“The power required to use all of the stones at once is so significant that it sends Thanos into this dream state. You’ll notice his arm is damaged post the snap, the gauntlet is damaged post the snap, it’s the incredible energy required from it and only because of his strength is he able to survive actually using the gauntlet in that capacity.” - Joe Russo, Director of Captain America: Civil War, Avengers: Infinity War, & Avengers 4
There’s been two quotes – one from screenwriter Christopher Markus and one from director Joe Russo – emphasizing Thanos required energy and suffered damage to his left arm to use the Infinity Gauntlet. What’s odd is these are two things associated with Tony, which makes me think there’s a likelihood we’ve been getting hints all along Tony will use the gauntlet to reverse what Thanos has done.
… Maybe it’s been in front of us the whole time:
Tony: “[Howard] was cold, he was calculating. He never told me he loved me. He never even told me he liked me, so it’s a little tough for me to digest when you’re telling me he said the whole future was riding on me and he’s passing it down. I don’t get that.”
Howard [to Tony]: “[The New Element] is the key to the future. I’m limited by the technology of my time, but one day you’ll figure this out. And when you do, you will change the world. What is and always will be my greatest creation is you.“
Honestly I’m so tired of all this unfair hate for Tony. We all can write, draw, do an essay, make schemes of every single reason why Tony Stark is a good person, why he cares, why he is a hero not just because he is IronMan and why he deserves better. Haters will reduce everything in a simple “yes but he creates Ultron”, “he fucked up”, “he’s an alcoholic”, “he’s egocentric” and other shit like that. We can spend our life telling them that Tony Stark is only human, that his faith in people fucked him up, that he is just scared and wants to protect the ones he loves. That he is always suffering, both mentally and physically. That he creates Ultron not just for fucking fun but because, for him, it was the only right thing to do to save the world. And he was wrong, he knows that. But humans do that you know. People get scared and react. He was not trained for this shit and he has not superpower so he did the thing he can do better: build a machine. That’s pretty much what he did, react. He didn’t hide, he had the courage to react. He fucked up, but then he went and tried to fix his mistakes but even then haters blamed him for the civil war. So what’s the point? Now I just wanna say to everyone who’s in #TonyStarkDefenseSquad, let’s just spread around how magnificent our genius is. Let’s celebrate his personal victories and even his defeats even if no one else understands what it took to accomplish them. We know he’s came a long way from where he began, he has grown. We won’t forget his past and all the pain he went through. We’re gonna always be upset when some little jerk will say shit about him but Tony Stark taught us to be better, and fight for the things we believe in and the people we love so… Let’s protect him but guys, stop fighting with haters: It’s not worthy it.
Optimus: *bolts upright from his recharge slab* SHIT, I’M LATE FOR PATROL! Optimus: …oh right, I’m not a cop anymore. *lays back down* Optimus: Zzz… Optimus: *jumps up again* I’M A PRIME!
Ok so I see all these wonderful posts going around about Cade and Optimus being happy together, and they’re awesome but I think we should be paying more attention to Tessa.
Tessa who suddenly had a second dad, one who’s just as fiercely fond and protective of her as her biological dad (and far more respectful of her bodily autonomy!) One who sits with her on the back lawn and tells her stories, the stories he grew up with on a far away world. One who helps her with the mountains of paperwork involved in applying to colleges and scholarships.
One who comes and picks her up when her car breaks down one night so Cade doesn’t get woken up (he’s just come back from a business trip and is super jetlagged).
One who, on the nights that Cade works way too late, shows up at the kitchen window and takes a food-laden plate delicately between thumb and forefinger and carries it over, crouching so he won’t spill it. (It’s a plastic plate; the first time it was glass and it went badly).
He’s the one she can talk to about pregnancy scares, even if he has to spend a few moments searching the internet before he can give reassurances. He doesn’t freak out (and as she later finds, has had them himself) and offers whatever help she needs, whatever her decisions. He’s the one she can talk to about relationship issues, since Cade exists somewhere between Does Not Want To Hear It and Let Me Get My Shotgun, That Son Of A Bitch Does Not Deserve My Baby Girl.
He’s the one who teaches her how to use the weapons the other Cybertronians keep leaving around the place. He’s the one who ever-so-gently scolds Cade when Cade raises objection to his baby girl fighting. “It is not our job to protect her,” he says. “It is our job to teach her to protect herself.”
(That ‘our’ does a lot to mollify Cade. It makes it less accusatory—and it’s a reminder of just how seriously Optimus takes their relationship.)
It’s Optimus she talks to about the rejection letters from colleges. Dad’s so hopeful, she doesn’t want to tell him; Optimus reminds her that it would be kinder to let him know. It’s Optimus she talks to when she gets into one, because holy crap it is on the other side of the country how is Dad gonna manage without me?
Optimus points out that Cade is fully adult, and should be able to manage things for himself. At the long look Tessa gives him, he adds, “But I will remain here as well.”
Because in the end, Optimus didn’t just wind up with a human partner…he became part of a human family.
Normally I wouldn't approve of Optimus killing a human being but...
1. He did it to save Cade Yeager who Harold Attinger was about to shoot and...
2. Attinger was a prejudiced dick who had goodness knows how many Autobots killed. Attinger was scum. May he not rest in peace.
stay away from his waifu >:c
okay but what about the first time one of nebula’s parts breaks down in avengers 4 and tony instantly volunteers to fix it and at some point she actually lets him help her
you know that fascination people have for tony getting close to bucky because he has a metal arm and has been used as a weapon against his will and all. nebula has all of that going on and she wasn’t involved in the murder of tony’s family so just tALK TO ME ABOUT THEM BECOMING FRIENDS AND NEBULA FEELING SAFE WITH TONY AND TONY SHAKING OFF THE FEELING THAT HE’S ALL ALONE NOW BECAUSE HE HAS HER THERE JUST LIKE HE HAD YINSEN BACK IN AFGHANISTAN i’m gonna cry
[Peter Cullen roughly recalls speaking with his brother, Larry]
Larry: Peter, where are you going?
Peter: I'm going to audition, Larry.
Larry: For what?
Peter: For a truck.
Larry: A truck?!
Peter: Yeah, I'm a truck! But he's a hero, Larry. He's a hero.
Larry: A hero truck, Peter? Well, Peter, be a real hero. Don't be one of those run-of-the-mill heroes, you know, where they're all screaming and yelling. Be gentle, be calm, be softly, you know, and be strong enough to be gentle.
Peter: Okay.
Larry: And good luck.
