the neurodivergent experience:
20% of the time: wowwieee!!! i love my passions and interests!!!!! they make me so happy i want to jump up and down!!!!! weee!!!!!!! :3333333333
80% of the time: this mind is a prison
no sentence fills me with utter loathing so much as "i asked chatgpt"
"You're a nice guy. Any girl would be lucky to be your girlfriend."
"If someone doesn't like you, there must be something wrong with them."
Stop. Just fucking stop.
Are you trying to turn him into an incel? Because that's how you create incels.
I get it. He's upset because people don't like him just because he's different. You want to reassure him. But this is not how you do it.
Being disliked is a fact of life. People have every right to dislike him. He also has every right to dislike someone.
If you want to reassure him, you can instead remind him that someone disliking him doesn't mean others will dislike him too.
You can also inform him of how it's acceptable to treat someone who you don't like. It's acceptable to not like someone, and there doesn't even have to be a good reason for it. But it's not acceptable to cause harm to them, to recruit others to not like them, to openly declare dislike for them when they aren't doing anything that requires liking them, or to exclude them from public places.
Buck, coming into the firehouse: I need everyone to be clear, I am not in love with Eddie, he is straight
Ravi: If you are actually seriously trying to tell me, you are not in love with Eddie, after I spent hours listening to you talk about him last night, I am going to strangle you
This is something everyone should hear. Like people, will just power through and not realize they are breaking their body/mind doing so. Like if you want to fine. But if it's just to meet other's expectations of you why should you break your body/mind for them?
Hey, it’s ok to not be a “productive member of society.”
Some people are housebound. Bed bound. Some people physically can’t eat, shower, or use the toilet without the assistance of a caretaker. Some people don’t have the spoons to get out of bed in the morning, let alone work a 9-5 job in this capitalist hellhole.
You’re not lazy. You’re not less than.
And this is coming from a disabled person with chronic pain who can leave the house and walk (with some pain) without mobility aids.
You deserve to take up space. You deserve to cost money. You deserve to be here without feeling guilty just because you can’t give back in the traditional way.
You’re worth it, hun. 🫶🏼
- switches that feel like you’re turning into someone else rather than them taking control (non-possessive switching)
- being unable to recognize amnesia until something requires you to remember something you forgot
- staying in the front for weeks at a time
- being unable to communicate with alters internally (this is so common why does everyone act like this is weird?)
- feeling like you don’t have any problems because you feel disconnected from them
- constant denial
- rapid identity, label, and appearance changes
- comorbidities, particularly personality disorders, anxiety disorders, and the schizophrenia spectrum
- autism (there is science pointing towards autistic people being more susceptible to trauma)
- disliking your system
- wanting final fusion
Disagree? Respectfully, you can argue with a wall🫶
Some women are conditioned to be fragile and weak, and to believe that it's a sin to outperform a man. Her feminism would involve allowing women to be strong.
Some women are expected to be strong at times when they can't. Her feminism would involve reassuring her that it's okay to not be strong.
Some neurodivergent people are raised to believe that they're too stupid to ever amount to anything. Their disability activism would involve reassuring them that they're capable.
Some neurodivergent people are raised to believe that they're smart and gifted, and are expected to live up to impossible standards. Their disability activism would involve allowing them to fail, make mistakes, be stupid, etc.
Some children are constantly reminded "you're the child, I'm the adult" in order to deny their autonomy. Their youth rights activism would involve treating them like an adult at times when they feel ready for it.
Some children are treated like adults in order to justify increased expectations or to downplay abuse against them. Their youth rights activism would involve allowing them to be a child.
There is no one-size-fits-all solution to oppression. Each individual person's experience is different. Whatever trauma is caused by their oppression, the activism should focus on undoing it.
