shaking six year old me by the shoulders YOU WERE RIGHT. YOU WERE RIGHT ABOUT LOVE AND ABOUT FAIRNESS AND ABOUT SHARING IS CARING. YOU WERE RIGHT. THE ADULTS DON’T KNOW ANY MORE ABOUT TRUTH THAN YOU DO. KEEP BELIEVING IN THE FAIRIES AT THE BOTTOM OF THE GARDEN. NOTHING IS “JUST THE WAY IT IS”. I AM SORRY THEY EVER CONVINCED YOU TO FEEL SHAME. YOU ARE REAL AND A PART OF THIS WORLD. YOU WERE RIGHT.

while i was waiting outside for my ride home from the pharmacy, an older woman and her adult son walked past. the son was pointing at me at first, seemingly pointing toward my vest which has the trans flag on the back. i wasn't sure what to expect, but then their mother loudly went "OH! My son recognized your vest, I have a trans son! Not this one, but he's super supportive!" more people gotta be like that. i'm so happy to hear both the mom and that boy's sibling support them. healed my soul a little bit
