The ShotBlocker

I’m a trypanophobic, meaning I am afraid of needles. My phobia has caused me to put off or completely avoid injections out of fear. However, recently I found something that helps immensely, the ShotBlocker, by Bionix.

From Bionix’s website,

’Bionix ShotBlocker® is an innovative device that instantly alleviates the pain and anxiety of needle injections. ShotBlocker® works through a novel application of the gate control theory of pain management. It is a plastic, C-shaped device with small bumps on its back. My doctor had no problems administering the shot, and I felt no pain. I don’t mean that as in ‘just a small sting’, I mean that the needle felt just like one of the plastic nubs. Absolutely no pain at all. I was stunned.

Of course, it doesn’t get rid of the anxiety/dizziness/nausea that I get during injections. But with time, I think I’ll be able to train myself out of that.

You can buy them on Bionix’s website for 5.99 USD, I think I got mine from Amazon for a few cents less. They’re reusable and relatively inexpensive. I’d recommend them to anyone.

Happy Year of New!!!! The Earth has made its way around the sun and here we all are!!! Let me just say how proud I am of us all, getting here wasn't the easiest task for many of us. But we made it. We got to see the dawn rise on a new year, filled with new opportunities and new chances to live our best lives.

"But Lola, what is my best life?" You may ask. And to that I say "Doing anything that makes you happy, regardless of what others think." It doesn't have to be a big thing or anything flashy or even something you can see now, but whatever lays on the horizon will be something that you can enjoy, and nobody can ever take that joy away from you.

Chin up, everyone. We're gonna make it through this year too. You've all got this, no matter what. And I am so proud of us all.

Fellow epileptics, I have some fantastic news for you. There’s an add-on that makes the internet safer for us. It’s called Epilepsy Blocker. The creator had me test it out, give feedback, he made adjustments, and it works great. It may even help those with migraine disorders that are triggered by the same thing that messes with those of use with photosensitive epilepsy (mine is a case of being absurdly sensitive).

This is the only add-on I’ve encountered made specifically for those of us with epilepsy. It’s not a well known add-on, but I hope to see that change.
