Genuine question: why doesn’t Nintendo sell a lot of its Japan-exclusive merchandise internationally? There’s so much merch that we can’t access but really want as customers outside of Japan. Surely it would only mean more profits for the company, which will only exceed any shipping or manufacturing costs required to make and transfer the merch to other Nintendo branches? There’s three big official physical Nintendo stores where lots of merchandise is sold and two of them are in Japan (Osaka, Tokyo) excluding the New York store. What about people who don’t even live in the US, let alone living in NYC, like us Europeans and British fans, or even people who don’t have the opportunity to travel just to go to these stores? There’s so many products that aren’t even on the My Nintendo store, even licensed products by Play-Asia and Bandai-Namco are JP exclusive, and that’s not even considering marketing campaigns such as that of Baskin Robbins and 7-11, or even fun events/tournaments to celebrate franchises or game releases. Personally, I think it would really benefit both Nintendo and its fanbase to stop the region-locking of merch.
There's one charity that I haven't seen shared here personally, and that's Care for Gaza.
They're shared a lot on twitter as a reputable on-the-ground relief source. You can donate to their gofundme to help their efforts here.
hi friends. since the formation of bearotonin international, the team has been extremely intentional and diligent about the kind of content we display on our blog. we decided early on that we would not reblog anything current events, political, fundraisers, social justice, or anything else going on in the real world, because we wanted bearotonin to be a single place of refuge from the terribleness of the real world. we wanted our blog to be the one small place everyone could all come to to escape from whatever horrible sad things were happening in real life.
we know firsthand how overwhelming life is, and we know how overwhelming and stressful it is to constantly see upsetting things in life and online, where you are constantly asked to do more, feel a certain way, give more. so we created bearotonin international to be a little safe haven from all of that. where everyone could come to escape life and just enjoy bears, regardless of who they are, where they are from, what they believe in. the team has worked hard to make bearotonin international a positive and welcoming corner of the internet that makes life just a little bit more bearable for everyone.
the team are all politically and socially active in our professional lives, our personal lives, and on our personal blogs. and we thus have felt alright allowing bearotonin to remain entirely free from real world events and tragedies. however, the team have been so thoroughly disturbed by the lack of care or even conversation for the human rights atrocity going on in front of our eyes, that we cannot stay silent on what’s going on right now.
we do not feel this is in any way a polarizing post, but we know some people will likely take it to be one, and we are okay with that. just know that the bearotonin team loves and cares deeply for all human beings, and never condones hatred, bigotry, or violence of any form. the team loves ALL human beings and are saddened by any violence and loss of human life.
however. we must speak out against what the israeli government is doing to gaza and the innocent civilians who live there — half of whom are children. we cannot turn away from the atrocities and the genocide that is going on before our eyes and that many of our governments are not only condoning, but are actively funding. we cannot be silent, and we urge all of you not to be silent either.
please take the time to educate yourselves about the history of palestine, and the history of gaza, and the oppression, violence, and crimes perpetrated against its people daily for the past 7 decades. please do not be silent about this atrocity. and please take action to stand against ethnic cleansing and to stand against genocide.
we know we are going to receive hate for this post, and we know some people will be upset by us posting this. but the team cannot and will not turn a blind eye to genocide. but we could not live with ourselves if we were silent and allowed this genocide to happen without saying a word against it.
please note: we will not be changing the content of bearotonin, and it will continue to be a refuge and haven from the real world. our doors and arms are open to all people, no matter where they are from or what they believe in. bears are for everyone and we will continue to provide a safe corner of the internet where we can all come together to escape the awfulness of the real world and enjoy and appreciate bears.
they should invent a new type of "staying in bed for 2-3 hours after you wake up repeatedly opening and closing apps on your phone" where it makes you feel awesome and energized and emotionally fulfilled
If the shoe was on the other foot, hell would break loose.
my son who i hate
Palestinian people who are suffering immensely in so many ways are still taking the time to rescue and help animals in Gaza for months now... and those who turn their backs on what is happening to Palestinian people... ya'll disgust me.
in light of israel's looming invasion on rafah, south africa implored the icj to call for the protection of palestinians with new preliminary orders. the icj denied this request, insisting that its january orders would be sufficient enough in ensuring the safety of people residing in rafah.
we have all seen how israel responded to the icj verdict earlier this month. they have all but intensified their attacks on palestinians, their favorite of whom seem to be children. this will end in a bloodbath. palestinians, already malnourished and living in literal tents, will be bombarded, they will be shot, they will be slaughtered. and when i say palestinians, a lot of them are actual toddlers. the videos coming out of this are proof enough.
at this point, it has been made amply clear that palestinians will never experience safety in their own homeland. a lot of the families in gaza are trying to raise funds to get out of it, because there's nowhere left to go.
there is nowhere left to go. if these people don't get the funds necessary to escape, they will die.
it's vital that you go to operation olive branch's spreadsheet, choose a family that resonates with you, and donate as much as you can to their gofundme. every last dollar counts. one dollar could be the difference between life and death for a family. please don't fall victim to the bystander effect. your contribution counts, however little it may be. and whether you're able to donate or not, spread this to as many people as you can. each second we stay silent is a second an entire family is brutally massacred.
Bethlehem, Palestine.
Usually there is a festive parade to celebrate Christmas.
But today it is a silent march for the lives lost in Gaza.
20,000K+ dead. Countless under the rubble and so many more injured.
In mine and many other east Asian cultures, the dragon traditionally symbolises things like power, wealth and strength (imperial symbol and all)
I think we often forget that in the story of the Great Race, the dragon came in fifth because it'd stopped to give people rain. Then it'd stopped again to push a rabbit adrift on a log across the wide river so it reached the shore safely (that's why the Rabbit year comes before the Dragon).
Dragons aren't meant to just be powerful - they are meant to do good with such power, and to help those in need.
So in this lunar new year, I hope you gain more power, so that you might be able to help others. I pray you have abundant resources so you may give to yourself and those around you. I wish you courage, endurance, kindness and generosity, for yourself and your people.
I hope you, and I, will be rain givers, life preservers, joy bringers.
I hope we will be dragons.
