uncomfortable.
โHeyโ Jun-ho called out, his voice firm yet steady, cutting through the quiet music echoing in the gym. The man turned, his expression shifting from casual amusement to mild annoyance as he registered Jun-hoโs presence. โI think sheโs uninterested,โ Jun-ho added, stepping closer, his posture protective. He could feel the heat radiating from your skin, the lingering effects of the workout mingling with the discomfort of the situation.
You looked at Jun-ho, your eyes searching for reassurance, and he gave a tiny nod in return. The manโs smirk faltered, and he raised an eyebrow, clearly taken aback by the sudden confrontation. โWhatโs your problem?โ he shot back, his tone defensive, but Jun-ho could see the uncertainty flickering behind his supposed tough facade.
โThe problem is that she doesnโt want to be touched by you,โ Jun-ho replied, his voice steady, unwavering. He could feel the tension in the air, as the other gym-goers began to take notice of the unfolding scene. The man looked away embarrassed, his jaw clenching as he looked at Jun-ho.
โJust mind your business dude, I wasnโt doing anything wrong.โ He scowled, his fingers were tightened into a fist, and he reluctantly released his grip on you.
You gave him an incredulous look before scoffing. โYou got mad at me for saying to fuck off, refusing to let go of me.โ
โCโmon quit being such a bitch, youโre just playing hard to get.โ Jun-ho had just enough time to stop you from punching the dude, pulling you back by your waist. The man gasped in shock as you attempted to land a punch on him. It wasnโt long before one of the other seven people in the gym called security on him, who then escorted him out. He left out a series of profanities at you and the male beside you.
The gym had begun to go back to its usual routine and Jun-ho was beginning to awkwardly walk away before he heard you call out to him.
Thank you for that,โ you say, feeling warmth rise to your cheeks. Naturally, your first encounter with your gym crush of two months involved him intervening just as you were about to punch someone. He nervously rubbed the back of his neck, trying to ease his nervousness. You found yourself fidgeting with your fingers, offering him a timid smile.
Jun-ho was a total wreck as you looked up at him, His dark hair fell slightly over his forehead, and you could see the faintest hint of a blush creeping up his cheeks, mirroring your own. The way he shifted his weight from one foot to the other made him seem almost boyish, a stark contrast to the muscular physique that had caught your eye in the first place.
โUh, I just thought you might need some help,โ he stammered, his voice a mix of sincerity and nervousness. You could tell he was trying to play it cool, but the way his eyes darted around the gym, avoiding direct contact with yours, revealed his unease. It was endearing, really, and you couldnโt help but feel a warm, fluttery feeling in your stomach.
โYeah, I really appreciate it,โ you replied, your voice barely above a whisper. You could feel your heart racing, and you hoped he couldnโt hear it over the noise of the gym. โI didnโt want to cause a scene, butโฆโ You trailed off, unsure of how to express the mix of gratitude and embarrassment swirling inside you. You werenโt talkative, opting to study most of the time instead of hanging out with friends. You were in no position to waste your time after graduation, finding a job was incredibly difficult, and only a year and a half ago you were able to secure a job at a firm. Being 28 and having no social life meant that you were lonely most of the time.
Only four months ago had you begun to go to the gym before work, finding it therapeutic and a way to release stress. Then you began to notice the quiet male who stayed away in one corner of the gym, having his headphones on most of the time which left you hesitant to go up to him.
Jun-ho nodded, his expression softening as he finally met your gaze. โNo he was making you uncomfortable but maybe go about a different tactic.โ His words made you laugh out of embarrassment. There was a moment of silence before you both spoke in unison.
โCan I have-โ
โAre you single-โ
You and Jun-ho looked at each other with surprise and you let out a laugh. He quickly followed with a chuckle before asking you again.
โCan I have your number and possibly go out for dinner?โ He asked with a shy smile. You nodded quickly as you took out your phone.
Your heart raced as you felt a mix of excitement and nervousness. This was unexpected, yet it felt right. You glanced up at him, catching the way his eyes sparkled with anticipation.
โSure, Iโd love that,โ you replied, trying to keep your voice steady despite the fluttering in your stomach. You could see the relief wash over his face, and it made you smile even wider.
As you handed him your phone, your fingers brushed against his, sending a small jolt of electricity through you. He took your phone, his hands slightly trembling as he entered his number. You watched him, noticing the way his brow furrowed in concentration, and you couldnโt help but admire the way his dark hair fell just above his eyes.
As handing your phone back to you, you take account of the time and your eyes widen in disbelief.
โShit, I need to go but make sure to call me!โ As you grab your small duffle bag you give him a small peck on the cheek as you quickly make your way out the doors.
Huh, maybe it was a good thing he decided to listen to his doctor for once.
trent blurb : having a full album of pictures of you in his phone.. loving to take candid pictures all the time and changing his wallpaper to his fav ones of you
he is obsessed with taking pics of you, he thinks you look so beautiful when you aren't trying, with a smile on your face as you watch a bird using the bird feeder you put out or when you're concentrating on a piece of work you have to get done. he has so many pictures of you asleep on his chest or when you're starfished out on the bed when he wakes up in the morning. he ends up making an album for you, naming it something corny that reminds him of you, he has a slideshow background of his favourite ones. you always blush when you need to use his phone, being welcomed by your face when you open up his phone. his friends always tease him about it, telling him that he's whipped for you but he doesn't care, he's obsessed with you can doesn't care who knows.

Warnings - none
The sun was beginning to set over the devastated remains of Hyosan, casting long shadows across the abandoned school rooftop. It had a few days since the outbreak began, and survival had become your only priority. But amidst the chaos and despair, there had been one bright spot: Lee Cheongsan.
Cheongsan had been your rock, your anchor in a world that was falling apart. When everything else seemed hopeless, he was the one who kept you going. And somewhere along the way of navigating life and death, your friendship had blossomed into something deeperโsomething neither of you had anticipated but both of you clung to like a lifeline.
The problem was, you hadnโt told anyone.
It wasnโt that you were ashamed. Far from it. But the world you lived in now wasnโt exactly conducive to romance. Every day was a fight for survival, and youโd both agreed that keeping your relationship a secret was saferโat least for now. Still, it wasnโt easy pretending your heart didnโt skip a beat every time he looked at you, or that his touch didnโt send shivers down your spine.
Now, as you sat together on the cold concrete floor of the school, you couldnโt help but steal a glance at him. His face was streaked with blood, his hair disheveled, but to you, heโd never looked more perfect. He caught you staring and raised an eyebrow, a small smile tugging at the corners of his lips.
โWhat?โ he asked, his voice low enough that the others, who were gathered a few feet away, couldnโt hear.
You shook your head, a smile of your own forming. โNothing. Just... you.โ
He chuckled softly, his hand brushing against yours where it rested on the floor. The small gesture sent a spark of warmth through you, a moment of normalcy in a world that had none.
But that moment was shattered when Namraโs voice cut through the quiet. โWhat are you two whispering about?โ
You and Cheongsan froze, your eyes darting to the group of survivors who were now looking your way. Namraโs expression was unreadable, but there was a glint of curiosity in her eyes. Beside her, Suhyeok smirked, clearly sensing something was up.
โNothing,โ Cheongsan said quickly, too quickly. It was enough to make everyone suspicious.
โOh, come on,โ Suhyeok said, leaning back against the wall with a grin. โYou two have been acting weird for days. Whatโs going on?โ
โWeird?โ you echoed, trying to sound indignant but failing miserably. Your voice wavered just enough to give you away, and Dae-suโs laughter boomed through the courtyard.
โI knew it!โ he exclaimed, pointing a finger at the two of you. โYouโre hiding something!โ
โWeโre not hiding anything,โ Cheongsan said, but the way his ears turned red betrayed him. You could practically feel the heat radiating off him, and it took everything in you not to burst out laughing at how adorably flustered he looked.
โOh, really?โ Suhyeok said, his grin widening. โBecause it sure seems like you are.โ
Namra crossed her arms, her gaze flicking between you and Cheongsan. โYou might as well tell us. Itโs not like we have anything better to do right now.โ
You sighed, realizing there was no way out of this. Cheongsan met your eyes, silently asking if you were okay with telling them. You gave him a small nod, and he took a deep breath before turning back to the group.
โFine,โ he said, his voice steady despite the blush still coloring his cheeks. โWeโre... weโre together.โ
The reaction was immediate. Suhyeok let out a loud, exaggerated โI knew it!โ while Dae-su whooped and clapped his hands like heโd just won the lottery. Even Ji-min, who had been quietly picking at a piece of bread, looked up with wide eyes.
โFinally,โ Suhyeok said, shaking his head in mock exasperation. โI was starting to think you two would never admit it.โ
โWait,โ Dae-su said, leaning forward with a mischievous grin. โHow long has this been going on? Were you sneaking off for secret make-out sessions while we were fighting zombies?โ
Your face burned, and you opened your mouth to protest, but Cheongsan beat you to it. โItโs not like that,โ he said, though his defensive tone only made Dae-su laugh harder.
โSure, sure,โ Dae-su said, winking at you. โWhatever you say, Romeo.โ
Despite the teasing, you could see the genuine happiness in their expressions. Even Namraโs usually stoic face had softened, a faint smile playing on her lips. For a brief moment, it felt like things were normal again, like you were just a group of teenagers hanging out after school instead of survivors in the middle of an apocalypse.
But the moment didnโt last. It never did.
MY TESTWEEK FINALLY ENDED THANK GOD IM SO HAPPYYYY
