Paper Cranes đ“…„ ❁ÛȘÛȘàœŽàœ»â™Ą ͎. ïœĄËšJang Woo-Jin X Reader

Woo-Jin didn’t know what to do anymore. A gentle breeze embraced him in its brief coolness as he looked on at Y/N, entranced. The feeling inside him was overpowering, made his heart ache every time he saw her, every time he thought of her.

“Earth to Woo-Jin?”

Woo-Jin snapped out of his reverie, seeing Y/N now looking at him, confused.

He cleared his throat. “What is it?”

He and Y/N were at the entrance of the school, going back inside after gym class, the air-conditioned building cooling after their laps around the track.

“I was going to ask you what you wanted to do during break, but I guess you must he fantasizing about today’s specials or something, because-”

Shrill screams erupted from the end of the hall.

Y/N froze, along with Woo-Jin, who looked warily at the nurse’s office. The sound came the school nurse, who charged at two students who were outside her office. The students, however, leaped out of the way just in time, making her bash into the wall. They jeered at her, their phones out as they recorded the ‘drunk’ nurse.

The sound of cracking bones came from the nurse then, who got back up with a piercing screech, and bit one of the students in the neck. He screamed out in agony, and that was all it took for Y/N and Woo-Jin to come back to their senses.

“Shit. Run!” Woo-Jin cried, grabbing Y/N’s hand and racing up the stairs.

It was chaos, students running this way and that, with no sense of direction whatsoever, their instincts screaming at them to just get away from the source of danger. Woo-Jin was more composed however, settling on getting to his and Y/N’s classrooms as fast as possible, and regroup with their classmates.

Reaching their classroom’s floor, Woo-Jin hurriedly shoved Y/N into the classroom, sliding the door shut again. The students who were already in the classroom were standing now, looking at the two of them in confusion.

Y/N stood by the door, catching her breath after such a panicked run.

“What the hell is going on?” Gyeong Su asked, peeking out their class’ windows.

“I don’t know, the nurse bit a student, and then, shit.” Woo-Jin explained, too, out of breath.

Y/N couldn’t blame him for not being able to explain all they saw. Anyone who’d had to explain themselves would sound insane; no matter how they worded it.

More shrill screams came from all over, and then the group saw it. They’re first zombie. It ran across the hall, being seen by the group through the class’ windows, its mouth bloody and its body contorted in awkward and painful angles as it ran.

Y/N placed a hand over her mouth, horrified.

Woo-Jin felt useless in this moment, useless in that he couldn’t comfort his best friend, Y/N, in such a horrific situation.

Woo-Jin sat on a swing in his apartment’s compound, alone. He enjoyed how peaceful it was, though he had to admit; it would be better to enjoy with someone else.

It felt a little eerie being alone in the playground during late noon, when the sky was now turning into a mesmerizing swirl of egg yolk, brilliant reds and hints of the once blue sky. Other kids his age were probably in their apartments now, washing up and getting ready for dinner, like what he should be doing right now.

His parents always came home late, though, so he opted to stay outside instead of being cooped up in the apartment and staring at the ceiling.

He swung on the swing gently, closing his eyes and enjoying the coolness of the last moments of the afternoon.

“Do you mind if I join you?”

Woo-Jin, startled, shot his eyes open, getting up from the swing.

A girl about his age smiled at him in confusion, and he sat back down. “Sorry, you gave me quite the scare there.”

“And um, sure, you can join me.”

Y/N sat on the swing directly beside him, also gently swinging herself forward and gazing up at the sunset before them.

“So, what’s your name?” She asked, now looking to him.

“Woo-Jin, what’s yours?”

She smiled at him. “I’m Y/N”

A weird feeling started to sprout in Woo-Jin’s stomach then, from seeing her smile like that. Her smile was really pretty.

“I live in apartment 20, third floor. Where’s yours?”

“Hey! I’m in apartment 21!” Y/N perked up.

“Wanna hang out like this everyday after school then?” Deep in his heart he hoped with every single fibre of his being that she’d say yes, and sure enough,

“I’d like that.”

Then she smiled that gorgeous, heart-stopping smile of hers, and Woo-Jin felt like he had just won in life.

From there, their friendship began to take shape, and they were inseparable all throughout their school years. And with each second they spent together, the strange ache in Woo-Jin’s heart only grew stronger.

Present day

Three days had past since their initial first encounter with the cannibalistic students of Hyosan High. Their group’s numbers had whittled down now; I-Sak, Gyeong Su, and Na Yeon, and even their teacher, Ms. Park, all lost to the horrors outside.

Now they were in the gym, stuck inside the storage room after losing a senior, who sacrificed himself for the group. Mi Jin’s cries had died down to her resting her head in her arms now, being consoled by Woo-Jin’s sister, Ha-Ri.

Woo-Jin sat beside Y/N, sneaking glances at her as she looked forward into nothingness, head on some cloud, trying to forget all that had happened these past few days.

He had tried to talk to her any chance he could, tried to reassure her throughout the hell they were in, but every time he did, he would get interrupted, either by someone coming up with a new plan, or by zombies chasing them down.

But now, as the group drifted off to rest for the day, he could finally do something to calm her nerves down.

“Y/N”

Y/N turned to Woo-Jin, mustering up the best smile she could. She was exhausted, as all of them were.

Most of the time, she was stuck in her thoughts whenever the group had decided to take a break, like right now, in the gym’s storage room.

She dreamed of what she would be doing now had the hellish situation they were all in right now happened, or, to be more specific, what she and Woo-Jin would have been doing now.

Y/N had always had feelings for Woo-Jin, she knew he didn’t feel the same, however. It was silly to think her best friend saw her as anything else other than that; a best friend. She had wanted to come clean that day, at lunch, tell him how she felt, tell him that she couldn’t take this torturous game of her one sided love for him; and that if he never wanted to speak to her again, she wouldn’t mind. It would be less painful that way.

But she never got the chance, terror lurked around every nook and cranny, and Y/N wanted to stay on her feet, on guard. And if she had the chance to rest, she would, and take the slim time period she had fantasizing of how perfect her life would be had this whole thing not happened.

And in some improbable universe, had Woo-Jin liked her back, she’d be the happiest girl on earth, she’d feel like nothing else mattered, and it would be just the two of them, like always, against the world.

Y/N didn’t know what it was with him, why of all people, she liked her best friend.

Maybe it was the way he smiled, his sharp features, how caring he was, how thoughtful he was towards others, his personality, the way he made Y/N laugh, no matter the situation without fail. Or maybe it was all of those qualities that attracted her.

He was perfect to Y/N, which was why she could never have him. It hurt her, but the truth would always remain the same; hurtful and ugly, and only nice to others somehow luckier than her.

“Y/N?”

Y/N realised she’d been staring at Woo-Jin this whole time.

Her cheeks flushed, shooting him a quick smile.

“Yeah?”

Woo-Jin’s heart flipped at seeing her smile. It never failed to woo him, no matter what.

He reached out for her hand, grabbing it in his, and placing a chaste kiss on her knuckles, all while lookin up at her. His grip remained on her hand, holding it close to him.

“I wanted to let you know, that no matter what happens, I will always protect you. If I don’t make it, I’ll make sure you will.”

Y/N, stunned at his display of affection toward her, nodded slowly, her smile growing and her cheeks growing hotter by the second.

She added ‘gentlemanly’ to the list of qualities she loved about him to her mental notes.

But then she realised the last part of what he said.

‘If I don’t make it, I’ll make sure you will.’

Hell, no.

Her smiled fell from her face, confusing Woo-Jin.

“Hey. Promise me that we’ll both make it out alive. You can’t die, I won’t let you. We have to make it out together, okay?”

Y/N squeezed his hand.

“Please.” She pleaded softly.

Woo-Jin nodded, knowing full well he was lying to her. “I promise.”

His fingers were crossed behind his back.

Woo-Jin felt like he was overflowing. The feeling of butterflies in his stomach, the way his heart did flips whenever he saw her, thoughts of her on his mind 25/8.

She was perfect, so so perfect, which was why he knew she’d never like him back.

Her smile, her laugh, her personality, her humour, her thoughtfulness, how caring she was; those were only some of the things he loved about her; her smile especially.

On any given day when he was down or gloomy, her smile could always lift his spirits, change his mood for the better, like it was magic.

Today he and Y/N had agreed to go home together, and go to their special place.

He leaned against the gate, patiently awaiting Y/N as closed his eyes.

He heard footsteps, but pretended he didn’t still closing his eyes.

“Boo!” Woo-Jin didn’t flinch.

Y/N wrapped her arms around him then, which definitely elicited a reaction out of him.

“Y-Y/N. Hi.”

“Hey dumbo. Ready to go?”

“Of course. Race you!”

“Hey!” Y/N ran after him, calling after him, annoyed the whole way.

The pair, panting, reached their apartment complex at last. Y/N shoved him playfully. “Hey! You caught me off guard, you should’ve told me first, then run off!”

Woo-Jin smirked. “I did do that though. You’re just slow.”

Y/N rolled her eyes, letting him have this one.

It was only 5.30 when they arrived home; the perfect time for them to go to their special place together.

The playground was empty, as usual, and a bit more rusted in some areas than 5 or so years ago; but it was still the same place they had met.

The place when Woo-Jin had met, and fallen in love with an angel.

The pair sat down on their swings, in the same fashion as when they first met, with Woo-Jin on the left, and Y/N on the right. They swung themselves gently on the swings, looking out at the sky, now a whirl of different colours; most notably, the colour of egg yolk.

They just sat there, enjoying the quiet, and each others presence.

“Never gets old, does it?” Woo-Jin turned to Y/N as he asked.

Y/N smiled. “No, it doesn’t.”

“I can almost remember being 12 and meeting you. It feels like I’ve gone back in time with a time machine.”

Y/N giggled, “I remember I scared you into standing up when I first talked to you.” She laughed again.

Woo-Jin felt his heart do a flip again. Her smile and laugh- all in one? Instant heart eyes toward Y/N.

He grinned at her, glancing at her hand she used to hold the swings’ chain. He sucked in a deep breath; taking the chance.

He reached for her hand, holding in his. Y/N looked to their hands, then to Woo-Jin, a confused smile on her face. Woo-Jin smiled back, and they stayed there, sat on the swings beside each other, staring off into the sunset.

Had Woo-Jin paid more attention, he would’ve noticed the prominent crimson of a blush spreading across Y/N’s face; and the giddy smile that broke through.

Present day, 3 hours later

Y/N pushed the equipment carts as hard as she could, tears streaming down her face as she fought the zombies attempts at grabbing her. The sadness in her heart ached so bad, it weakened her, but she strengthened her resolve; she’d do this, for Joon Young. She’d survive, and help all her friends survive in honour of Joon Young.

“Fuck off undead shitheads!” Y/N screamed, anger seeping through her pain as she pushed with all her might.

She heard panic ensue over where a few of her friends were trying to get the door open, hearing them say it was locked, but she didn’t care. Not now. She’d help keep the barrier strong, for them all to get out of this shithole, no matter what.

She groaned, and then she saw him.

Joon Young, through a crack in her barrier.

He was bloody, and no longer human, a crazed look in his eye. He was gone, yet he was right in front of her. Y/N screamed at the sight. The pain was too fresh to see him this soon.

“Fuck off, fuck off, fuck off! Get away from me!”

“Y/N, let’s go!”

“Stay away from me
” Her voice cracked, Joon Young’s face was everywhere now.

She had been pulled from her part of the barrier by Woo-Jin, who closed the door shut just in time for them to miss the zombies.

Woo-Jin grabbed Y/N’s shoulders, shaking her. “Y/N, keep it together! Come on, you almost died there.”

“Sorry. I don’t know what came over me.”

Woo-Jin clicked his tongue, pulling her into a tight embrace.

“You could’ve died there. Don’t do that ever again, okay?”

Y/N nodded, a few stray tears dampening Woo-Jin’s sweater vest. Being able to hold her now and comfort her made Woo-Jin want to survive even more, to help her through this messy situation. He wanted to always be there for her, but he knew it would all come to a close soon.

It always did.

But at least he did it for the person he care for most in this world,

Y/N.

4 hours later

Everyone was grabbing their weapons, all readying themselves for the fight that was about to ensue.

Y/N’s heartbeat quickened as Nam Ra told them all that they were coming.

Breathe, breathe, breathe.

Y/N cried out as she fought zombies left and right, stabbing them, and kicking them down. She was doing well, until one got dangerously close to her, almost biting her in the arm. She stabbed it in the neck, killing it, which grabbed the attention of another zombie from afar.

She lost her balance, quickly getting up, and the creature ran to her at an inhuman speed, but before it could get close to her, Woo-Jin shielded her, pinning her down to the ground.

Y/N shocked, just stared at him, as the zombie inched closer and closer.

“What are you doing? Move out of the way!”

“No. I’m keeping my promise to keep you alive.”

“You idiot, you promised me we’d both survive!”

Woo-Jin smiled a sad smile at Y/N, showing her his fingers, which were crossed.

Y/N took the chance to roll him out the way, stabbing the zombie just in time before it got to either of them. It fell to its side, now truly dead.

She took a moment to catch her breath, turning to Woo-Jin, with a glare that made his heart sink. She’d never ever glared at him like that before.

Y/N felt enraged at him, at how he was ready to kill himself for her, when she had the whole thing under control. He promised her, he never broke his promises, but now, right now when she needed him most- he decided to break her trust, and to what? Sacrifice himself and die a pointless, painful death, when she could’ve protected herself.

Remembering the promise he had made boiled her blood even more now as she looked back on it.

“Liar.”

She uttered but one word, yet it hit and stabbed into Woo-Jin’s heart like a million shards of glass, all twisting in the area they had punctured; full of seething rage at his one lie to Y/N.

Woo-Jin tried grabbing her wrist, to tell her why he did what he did- but she snatched her hand away, without a single glance back at him. He stood there, dejected, looking on as she ran to help Mi Jin with the last zombie.

Y/N,

Why can’t you understand that I love you so much, that I’d sacrifice myself for you to live on and be happy?

7 hours later

Woo-Jin felt saddened beyond belief now as they were all being questioned by the military.

He had hurt Y/N that bad, that she didn’t even want to look at him.

They were sat at the back on metal chairs, with some of the group closing their eyes to rest for a bit, and some just staring into oblivion.

He tried to make eye contact with Y/N, but she would always find a way to avoid his gaze, and now, her tactic was to console On-Jo through losing Cheong San. Her voice was sweet to On-Jo; full of love, and support, kind and soft, like how she usually talked to him.

But he knew that if he tried to talk to her now, she’d ignore him, or worse, shrug him off with a tone of thorns, and a voice uncharacteristically dismissive and full of anger.

He wanted to hold her so bad, wanted to tell her he loved her so damn much.

But she put a wall around herself, and Woo-Jin feared it would never fall.

êš„ ⋆·˚ àŒ˜ *

They were all in quarantine now, in separate rooms, too. Luckily though, he managed to get a room directly next to Y/N’s.

Woo-Jin sat, slumped against the room’s wall, staring at the ceiling as he thought of his current predicament.

He and Y/N hadn’t talked for a week now, and it was driving him insane. Usually, they never went a single day without at least saying hi to the other, but now? Things were obviously very different, and Woo-Jin grew anxious in seeing how things would turn out, and wether or not they were even friends anymore.

He hated the quiet of the quarantine room, so so much. The quiet only made him think of Y/N, and thoughts of her only made his heart ache. She probably hated him, and would never trust him again.

It was a simple break of a promise, and he had broken it for her sake; because he loved her.

He loved her, so so much.

The days that their group had been fighting for their lives were some of the scariest moments Woo-Jin had ever gone through; yet, even through the moments of his one goal being that to survive, his mind somehow always drifted to Y/N, her smile, her laugh

She reminded him of why he needed to live.

But then, the bleakness of the situation really set in once they lost so many of their friends.

Then, he reflected on himself, and how he saw things going.

He promised himself that day, that he’d never let Y/N be lost to the horrors, he promised himself, that no matter what, he would do whatever it took to save her, and to keep her alive.

Woo-Jin sighed, looking over the plain and barren room. A bed with a mediocre comfort level, a table in the corner with a stack of papers, and a chair to go along with it. This was the room he’d be stuck in for around half a year? That and he couldn’t even get out of the room to talk to his friends for another week. Y/N probably wouldn’t want to talk to him then, either.

An idea hit Woo-Jin then.

Sitting himself down on the desk,

Woo-Jin smiled. Origami was something he and Y/N loved and frequently did back a few years ago to just pass the time, or to destress after a long day. They still did it sometimes, for old time’s sake, though. Despite them hardly ever doing origami anymore, Woo-Jin made sure to know and memorise the folding of Y/N’d favourite origami model, just in case. And until now, he knew, her favourite origami model was the paper crane, graceful and beautiful, two things Woo-Jin associated with Y/N.

And now, Woo-Jin realised why the crane was Y/N’s favourite.

Some say the things we like are a physical manifestation of how we are; for instance, a person who likes football would most likely be competitive and determined, some of the two things that are needed to play the sport.

For here, in Y/N’s case, one of her favourite things is a paper crane; tied to the qualities of beauty and elegance, of which Woo-Jin saw Y/N as an embodiment of. The saying never gleamed truer than now, with an example right on the tip of his nose.

Grabbing a pen from the desk, he clicked it, and took a deep breath in.

He had so much to say to her, it would never fit on this tiny square he’d cut out. That was the state of his love for Y/N, never once decreasing in its magnitude, but rather growing, by each second of each and everyday. Another idea hit Woo-Jin then, though the ‘project’ of his would take quite a while to finish.

“Screw it.”

He began to write, the words coming out smooth, gliding on the paper like second nature to Woo-Jin as if he had been practicing and preparing for this moment for the past 5 years.

Which, he has.

ÊšÉžđ–„» đ‘șïčąâ— ꜝ àŁȘđ“ˆ’Ù«

4 months. 4 months of quarantine, and they were all finally out.

Y/N breathed in the fresh air, looking around the camp for her friends. And one she definitely needed to find,

Woo-Jin.

She owed him an apology, for ignoring him, getting mad at him when he had only tried to protect her.

“Y/N?”

Y/N froze, recognising that voice.

She turned around, facing Woo-Jin, their eyes meeting. Y/N had always loved his eyes, and his smile. She loved all of him, really.

“Woo-Jin!” Y/N ran to give him a hug, and he hugged her back just as tight, grasping on to her by her waist, holding on to her like she was something so delicate, she would break lest he hold on to her. Woo-Jin pulled away, but kept his hold on Y/N by her waist, still not believing that he was really holding her now.

“Hey.” Y/N breathed, looking up at Woo-Jin, a small smile on her face.

“Hey.”

It had been so long since she and Woo-Jin had seen each other, this moment almost felt like a dream, one all too good to be true. Yet, no matter how many time she tried, Y/N could never wake from her supposed dream. This was all real. His hold on her waist, flush against his body, all real, flesh and bone.

“I have something to give you.”

Woo-Jin smiled, reaching into his pocket, and taking out a packed envelope. “Open it back in your quarters.”

Y/N nodded, graciously accepting the letter, and putting it into her own coat’s pocket.

“I have to go now, but I’ll see you later, alright?”

Inside, Y/N felt saddened at his words.

Don’t go.

Despite that, she nodded.

“Alright, stay safe.” Woo-Jin let go of Y/N, his warmth going along with him. Y/N watched as he walked away, guilt gnawing at her. She was supposed to apologise, but she was too wrapped up in his splendor, his aura, to even remember anything else.

She sighed, taking the letter out, and walking back to her quarters to open it.

Now inside, she shut the door, sitting herself on the side of her bed, and took a moment to get her bearings. Okay, it was just a letter, there was no need to panic. It’s just a letter, no need to freak out. But this was different. This letter was from Woo-Jin. God, this was all so stupid, it was a letter, for goodness sake just open it-

Y/N flipped the flap open, revealing paper cranes, flattened to fit into the letter. She smiled, paper cranes were her favourite, and Woo-Jin remembered. As she took them out, she noticed writing on the paper cranes, piquing her interest, she unfolded the first crane she took out; finding a note, addressed to her. She took out the rest of the cranes, finding them all to have writing on their bodies. “Woo-Jin, the creative.”

Unfolding them all, she checked to make sure she read them in chronological order- she didn’t want to spoil his order of his sending these to her.

Taking a deep breath, she began reading the letters.

Dear Y/N, 9/7/2022

I know you’re probably mad furious at me right now. I broke your trust, and I should’ve never done that. But I hope you understand, that what I did, was to protect you. I didn’t see a clear way out of the mess we were going through then. So many people were lost, I just
I didn’t want you to be one of them. -Woo-Jin

Dear Y/N, 18/7/2022

Sometimes I lay awake at night, thinking of you. Sometimes I feel like I can hear our classmates, now turned into stars, twinkling teasingly at me. I don’t know what I would’ve done if I had lost you. Thank you, for staying alive. -Woo-Jin

Dear Y/N, 10/8/2022

I think I’m going insane. It’s been so long since we last spoke. I miss your voice, your laugh, your smile; the way your eyes light up whenever you talk about something you like. I miss our conversations a lot. I miss you, a lot. - Woo-Jin

To Y/N, 29/8/2022

I’m trying to shake things up a little: instead of ‘dear’ I wrote ‘to’ I’m super creative like that aren’t I? Anyway, I was just thinking about our days in middle school. Remember that time you didn’t have a jacket and it was super cold out, so I gave you mine? You never gave it back, and honestly, I never cared to have it back. I thought it looked much better on you, than it did on me. I hope I helped you keep warm that day, because seeing you happy definitely warmed me up. -Woo-Jin

Dear Y/N, 6/9/2022

I keep reminiscing about our old days. I think, now, after replaying a handful back, I’ve found my favourite. It was when we went to the park, it started raining, but we didn’t have an umbrella on us, so we just decided to accept our fate and get rained on. Then you forced me to dance with you in the rain! I loved seeing the way you glowed among the relative darkness of dusk, your eyes sparkling and seeing your bright smile. Holding you close to me when we did the waltz was my favourite part of that day by far. My mum did scold me when I got home soaking wet, but I wouldn’t have changed anything from that day for the world. - Woo-Jin

To Y/N, 21/9/2022

How are you holding up? I know I won’t get an answer from you since, well, you’re not reading this during quarantine
but I’ll still ask, because I care. Anyways, I thought about this for a good few hours, and I think I’ve come up with a good list of things we need to get done once we get out of this place. First, we go to Disneyland (I’ll pay for the tickets, don’t worry. Food’s on you, though.), go stargazing in some field (you’ve been saying how you’ve been wanting to do that- so we should get it done ASAP!), and traveling! (I know you miss doing that, so we should definitely do it.) I have so many other things to talk to you about in this list of mine, so let’s chat once we’re outta here, okay love? - Woo-Jin

To Y/N, 5/10/2022

I have something to tell you.

I couldn’t sleep last night. I was up all night thinking about this.

I’m scared this’ll ruin

I’ll talk to you next time. I hope you’re well :)

-Woo-Jin

Dearest Y/N, 10/10/2022

Meet me at the back of the camp. I need to talk to you about something. -Woo-Jin

Y/N felt her cheeks warm as she put the last letter aside, staring off at the wall, giddy and anxious to see what he needed to tell her so badly.

It should’ve been obvious. It was, of course, but Y/N kept pushing it to the back of her mind as the last possible thing he would want to talk to her about. Come on, Woo-Jin, her best friend, liking her?

She’d been the one to like him when they met. He was just a super great guy who just happened to be great friends with her; she could never hope for more than that. Yet, the letters she had read from him to her told her all she needed to know of his raw feelings for her.

“What game are you playing at, Jang Woo-Jin?”

Y/N muttered, looking to her door. She couldn’t just stand him up, she had wronged him way too many times for that.

“Relax.”

With a bit of reassurance, she headed off to the back of the camp, making sure her hair was nice, and dusting off her coat as she did so.

The back of the camp was quite nicely lit up this time of day, quite unkempt, and certainly not the most romantic, but was certainly private enough for their conversation. Y/N felt butterflies flutter around her stomach as she spotted Woo-Jin, whose back was to her. Somehow, seeing him in person made her all the more nervous, but there was no going back now. She’d just have to brave herself for the next few moments. Mustering up the courage, she called for him.

“Woo-Jin?”

He turned at the call of his name, hands in his coats pockets as he smiled at Y/N. God, that jaw dropping smile of his. She smiled back, walking up to him.

It was quiet as they stared into each others eyes for a moment, the sounds of nature and the chirping of birds the only sound to be heard, until he spoke.

“Y/N, did you read my letters?”

“Yes, and I also noticed how you folded them into paper cranes, my favourites. How’d you remember?”

“I’m just amazing like that.”

They giggled for a second, before the moment turned serious, their eyes locked on to the others.

“Y/N, I have a confession to make.

You know
ever since that day I met you at the playground, some feeling kept nagging at mr whenever we saw each other. I didn’t know what it was at first
but a year or so of that same feeling I finally realised what it was.”

Y/N’s breath hitched as he stepped closer, closing the gap between them, as he placed his hands around her waist.

“Y/N L/N, I love you. So so much, it pains me. I love you, so so so much, you make me forget whatever the hell is happening, because you always take up my thoughts. You’re the light of my world; you helped me when no one else did. I love you, you are my everything.”

Y/N looked back at Woo-Jin, eyes glassy, unable to find the words to answer back at his confession.

“Please, Y/N, let me love you. Let me be yours. I’ll love and protect you, until my last breath.”

He took her hand in his, bringing it up to his lips to place a chaste kiss atop her knuckles, before bringing his hands back down to her waist.

“I love you, Woo-Jin. I love you, of course I’ll be yours.”

Woo-Jin let out a relieved laugh, giving her a big grin as he enveloped her in a bone-crushing hug. The world stopped spinning in that moment, as the two best friends, now turned lovers held on to each other. Stars paused their twinkling to watch, planets stopped spinning to admire.

Pulling away suddenly, Woo-Jin cupped her cheeks, looking into her eyes for permission, which Y/N graciously gave with the nod of her head. And he pressed his lips to hers, the both of them smiling through the kiss. Y/N held on tighter to Woo-Jin, pulling him closer to her as the kiss closed in on its end. Pulling away, the pair gasped for breath, resting their forehead on the other, giggling as they held on to each other.

“I love you.” Y/N whispered.

“I love you too.” Woo-Jin whispered back.

The universe seemed to applaud their union, as the two of them embraced each other, their connection as strong as the earth’s will to revolve around the sun.

Now it really felt like it was just the two of them, against the world. And against the world they’d go, and love each other, as they did so.

Hey! Was Just Wondering (if Your Requests Are Open) If You Could Write Something About Chad Meeks (from

living next to your best friend had many advantages. at least for chad, who would knock on your door every day at lunch and dinner time, a grin plastered on his face while he begged for you to cook him something. you were sure that he had never used his kitchen in the three months he'd been living in his apartment.

an advantage for you, though, was chad's dvd collection of your favorites movies. the ones you'd bought him for his fifteen birthday and that he still kept next to his tv, just in case a movie night was due for. his dvd collection was like a treasure trove of nostalgia, containing all the films that had shaped your friendship over the years. some were gifts from you, carefully chosen to match his taste, while others were movies he had discovered and introduced to you. each movie holding a special memory or inside joke between the two of you.

you cherished those dvd's, not only because of the moments with chad, but also because it was the only time where you would allow yourself to be so close to him. chad was a cuddler, if he wasn't holding onto a pillow, he would hold your hand, your thigh, anything. and you'd have to hide your face so he wouldn't see just how much you enjoyed being so close to him.

sometimes, while engrossed in one of the movies, chad's hand would find its way to yours. his touch always ignited a spark within you, an electric connection that you couldn't ignore. you would steal glances at him, trying to gauge if he felt the same way. but as quickly as the touch came, it would retreat, leaving you longing for more.

it was bittersweet, these stolen moments of intimacy. you cherished them, treasured them, but at the same time, you feared what might happen if you let your true feelings show. the risk of losing chad's friendship seemed too big, and so you buried your emotions deep within, hiding them behind laughter and playful teasing. as time went on, you wondered if there would ever come a day when you could gather the courage to reveal your true feelings to chad.

when you were ten, chad gifted you a journal for your birthday so you could write down your own recipes, knowing just how much you loved baking with your grandmother. and the year later, he bought a signed cd of your favorite singer, which you were sure was now scratched and worn out from how many times you'd played it.

as you grew older, your feelings for chad evolved beyond friendship. you began to see him in a different light, noticing the small details that made him himself and realizing the depth of your affection for him. however, the fear of ruining what you had held you back from expressing those feelings. what if he didn't feel the same way? what if it changed everything between you?

so, you continued to live in the shadow of the friend zone, relishing the stolen moments of closeness during movie nights while suppressing the longing in your heart. each time chad's hand brushed against yours, you wondered if it was a sign, a subtle indication that he might share your hidden desires. but doubt and uncertainty clouded your thoughts, and you convinced yourself it was merely wishful thinking on your part.

-

chad's job took time away from your usual meals together, his shifts were long and tiring, so when he got back to his home he went straight to bed, leaving you to cook alone. the absence of chad's cheerful presence during mealtimes made you realize just how much you relied on those shared moments. cooking for one felt empty, and you found yourself longing for the sound of his laughter and the taste of his genuine appreciation for your company.

as the days turned into weeks, you couldn't help but miss the movie nights as well. the dvds sat untouched, collecting dust on his shelf, and you yearned for the familiar comfort of sitting side by side with chad, engrossed in a captivating story while stealing glances at each other in the dimly lit room. the movies had always been an excuse to be close, and now that excuse was absent.

you couldn't deny that something had shifted within you. the longing in your heart grew stronger, and you missed him terribly. but still, the fear of rejection held you back, and you couldn't bear the thought of jeopardizing the bond you shared.

one evening, unable to distract yourself, you found yourself flipping through the pages of the journal chad had given you all those years ago. memories flooded back as you read the entries about your baking recipes and the messy handwriting of your younger self, and a surge of nostalgia washed over you. you stood, not bothering to change out of your pajamas as you rushed to your front door, ready to go visit him and swinging it open.

outside stood chad, his hand up as if he was about to knock, and a grin on his face, one you had missed more than anything. "i know it's late, but... dinner?" you couldn't help but smile, feeling a wave of relief rush though you. "i've missed your cooking too much," he admitted sheepishly, stepping inside your apartment. "i've been eating takeout for weeks, and it's just not the same."

you chuckled and closed the door behind him. "someone's hungry." chad's eyes sparkled with anticipation. "always hungry when it comes to your cooking. i know it's late, do you have any leftovers for me?" he mimicked the puppy eyes that used to work so well on his own mother when he was a kid.

you rolled your eyes playfully. "you never change, do you? always trying to get a free meal out of me." he shrugged, still wearing that mischievous grin. "it's not my fault you're an amazing cook. i can't resist your food." his arms circled your waist while you looked inside the fridge, your cheeks heating up like they usually did around chad.

you pretended to be unfazed by his proximity, even though his touch sent shivers down your spine. "well, lucky for you, i made a double portion of my famous lasagna yesterday. i knew you'd show up eventually," you teased, trying to mask the butterflies in your stomach.

chad leaned in closer, his warm breath tickling your ear. "you always know how to take care of me," he whispered, his voice filled with sincerity. the closeness between you felt both thrilling and nerve-wracking, a delicate balance that you had become accustomed to over the years. he blinked, smirking. "you're letting the cold out of the fridge, y/n"

you snapped back to reality, realizing you were still standing with the fridge door open. blushing, you quickly grabbed the container of lasagna and closed the fridge. "right, sorry about that," you mumbled, feeling a mix of embarrassment and excitement.

chad chuckled, his eyes crinkling with amusement. "no worries, i'm used to you getting lost in your own world. now, let's dig into that lasagna before it gets cold!"

as you served the steaming slices onto plates, chad couldn't contain his anticipation. "mmm, it smells amazing," he praised, eagerly taking his seat.

you couldn't help but feel a sense of contentment as you watched him, his enthusiasm bringing warmth to your heart. with each bite, he savored the flavors and occasionally let out sounds of delight. it was a familiar sight, one that brought back memories of countless meals you had shared together.

between mouthfuls, chad paused and looked up at you. "you know, i've really missed this. eating together, talking, just being here with you." before you could answer, he spoke again. "you know what i miss?"

"what?" you smiled, and he reached for another fork-full of his dish, "your nana's cookies." he closed his eyes, humming as he pretended to imagine having one of his childhood snacks. you laughed softly at his comment, "ah, those cookies were legendary, weren't they? i still remember the first time you tried them. you practically begged my nana to share the recipe with you."

chad grinned, a mischievous twinkle in his eyes. "can you blame me? they were like bites of heaven! remember when i tried to replicate them? i'm not allowed near an oven back at home anymore."

you laughed, remembering the disastrous baking attempts chad had made in the past. "oh, god. i remember that. you made mindy try the burnt cookies." chad shook his head, feigning disappointment.

"i had such high hopes, you know. but i guess baking just isn't my forte. that's why i rely on your amazing cooking skills." you raised an eyebrow playfully, before he shushed you and stood to clean off both of your plates. "you know," you started, "i'm pretty sure she gave me the recipe, it must be on the journal you got me."

chad's eyes widened with excitement. "really? you have your nana's cookie recipe in there?" he asked eagerly, his voice filled with anticipation.

you nodded, a smile playing on your lips. "yeah, i'm pretty sure it's in here somewhere." you motioned for chad to join you at the kitchen counter, where the journal sat and you flicked through the pages before setting it open to a page filled with your grandmother's neat handwriting.

chad leaned in, his eyes scanning the page. "oh, look at this! 'nana's secret chocolate chip cookies,'" he read aloud, his voice filled with delight. "this is the one!"

you both huddled closer, shoulder to shoulder, as you read through the cherished recipe together. chad's excitement was contagious, and you couldn't help but smile at his enthusiasm. "well? let's bake them." he offered, taking the book from your hands and listing the ingredients, once he was done, he looked up, waiting. "hurry!"

you grinned, captivated by chad's eagerness. "alright, let's do it. but i have one condition," you teased, raising an eyebrow. chad tilted his head, a playful smirk forming on his lips. "oh, really? what's the condition?"

you leaned in closer, your voice dropping to a conspiratorial whisper. "you have to promise not to burn down the kitchen this time." he reached for your hand, mimicking a handshake, "i do the mixing and you do the baking?"

"deal. just make sure to follow the recipe carefully this time, mr. kitchen disaster." chad feigned offense, placing a hand over his heart. "hey now, i've improved! i'll have you know that my cooking skills have gone up a whole half-notch since the last time."

you rolled your eyes playfully. "half a notch, huh? well, i'll be sure to keep the fire extinguisher nearby, just in case."

as you gathered the ingredients and started preheating the oven, chad stood by your side, eagerly watching your every move. it felt natural to be in the kitchen together, sharing this moment, and you couldn't help but savor it. and every time you moved around the kitchen to grab the ingredients that chad had listed before, you could feel him near, his chest against your shoulder, or simply his presence was driving you insane.

"so, what's the first step, chef?" chad asked, a spark of mischief in his eyes. you handed him a mixing bowl and a whisk. "first, we'll need to cream together the butter and sugars. and by 'we,' i mean you. i'll supervise to make sure you don't cause any culinary disasters."

chad grinned, accepting the challenge. "alright, chef supervisor, prepare to be amazed by my whisking skills!" he started vigorously whisking the butter and sugars together, his enthusiasm infectious.

you watched him with a mixture of amusement and fondness. "steady there, whisking champion. remember, we want a creamy consistency, not an arm workout."

chad chuckled, his focus shifting to maintaining a steady pace. "got it. creamy consistency." as he continued whisking, you took a moment to appreciate the scene unfolding before you. the familiar rhythm of your friendship mixed with the anticipation of what could be.

after the butter and sugars were perfectly combined, you handed chad the next set of ingredients. "now, add the eggs and vanilla. slow and steady wins the race."

chad nodded, cracking the eggs carefully and adding them to the mixture. he poured in the vanilla extract you'd handed to him and whisked again, his determination evident. "slow and steady." you thought it was cute, the way he kept repeating your instructions and how he bit his bottom lips as he focused on the task at hand.

the thought crossed your mind once again, what if this was the perfect moment to reveal your true feelings?

you pushed the thought aside, reminding yourself of the risks involved. you didn't want to lose the friendship you cherished so much. but as the minutes ticked by, and chad's whisking turned into a rhythm, you found it harder to resist the pull of your emotions.

"alright, chad, you're doing great," you encouraged, your voice betraying a hint of nervousness. "now, let's add the dry ingredients gradually and mix."

chad followed your instructions, adding the flour mixture little by little while you gently folded it into the batter. the kitchen was filled with a comfortable silence, broken only by the sound of your hands working together. once you informed him the mix was done, he went to dip a finger in it, just for a taste but you smacked his hand away.

he watched you intently as you poured a few chocolate chips into the mix, but they didn't seem to be enough for chad. "some more? pleaseee" when you looked back at him with a mocking look, he took the matter into his own hands and titled your hands towards the bowl, dipping the whole handful of chips into the bowl. he grinned at his own actions. "don't look at me like that, you know chocolate makes everything better."

chad followed you to the heated oven, opening it for you so you could slide the tray inside easily. as you waited, chad leaned against the counter and you sat next to him, your thighs and his hips almost touching. a hush fell over the kitchen, the only sound being the gentle hum of the oven.

chad's gaze held yours, and you could see a whirlwind of emotions playing out on his face. silence stretched between you, and doubt began to creep in, threatening to shatter the fragile moment.

but then, with a mix of determination and tenderness, chad leaned in, closing the distance between you. his lips brushed against yours, not fully sealing in a kiss. his breath ghosted over your lips, the smell of chocolate evident due to the few chips he'd secretly sneaked into his mouth while you finished off with the mixture.

"chad" you whispered, not really sure of what you were going to say. just testing to see if you were still able to speak because of the proximity. his eyes didn't move away from yours as he moved his hand from the countertop to your waist, then your neck. your heart raced, and you found yourself leaning into his touch, craving more.

"chad
" you repeated and your voice wavered, overwhelmed by a wave of emotions that threatened to consume you.

you tilted your head slightly, inviting him in, and he obliged, closing the distance between your lips. the first touch was electric, a soft brush that left you craving more. his lips were warm and velvety, molding against yours with a gentle urgency, as if he had dreamed of this as much as you had.

chad's hands traveled down your back, pulling you closer, deepening the kiss. lost in the moment, you could feel his breath against your skin, mingling with your own. soft breaths escaped both of you, blending with the sounds of your lips exploring each other. the taste of him, sweet, filled your senses, intoxicating you further.

with each kiss, the intensity grew, and you craved more. his tongue sought entrance, a silent plea for deeper connection, and you willingly granted it.

your bodies pressed against the counter, the heat between you intensified. you could feel the tension building, the desire burning within you both. the intimate dialogue that ensued was whispered, breathless, and filled with a shared longing.

his hands roamed your body, tracing the curves, igniting every nerve. the kisses became deeper, more urgent. time seemed to stand still as you surrendered to the passion that consumed you, the world beyond the kitchen counter fading away. you felt like if chad moved away from you, you'd melt away. urging for the smallest touches, like you'd always done.

the beeping of the oven made you pull back slightly, only for chad to dive back in for another kiss, his hands cradling your face as he slowed his forceful kiss into small pecks. not pulling away, you slid down the counter, your hips meeting his as he kept his hands on your waist, holding you close to him.

"they're gonna get burnt." you mumbled, your voice almost being stolen away by his mouth. he hummed, finally pulling away to let you turn off the oven and take out the tray, carefully placing it on the stovetop.

you turned to face chad, a shy smile tugging at the corners of your mouth. "they turned out perfect," you said, your voice laced with satisfaction.

chad grinned, "well, you're the master-chef here. i'm just the lucky taste tester," he replied, playfully bumping his shoulder against yours.

you laughed, the sound bubbling up from deep within. "oh, so now you're admitting that you sneak cookies before they're fully baked?"

chad shrugged, a mischievous glint in his eyes. "what can i say? it's my job to ensure the quality control, you know."

rolling your eyes, you reached for a freshly baked cookie from the tray, blowing on it to cool it down before taking a bite. chad's grin widened, and he reached for a cookie himself. taking a bite, he closed his eyes, relishing the taste. when he opened them again, his gaze locked with yours, a spark of desire evident.

he moved closer, and just when you thought he was going to kiss you again, he reached for your head and ruffled your hair before smirking. "how about i go get my dvds? i don't have work tomorrow."

PLEASE HEAR ME OUT

so in the newest video (solitary confinement) sharky REALLY wanted a friend. But since Aj was being a bitch to him (typical Aj I love him sooo much) he decided to bite the bait and sends y/n to his room. Y/n and sharky are the bestest of friends.

So when sharks falls asleep, aj sends y/n to his room and she's just playing with his hair and softly patting his face until he wakes up. When his eyes open, he is over the moon and takes her in a home crushing hug.

This ends up in a very flirty, sappy video where sharky and y/n are basically acting like a cute married couple.

You can also add the fans and boys reaction to the video hehe.

Love ur stuff sm ❀❀❀❀

A Friend in Solitude - Sharky

Summary: Sharky finds comfort in a quiet moment with you during a video challenge

Pairing: Sharky x Reader

Genre: Fluff Masterlist

PLEASE HEAR ME OUT

The room was quiet.

Too quiet.

Sharky had tried to fight it, he really did. He talked to the camera about how he should win the video, slept, and even did a few laps around the room. But boredom turned to restlessness, and restlessness turned to end up where his body curled up in the corner where the bed is and the blanket wrapped around him, breath steady as he finally gave in to the silence and drifted off.

He looked small like that. Still. Tired in a way he rarely ever let show.

Aj watched the screen from the other room, arms crossed, lips twitching between annoyance and affection.

“He actually knocked out” Aj mumbled as he suppressed a laugh pointing at the monitor.

You stood behind him, your eyes soft.

“He hates being alone” You said quietly, watching a hopeless Sharky slowly fall asleep.

“You know that” You added.

Aj sighed like he was pretending not to care but his hand was already reaching for the button.

“Go on then” Aj muttered.

"Before he wakes up and thinks he’s been abandoned” Aj added with a small grin.

You didn’t wait. You slipped through the door, soft steps echoing faintly as you entered the room.

Sharky didn’t stir. His breathing was even. His face relaxed. He looked so at peace, and yet so vulnerable it tugged at your chest.

You knelt beside him gently and reached out, brushing a few curls off his forehead. Your fingers lingered, threading lightly through his hair.

Then, without thinking, you started softly patting his cheek. Not to wake him up fully but just enough to let him know he wasn’t alone anymore.

“Sharky” You whispered.

He blinked awake slowly, confusion written all over his face at first. Then, as his eyes found yours, everything in him softened. The tiredness, the quiet, the dullness in his chest was gone in an instant.

“You’re here” Sharky said as he stared at you like he couldn’t believe it.

“Of course I’m here” You said as you nodded, smiling gently.

Without another word, he wrapped his arms around you and pulled you into a hug so tight it nearly knocked you off balance. His face is tucked into your neck. His fingers gripped the back of your hoodie like he was scared you’d disappear again.

“I missed you” Sharky murmured with a tired smile.

“I missed you too” You said.

The hug lingered, warm and quiet. You didn’t speak much after that. You didn’t need to.

Eventually, you ended up side by side on the beanbags, his head in your lap again, your fingers still in his hair. He kept glancing up at you like he couldn’t stop smiling.

And you kept brushing his curls back, over and over, like it was the most natural thing in the world.

“You okay now?” You asked softly.

“Yeah” Sharky whispered, eyes fluttering shut again.

“Now that you’re here” Sharky added.

And just like that, the confinement didn’t feel so lonely anymore.

Meanwhile, in the control room, Aj had been watching the entire thing unfold on the monitor. His eyes flickered between the two of you, watching the way Sharky melted into the quiet, the way you cared for him so effortlessly. He shook his head, half-amused, half-annoyed.

“You two are insufferable” Aj muttered under his breath, leaning back in his chair.

But the way he glanced at the screen one last time, he couldn't help the small, knowing smile that tugged at his lips.

“Yeah, well, if it works for them
” Aj said as he shrugged.

And for the first time that night, he left the screen on, letting you and Sharky stay exactly where you were. No interruptions. Just the two of you, together.

FINNICK FLUFF FINNICK FLUFF FINNICK FLUFF

Nah but same my passion for this fandom reignited after watching tbosas, and I forgot how much I loved Finnick. Peeta and everyone else is absolutely great but Finnick's story just... My heart :( So any fluff resulting in Finnick getting a big old cuddle and being allowed to ask for things he wants and needs instead of doing anything he's asked out of instinct would be right up my alley, if that's amenable to you!

here it is i kind of combined it with another request but i hope you like it đŸ€ TYSMMM FOR THE REQUEST

You grew up next door in Singil-dong, and were practically raised in each other's homes, always being each other's playdate. Ever since the two of you decided to become "married" in the playground, you've always been together.

═══════════════════════════════════════════

Go hyuntak and his friends planned to hang out after school at Baku's dad's chicken resto. Him and his friends are already fighting over who get's the first drumstick, his phone pressed to his ear, talking to you, his girlfriend.

"You out of school yet?" He asked, smiling faintly. Talking to you always made his day. Then your voice—quiet, strained. "Didn't go." Gotak blinked, his smile faltered. "What, why?" His words came out slow. The group had gotten quiet as they listened in, Baku leaned against the table, one arm propped casually as he watched Gotak, Jun-tae pausing mid-bite out of his chicken, and Sieun now leaned back in the booth seat, eyes flicking between the group.

"Jus' didn't feel like it," you say, a faint rasp in your voice. Then came the cough. Raspy. Rough. Gotak straightened up, his face frowning. "You're sick."

"I'm not—"

"You are."

"No, i'm—"

"I'm on my way." He cuts in again, standing up. And he'd already hung up before you could protest. Baku furrowed his brows, his arm still leaning lazily on the table. "Yo, what do you mean? You're leaving?" Gotak glances at Baku with a half-apologetic smile. "It's Y/N, she's sick." Baku only went 'ahh' then nodded. "Who?" Sieun asked, glancing between them, confused. Baku grins, patting Sieun's back. "His girlfriend, bro." He says, 'bro' in english. "Enjoy without me." Gotak muttered, grabbing his bag.

Before Gotak could leave, Baku called out, "Stay safe!" Gotak just lifted a hand in response, already halfway out. Jun tae blinked after him, then turned to Baku. "Wait—he has a girlfriend?" Baku let's out a short laugh and shook his head. "Man's whipped."

You often found yourself alone, thanks to your parents' demanding jobs. Your bedroom is a mess—trash tossed everywhere, books you were supposed to study—left open and forgetten and discarded tissues from your constant sneezing. You could barely move without wincing as your joints would pop painfully.

You try to ignore the sharp pain in your throat, but it made even breathing a struggle. Lying down could only offer little relief. Your phone then buzzed beside you, and you could barely lift it. Eyes heavy, you blinked a few times and squinted at the screen.

귀엌둄읎 (cutie)

(Gotak): Baby, open the door. I'm outside.

Then a second message followed,

(Gotak): [kiss emoji]

With a groan, you pushed yourself off the bed, limbs trembling. You then wrapped your arms around yourself as you make your way to the front door. "Babe, baby, babe." He calls out, knocking lightly. "Wait up, Gogo." You croaked, his nickname falling past your lips. "I swear, if you don't open the door in five seconds—" the door creaks open, and Gotak's eyes land on you. "Just kidding." He continued.

.

..

"Holy shit, Y/N."

Your face looked drained of color, clammy and pale—your eyes puffy and tinged red. Dark circles had bloomed under your eyes, and your knees looked ready to buckle.

You leaned against the doorframe, your whole body drooped like it wanted to fold into the floor. "You look like you haven't slept in days." Before you could respond, his hand found your waist as he nudged you aside to step in. "Still pretty though," he muttered, almost to himself. "It's kind of unfair." Holding you for a lil while, he quickly took the stuff he bought for you in, kicking the door shut behind him.

His arm stayed around you, eyes scanning your face again. "Okay, okay—Couch. Now." His hand shifted to your back, firm and warm as he guides you towards the couch. You leaned into him instinctively, your steps dragging. He eased you down onto the couch gently, crouching in front of you. "So, i got you noodles," he said, trying to sound casual. "And. . . Medicine. Sooo stay there, and don't move much. Doctor Gotak's got you."

Go hyuntak made sure that you were cozy on the couch before heading to the kitchen, placing the plastic bags on the counter with a sigh. He rubbed the back of his neck, glancing around the place. He figured he'd check on your room, just a peek. He then walked over and nudged your bedroom door open, "Woah," he clutched his chest dramatically. "This looks like biohazard-level, babe."

He lingered on the doorway, one hand gripping the frame, the other resting on his hip.

"This is tragic."

With a sigh, he crouched to pick up your trash, the scattered tissues, half-finished notes, and books. "You really tried to study through this, huh." He whispered. "This is so unsanitary—" he paused as he picked up a framed photo on your desk—one of the two of you at some arcade. Gotak jerked his head with a quiet snort. "Stubborn girl," he says softly, almost fondly. "You should've told me."

.

..

The scent of boiling noodles filled the air, steam curling lazily from the pot. Gotak, his hoodie's sleeve rolled up, stood at the stove, stirring the noodles with a concentration that seemed ridiculous for something so little. It must be perfect. He thinks to himself.

He kept glancing back at the couch where you lay bundled up in your blanket like a sad little burrito, the damp towel he'd placed earlier having slipped slightly off your forehead. "Aishh." He left the ladle propped on the side and padded over, sitting beside you with a soft sigh. Gently, he brushed the towel back into place and adjusted your blanket higher like you were some fragile thing.

"You feeling any better?" He asked, his finger brushing your cheek. "i can barely breath," you joked, the corners of your lips twitching upward. "Not funny."

.

..

Gotak returned to you, balancing a steaming bowl of noodles in one hand and a lukewarm glass of water in the other. You slowly pushed yourself up, one shaky hand gripping the cushion. He immediately sets the bowl on the coffee table and helped you sit properly, settling in beside you. "Slow, baby. Sit slow," he muttered.

Then, he gently nudged your head with his knuckle. "You're such a pain," his tone dropped a bit. "I'm seriously pissed, you know," he says, voice low and annoyed. "Mm—ow," you winced, softly, the sound barely leaving your lips.

He immediately froze. "Shit. Baby. I'm sorry—i'm sorry, i didn't mean to. Fuck. Sorry, babe. Sorry, sorry." His voice cracked with guilt, his hands hovering near your face, unsure if he should hold you or not. You gave a weak laugh. "Eat first, okay? Drink your meds after, then you can go to sleep. I'll stay." You nodded faintly, then smiled.

"Thank you....i love you."

"I love you too," he whispered, leaning in to press a kiss against the side of your head. "Don't scare me like this again."

Horrified was an understatement. “What the fuck
did you do?” Disturbed by the sight in front of you; Your best friend, half-dead in a sterilized room, you couldn’t believe your eyes.

Immediately, the man at the patient's side got to his feet, spinning around to face you in the doorway. He had a sickly look, worse than one from just a stomach ache. His mouth opened and closed, clearly not sure what to say—what would be right to say. His eyes were teary, obviously distraught. But you couldn’t see past the blue-hot rage rushing through you. There was a knife in your hand, and you didn’t care who it was pointed at.

Just that it hit someone.

That it made them feel pain like you did—like you couldn’t stand. Call it selfish, but if you were going to feel destroyed, then you’d do the same to everyone else.

“It’s not fair!” Your voice raised, and so did some walls; ones you thought were lowered enough for the man in front of you to create an understanding strong enough to outweigh the tragedy. To trauma-bond. But, nothing compared to the feeling of losing someone you never thought you would, “I can’t pretend anymore. I can’t see you sit here everyday. I hate this—them. You. I can’t stand to see you, Si-eun, get out of my face!”

But it was the guilt. The agony. Maybe you should’ve been the one in the hospital bed, you bargained, you should be the one who dies, not him.

It wasn’t always like that though.

You used to be a normal friend group. You used to laugh. You used to joke. You used to hang out at random snack stands. You used to deny your feelings for Si-eun, back when Suho was the only one who knew (you barely even knew). Feel comfortable. You used to call Beom-Seok someone you trusted, someone you liked. You used to be able to look in the mirror and not hate who was staring back at you. You used to be dedicated to studying, focused on the future. But now all you felt was comatose, regretful of a past you felt you hadn’t appreciated enough. A closeness between people you held and let vanish. A gaping hole that you now only had a shovel in.

“Yeon Si-eun,” Your friend motioned to the shorter boy next to him who was clutching the straps of his backpack, “I saved him, I’m sure you heard.”

“Actually, I heard you stopped him.” You contradicted, eyeing over the man who was expressionless, even after you imposed his violence, “I heard he would’ve killed those boys.”

Ice-cold. That’s what Suho described Si-eun as a day ago when he was sitting on your bed, and you could see it. But it seemed like he only disguised himself with that to survive, to not draw attention, to mask a pain that was deep-rooted.

Or maybe it just took one to know one.

“It’s nice to meet you
Yeon Si-eun.” You held out your hand to him, “Yn, Suho’s best friend—not girlfriend, he’s definitely not my type.”

Suho threw his head back, rolling his eyes, “Yeah, whatever, fuck you. I’m everyone’s type, right Si-eun?”

The familiar beat of a popular song started playing, and you immediately stood up. You grabbed a spoon and an empty Soju bottle from off the table, putting them together as a makeshift microphone for the time being.

Suho’s eyebrows rose as you joined Beom-Seok in the middle of the small room, iconically singing Mingyu’s opening to HOT by SEVENTEEN.

Then, he burst out laughing, dragging Si-eun’s body back and forth as he practically spasmed in his seat. But Si-eun had a smile on his face too, arms crossed over his chest—though, not because he was uncomfortable, it was natural looking. Something you could get used to seeing more often.

He didn’t want to, but he was opening up to your friend, in turn, you and Beom-Seok as well.

“Here,” You glanced up from the mock exam you were bent over at a familiar voice, sights meeting a very calm Si-eun. He had a bruise on his cheekbone that he tried to hide by turning his head, but you saw it. You knew he knew you did too. “Suho got you a snack.”

“And he didn’t give it to me?” You quizzed, going back to the paper, although setting the pen down, “I thought he was a delivery boy.”

Si-eun let out a huffed-laugh, and your eyes widened in surprise, hidden by your downturned gaze. He knew how to do that when Suho wasn’t around?

“Are you two dating?” Suho laughed out, resting further back into the couch cushion behind him, “Because you look good together.”

“You know he doesn’t have eyes for anyone but you,”

Suho scoffed, your eyes rolling in return. But you could tell your best friend caught the way you glanced in Si-eun’s direction after, “Besides, I’m too busy to date anyone—especially, one of you guys who keep fighting like a bunch of
well, men. I have standards, you know. And, I’m so close to leaving the country to study abroad. I hate long distance, I don’t think I could do it.”

Si-eun remained silent, looking curiously between you two. He was a man of few words, however, you often could tell his emotion now; through body language, through slight variations in his expressions. Call it intuition.

Perhaps the opposite reigned true as well though.

Definitely not a crush.

“Did you seriously fail again?” You gawked in Suho’s direction, “I gave you the answers this time!”

Then your hand was flying out to lightly smack the man next to you on the arm. He flinched, grabbing at where you made contact—though you know he’s been hit harder. You’ve even seen it. And, as much as it was terrifying, you had to hand it to him, he had determination.

“Si-eun! What happened to getting him to pass?”

His eyes were wide, innocently so, “We were working all night.”

Beom-Seok, who was next to Suho in the restaurant booth, let out a chuckle, just listening. He knew you’d spare no offense in mocking your friend's lack of educational-dedication. But, you knew Suho had other priorities, you just wished he’d listen to your pleas a little more than he actually did.

Though, it didn’t stop you from joking, knowing you’d stay up ‘till dawn to help him memorize the periodic table, and algebraic formulas again and again if you had to. “Working
 hardly at all, I see.”

“That’s not funny, yn, I tried my best!”

“You fell asleep halfway through, the only circles you were drawing was from the drool coming out of your mouth!”

Laughter sounded in the small space, and you realized that maybe a simple life was better than all the exotic future plans; the adventures you wanted to go on with Suho, the better life you thought you could give Si-eun, the childlike love you had for the three of them.

Maybe you didn’t want to leave after highschool. Maybe you wanted to stay and grow with them instead—there were plenty of good schools here that could offer you piloting classes.

“Can I ask you something, Si-eun?” You stumbled into him, grabbing at his arm to steady yourself. You could feel his body tense, but then relax. “Did Suho actually get me that during exam season?”

Eventually, you came to a stop outside a snack shop, one that sold Tteokbokki and fish cakes, and you squealed—shifting through your purse for some loose cash. In your intoxicated state, you thought that sounded like the most delicious thing you could eat.

As you were shifting through your bag clumsily, Si-eun had already bought you a platter by the time you looked up with a bill clutched between your fingers.

He wordlessly handed you a toothpick to stab the rice cakes with, while he held a cup with skewed fish cakes and broth for you later.

You didn’t know why he offered to walk you home, you lived in the opposite direction of him, but you were glad it was him by your side. You were glad he caught you when you stumbled. You were just glad it was Yeon Si-eun: someone you thought you’d only see from a far.

Your lip jutted out at the gesture, “Really?”

He slightly shrugged, “You looked excited.”

You took a bite, the spiciness hitting the spot. You loved it, it was one of your favorite ways to eat food.

“I, uh—like you.” You slurred through a mouthful, giggling and then slapping your lips with a gasp, “Wait! Did I just say that? I’m sorry. It’s true but, I mean I didn’t—wasn’t going to say anything—”

“Yn... I like you too.”

But then everything came crashing down. Every plan you had crumbled. Every scooter ride with Suho where you would scold him for going too fast or taking a turn too sharp suddenly seemed like a luxury you’d never get back. Every stolen glance between you and Si-eun, every light brush of the hand, every word that went unsaid seemed like it would now remain as a stain on your heart. Every rainbow was monotone, void of color in a world that used to be so vibrant. Every smile and joke, and I trust you and I love you’s were in the past, long-lost to a violent and pain-filled future.

One you never in a million years would have planned for.

𝐃𝐎N'T N𝗘𝗘D TO 𝙎AY IT ───── Weak Hero Class ꒰ Y. Sieun Xreader # ). Was I Just

“Don’t look at me like that,” Si-eun never said much, and when he did it was blunt and to the point. Some might say he was rude, cold, but truthfully, you think he just felt like nobody ever listened if it wasn’t short-winded and sharp enough to cut. “I don’t need your pity.”

He’d gotten into another fight, God knows when, and somehow ended up at your doorstep. A cold night, maybe reflective of the sorrow in the air. The weight on his shoulders. The crushing guilt.

He swore he’d stop.

But It was always a fight. It was always punches and kicks that ruined everything. And eventually, it hit hard enough to break your heart in a million pieces.

You weren’t exactly close anymore, after what happened to your best friend Ahn Suho last year, but you couldn’t resist opening the door wide enough for the man to make his way in.

Afterall, you used to be friends, and something in between. You used to know him.

And there was something alluring about Si-eun. He’s always had it—the way his eyes portray every emotion on his otherwise monotone face. The way he walks around like an aimless vessel. You hadn’t seen him in a while, but it seemed like something had broken inside him since that time, something darker by nature. But something sadder, too, lived simultaneously.

You reached to the side, grabbing a tube branded by some antibacterial ointment off of the sinks porcelain.

“I don’t pity you, Si-eun.” You replied, squeezing a glob onto the end of a cotton swab, “Not after what happened.”

He slumped over a little more at your words, avoiding your gaze by looking at the ground instead, where you stood in front of him. He was sitting on the toilet, after you’d caught a glimpse of the bruises and cuts his skin had, ushering him into the bathroom to play doctor.

Truthfully, you don’t know why you did it—why you opened the door. Maybe it was the moonlight that glistened over his features, the ones you used to admire all those months back. Maybe it was the clear sense of longing that overtook your body when you’d finally heard a word from him—a broken plea, your name, from his cut up lips. Maybe it was the familiarity of a past life you missed.

Maybe it was because he was the only thing you had left of Suho
The only memory you could stand to remember.

Si-eun sighed, hands coming together in his lap. He shifted, almost like he was uncomfortable—but, you can’t remember the last time you’d actually seen him be comfortable; Maybe it was before your shared friend went into a coma, or maybe he never has been.

However, somewhere deep down you could see the smile on his face that used to brighten up any room. One that would only come out when Suho, Beom-Seok, you and him would hang out. Back before everything ripe turned rotten. Back when it was the four of you against the world. Before the bloodied knuckles and bruised eye sockets.

Before you told Si-eun you couldn’t stand to see him anymore, that one stupidly contrasting day; sunny and boiling hot, to your harsh and cold tongue.

You couldn’t will yourself to remember, but you’d never actually forget what everyone at your school seemingly has; the boy in the back of the class who slept so soundly despite the noise, the straight A student who broke and moved schools, and the man who suddenly went missing before the dew on the spring leaves even began to dry.

“I’m sorry,” He whispered out under a breath, “I’m really sorry, yn.”

And suddenly all you could see behind your eyes was the disheartened look of a man who sat outside your shared lifelines hospital room. Shoulders hunched as he typed messages he feared would never be read. As he held back tears and swallowed down the crushing guilt.

He’d seen you once, but there was a lifeless look behind his eyes. One that you couldn’t recognize, like he didn’t recognize. A vague sense of displacement, hopelessly devoted, like he couldn’t stand to see himself reflected off of you.

And that’s when you realized, he never stopped blaming himself. He bent only so far before he broke. You heard about it; Smashing widows and cracking bones. You heard the desperation in his cries. Your heart shattered with him and for him: Everything Si-eun used to be. Everything Si-eun could’ve been. It all came crashing down, and he was still trying to climb out of the rubble.

And that’s why you distanced yourself from his name. Because it hurt too much to see the what-if’s that never happened
But could’ve. Everything Si-eun should’ve been to you. It hurt too much when people would ask you how Suho was doing (for the first couple of weeks), if he’s progressed or had taken a turn for the worse, so you stopped going to school.

What Si-eun was doing now, so you erased him from your memory, pretending you’d never met. How you were holding up losing everything you had ever wanted, so you tried anything to protect your heart.

You hated them. You despised them. They took everything from you. The choice you never got to make. A version of yourself you were still mourning. The happiness your friends brought you. Suho, Beom-seok
 Si-eun.

“For what?” You laid your palm against his cheek, lifting his head enough to apply the ointment over a rather deep cut. You didn’t think that was the thing pestering him though. Still, he avoided your gaze. And you were going to ignore it until you felt a tear brush past your hand.

You put the cotton swab down, taking the other side of his face. He unconsciously leaned into the touch. The warmth on his cold skin. The comfort that you would always bring. Suho always said you were the sunlight on a cloudy day, but you’ve never felt more overcast than you do now.

But then, finally, your eyes met, tears falling slowly over your thumbs as you brushed them away.

And, for the first time in what felt like forever, you saw it. The scars that were constantly ripped open. The inner-turmoil that was debilitating: Not eating and not sleeping. You saw it. The love he harbored and pushed aside, respecting your wishes to never see his face again. You saw it.

“It wasn’t your fault.”

And maybe the beliefs had gotten it wrong, all the stories that said the eyes were the window to the soul, because all you could see was a reflection of the person looking back at you. All you could see in Si-eun’s eyes was you.

“It’s not your fault, Si-eun.”

The air was coated in a mutual understanding; It lingered. The pain lingered
He lingered. The memory has seemingly dug its claws deeply into your heart and wouldn’t let up. He knew it, you knew it. There was something so devastatingly romantic about it all—how evil life could be. It took and it gave, and it was never fair. Inflicted wounds that only got infected, but gave you someone who was hurting the same way. Someone who related to the way you couldn’t close your eyes without being haunted. The torment your heart felt.

But the price tag on codependency was high, and you didn’t seem to have the funds back then—the will to stay.

You should’ve stayed. You should’ve been his comfort, his friend and something in between. You shouldn’t have been scared to keep him close, afraid you’d lose him as you lost your safety-net.

“I-I—“ He started, “I haven’t been able to sleep since. I haven’t been able to close my eyes without seeing him. I-I—it’s my fault, yn, he shouldn’t have gotten involved. None of you should’ve. I’m sorry,”

Suho had never let you get involved in his hobby to learn self-defense skills, and then Si-eun came along and suddenly it was all fists and glory. Guardian-angel this, guardian-angel that.

Nonetheless, maybe the eyes were insightful. Because you saw it. A play-by-play of every interaction: When Suho introduced you to his new friend who he described as ‘cold as ice’, to two-weeks later when you sang karaoke, and three-months in when you got drunk and confessed your undying love for Si-eun. Then Beom-seok selling you all out because of jealousy, and fight after stupid fucking fight. Crumbling, crushing, shattering. And then nothing. Everyone was suddenly gone, and sometimes that felt longer than them actually being in your life.

And you blamed him only because you needed someone to blame. But your guilt ate at you.

As he did too.

“I forgave you, Si-eun.” You leaned down, wrapping your arms around his shoulders. He hesitated before you felt the embrace you longed for—the embrace he longed for. “Forgive yourself.”
