There’s something in Gray and Lucy’s relationship which can’t be describe in words. It is just so genuine, precious and just… irreplaceable. I have some ships that I love, but even those ships end up having corny moment, which make me a little “ehh…” When it comes to GrayLu, it’s not like that at all, I haven’t ever cringed at any of their developments. Never. It is always simple, subtle yet perfect.
Heartwarming.
Their moments are never forced in your throat. They always act so naturally around each other, like they were made to say the lines Mashima wrote for them. Like those lines are not just dialogues but actual conversations, they exchanged out of their own free will. I can make thousand other points on why I like this pair, but this point always takes the cake for me. This is what I like the best about them.
This is a map of Asia. North Americans, you may notice this map is not solely comprised of Japan, Korea, China and Thailand. People in the UK, you may notice India is not a continent. That is, if those of you who generalize entire continents can even pinpoint India on a map. Indians are Asian, gasp! And not all brown skinned people are Indian, also, gasp! There are an alarming amount of people, of all ages, from all backgrounds, who seem to be unable to process this.
I’m ethnically Asian. Since Asia is an extremely large continent, I could be from any number of countries. I am neither from India, China, Korea, Japan or Pakistan, yet not so surprisingly, I am still Asian.
Yes, there are commonalities across regions, through the conflation of cultures, colonialism, globalization, transnationalism and movement of diasporas. Sometimes these are all the same thing. Rickshaws, rice and curry can be found across the continent. But let’s not overgeneralize. You can also find Buddhists, Catholics, Muslims and Hindus across Asia. Cantonese Speaking Chinese Muslims! English Speaking Indian Jews!
No, we are not all the same. Orientalism? (Please look up Edward Said for basic concepts) No thank you.
Geography, people. It’s important.

STOP COMPLAINING ABOUT WINTEAM AHHHH!!
The book uwma is based off of is a very deanpharm focused one so of course it’s going to be more deanpharm than anything else. It has a story to tell, and it’s going to tell it. Do I want more manow and winteam? Yes I do, but I’m not going to throw a fit when they don’t show up.
I get being frustrated with it, trust me the rest of the gang definitely deserve more screen time than they’re given, but you shouldn’t say that the series is terrible because of that. Uwma has actually flipped a lot of bl stereotypes and has definitely left a mark on the history of bl.
Please recognize the achievements of uwma and not just linger on how some characters aren’t shown as often as you’d like.
Has anyone ever brought up biting or licking a Popsicle or ice cream on this website?
I bite them. Same with lollipops. People are horrified.
