DEAN WINCHESTER ✧ 4.11 FAMILY REMAINS
I think Rex 🤝 Kallus friendship is neat for a lot of reasons. Firstly, I think Kallus needs a role model for deprogramming imperial behavior and would not, as former ISB, be very easily trusted amongst other defectors. Meanwhile, Rex has a lot of experience with separating what's him from what's "programming" and would probably understand more about quitting the thought police than he's truly comfortable with. Lots of uncomfy realizations abound for both of them when they compare notes, you know?
But also I think Kallus would be the guy who appreciates the boring stories from the Clone Wars, the stories about Rex and Cody doing the admin work that became the framework for imperial codes later on, the guy who really just gets it when Rex tells the story about him and Kanan sneaking around disguised as troopers. "The commissary" is like the joke they end up sharing or something and that's a fun little way for them to get through after Kanan is gone because it kills Rex to lose another Jedi friend and Kallus has zero experience healthily mourning and I think that would be nice for them to have a shared thing that's bonding but also healthy grief.

I love when the whumpee has to reinvent themself. No, you will never be the past you again, they are permanently changed by the trauma, but that does not mean death. You just have to find you again. The people who care about you might mourn, you might as well, but getting to know each other again can be quite interesting.
I’m posting this late at night because I’m conflict avoidant but I’ve seen people say that kallus “all lives matter”-s Zeb on Barhyn (which somehow convinces Zeb and also endorses that message) which is just???? Completely incorrect?
kallus says something along the lines of “does that rule apply to imperials” when Zeb says that the empire views the rebels as a monolith. Zeb immediately claps back with “all the imperials I know”. Zeb doesn’t fall for that shit, because he’s right: all imps are the same. You chose to be an imp and you chose to be a monster. More importantly: Kallus is still a bad guy, and he’s wrong for believing that.
Kallus fucking defects. Like lads, this should be obvious. He realizes that he’s wrong too! The only good imp is a dead imp! He can’t be a good person and an imperial so he defects as soon as he realizes he’s a monster. He even goes the extra mile of becoming a spy: he could have cut lose and run or tried to be a “good imp” but he doesn’t. There are no good imperials.
No one’s operating procedure changes. Zeb doesn’t go easier on stormtroopers because he got convinced that you can’t treat them all as a monolith. When Kallus joins the rebellion he doesn’t do that either.
that’s all Jules has to say. If you need me I’ll be hiding away in a hole 👍
I'd like to bring more attention to this fundraiser by @ayeshjourney
This fundraiser is being organized by our vetter, who is on the ground in Gaza, prioritizing others over himself for months, and giving our little operation the legitimacy to allow people to donate without any worry about scammers. There is no overstating how important his work and diligence during these times has been.
Even as he's organizing this fundraiser, his only hope is that he can help his little brother and his family, who have been continuously suffering throughout this year long ordeal. In our discussions with Mohammed, it is so clear how important his brother, Yasser, is to him. he goal of this fundraiser is to make sure not only his family is taken care of, but Yasser's medical care is taken care of as well.
(ID in Alt)
Yasser lost his hearing at a very young age due to the persistent presence of Israeli military artillery. He relies now on a medical device to communicate with his family, and the worsening living conditions have damaged this device and reversed Yasser's progress in learning to communicate with his family. A repair is completely beyond what Mohammed and his family can afford on top of their expenses just trying to survive this genocide.
This fundraiser is still under 2,000!! The goal is 60,000! Share and donate urgently!
Parts of Coruscant, especially in the extra-dense areas, don't have any cooking implements in the apartments besides a microwave and small fridge. (Hot plates are a fire hazard.) Instead of cooking for themselves, residents visit food vendors or buy microwave meals. Prepackaged snacks that don't require refrigeration are also common.
You know those 'microwave hacks' and 'MRE hacks' and 'prison food hacks?' That's the kind of "cooking" that Kallus knows.
In contrast, Zeb learned how to cook both at home and at school, and had an abundance of fresh food to work with. Lasan's dominant government put out standardized cookbooks of healthy, easy to make meals for the home ec classes. These standard meals often vary, changed to match regional tastes, in individual schools.
The Wookies, being close allies and intellectual partners with Lasan, have these cookbooks saved as part of their Lasani Remembrance Archives. Alderaan also made a habit of trying to preserve at-risk cultures, and had copies in their own archives.
There's a big part of the holonet devoted to saving old recipes and adapting them to new circumstances--the Lasani diaspora is just one of many peoples trying to cope with being away from 'home.'
Zeb looks for Lasani recipes and subsitutions for Lasani spices, of course, but he also searches for recipes from Ryloth, Mandalore, and--the hardest to find--the Jedi Temple. When a Spectre is feeling particularly down, Zeb will make them something from their home to cheer them up.

still thinking about the brainrot that fast fashion has caused in people, like i made this pair of pants that are black and white with a cool flowery design, and an acquaintance saw them and said "wow i'd pay like 20 dollars for you to make me a pair" and i could barely think with how utterly horrified i was at that; i told them that 20 dollars wouldn't even cover the materials, let alone the hours of work that went into cutting, sewing, ironing, hemming, altering, etc. they just had this look on their face when i told them that, when i said i wouldn't make them a pair for even 100 dollars because that was still way too low of an amount, a look that said "you're crazy for thinking that those cost 100 dollars" and maybe i am crazy but holy shit, 20 dollars for a pair of handmade, durable, lined pants fitted specifically to your measurements? 20 dollars for upwards of 60 hours of work? 20 dollars for several yards of high-quality fabric, thread, and buttons? 20 dollars???
