‘　I Can Easily Imagine A Small, Grumpy, Sleepy Leif. ’

Someone with a bunch of energy and a lot to do succumbing to a cold slowly as their activity burns on. Be it a party, photoshoot, etc, any public event with a few people and obligations for the sick person in question. 

They’re buzzing around, trying to conversate with everyone they’re supposed to, keeping an eye on time-sensitive issues and all the while not noticing a vague… icky feeling outside of chalking it up as jitters. 

Mid-conversation they’re interrupted by a burst of dry coughing and hear a faint scratchiness in their voice. 

“Are you okay?” “Yeah, don’t mind me, just a tickle in my throat, now where were we?” 

They continue, the cough only getting more and more obtrusive until they break off from everyone else to have uninterrupted coughing fits that leave their hair damp with sweat and their cheeks rosy. They feel a little sluggish now and they step slower. 

They’re back to zipping about, their throat sore and scratchy, and they’re on an energy high, getting as much done as they can, trying to squeeze out a positive expression as they get uncomfortable. 

Then they start sneezing, wet, harsh sneezes shielded by a cloth napkin, fashionable pocket square, or a tissue, and suddenly they feel lethargic and achy, and they just want to go home, feeling feverish shivers crawl up their spine as they stagger over to their partner near the car. 

“You all burnt out?” “I suppose- Ah’tschiew! Ah… A-Ah’tschiew!- ‘Scuse me… *sniffle*” “ You sound like you’ve come down with something,”  “More like something dragged me down with it, uch- AH’TSCHIEW!”  “Well then, it’s home and then into bed so you can rest,”

Parent comforting child:

Cradling child close to their chest

Wrapping child in old blankets like a little burrito

“It’s okay. I’ve got you.”

Assuring child that the pain isn’t their fault

Distracting child with their favorite things (toys, comfort items, ect.)

“Nobody’s going to hurt you as long as I’m around.”

Watching child’s favorite childhood movie with them (bonus points if child is all grown up)

Wiping child’s tears away, cupping their entire face with their hand because child is so small

“It gets better, I promise.”

Child comforting parent:

Knowing parent is hurting, even when they hide it

Crawling into parent’s lap quietly

Gently patting their parent’s hands/head

“Even though you’re big, it’s okay to cry.”

Wiping parent’s tears away, using their entire hand to do so because parent is so big

Writing parent a note in crayon to cheer them up (bonus points if they include a messy drawing of their parent smiling)

Doing chores if they are a bit older, knowing that taking care of other tasks will help parent relax

Pretending they’re the one who needs comforting, because they know parent will try to hide weakness in front of them

One trope that I really like for Shiro is having him fall asleep somewhere when he’s not feeling well.

He comes down with a cold? After a terrible night, his throat is sore, his head hurts and he’s tired and achy as hell. He takes a sit at the sofa, lays his head back, just for a few minutes, and closes his eyes, but two hours go by, and meanwhile someone has already gone by, taken his shoes off and wrapped a blanket around his shoulders.

He injures himself? Same thing. He hadn’t been sleeping well and his body aches, and staying still feels better than moving. He wakes up a while later, pillows and blankets all around him, and he’s so comfortable, he just closes his eyes again and drifts off to sleep.

Shiro being comfortable and rested and cared for is so great.

Headcanons about Bug Fables Teams

Some of these are borrowed from other people, most are original.

Some of these are related to my crossover AU idea with Hollow Knight, but I’ll try to keep those to a minimum.

Team Slacker (Stratos and Delilah)

Their main role is investigating rumors of monsters and ruins out in the wilderness. Sometimes they get sent out to find ‘giant supplies’ like a tire for rubber, old tools for metal, etc. kinda like oil prospectors. This job is typically seen as highly dangerous due to the issues of long-distance travel, lesser bugs, bandits, etc. and thus is paid extremely well. Team Slacker, however, is so strong that they just do not have to worry about any of that.

Stratos has been divorced at least once, possibly even twice or thrice. He has kids and Delilah is their adopted wine aunt.
