big news, friends: tonight i hung out with my cousin who I never see (cousin 1, delightful, heterosexual, I see him once every five years), and he told me that a different cousin (cousin 2) who I haven't seen in like twenty years because cousin 2 is a homophobe and I'm a homo....is currently a firefighter at the lafd and I was like cousin 1. this saddens me deeply. I am devastated right now. and he was like why? and I was like, you see, cousin 1, I'm kind of obsessed with this tv show about the lafd, and now you tell me I have a blood relative who works for the lafd and I can't even text him to ask for inside scoops and he was like wait, wait, my girlfriend and I love that show! Sergeant Athena Grant! and I was like YES OMG. Eddie Diaz is my BOY, and he was like beenado! and I was like beenado!!!! and then he was like have you seen the most recent one and I was like OBVIOUSLY I've seen the most recent one, and he was like do you think chimney will live, and I was like yes, obviously chimney will live. do you think BOBBY will live, and he was like?????? captain nash is not in danger? and I was like wait for it, man, wait for it. and then i decided to be a Social Scientist so I was like "my second favorite after Eddie is Buck," and he said, unprompted, two things about Buck: 1. "Buck is so funny when he gets sad. He's such a sad boy"
2. "I was really surprised by the bisexual plotline. Like, they did that, and I was like, what are the writers doing? But then they kept going and I was like, you know what, makes sense."
at which point I was like "well who do you think Buck's going to end up with now though?"
and UNPROMPTED he was like "Well, it's gotta be Eddie"
and I was like cackling with joy, obviously, and I was like what makes you think that. like I think that, but why do you think that, and he was like "dude, he's living in his HOUSE." and I was like "he's a renter!!!" and then he was like "and it's so obvious his sister thinks he's in love with Eddie" and I was like "cousin 1, when you're right you're right."
anyway. an evening of joy and good cheer <3
“Why should rich people pay more” because fuck ‘em
“So you are okay for paying more when you have money” I am not excluded from ‘fuck ‘em’ when relevant
Mundane Plurality by the Crossroads System
These are the first few pages of a comic we'll be working on highlighting the mundane day to day of plurality. Hope y'all like it.
The bimbo feminism girls who love Legally Blonde really missed like the whole point of the movie. The point is that she's not a brainless bimbo. She saves the day with her knowledge of haircare, sure, but she got in the room by going to law school. You cannot reduce that movie down to "Girl knowledge saves the day!" because the perm wouldn't have mattered if she hadn't spent the entire rest of the movie working her ass off in an unrelated field. The feminist angle is that she can have girly interests and also be smart, not that having girly interests is feminist in itself
For real
Until you’ve ever been gaslit by the healthcare system I don’t give a fuck about your opinion on self diagnosis
having comorbidities that contradict/contraindicate each other is so stupid man.
you have PMDD. every time you get your period you spend the week before on the edge of a major depressive episode and lose all hope for the future. unfortunately for you, you also have PCOS, which makes Hell Week entirely unpredictable.
so you try to stabilize and predict Hell Week via birth control. but wait! you have migraines with aura! all hormonal birth control is now contraindicated for you, because it increases your risk of death.
ah, well, fuck. okay, well, you have pcos and your hormones are out of wack, let’s get those back on track. but guess what! that’s hormonal birth control again! so your testosterone stays high, and you have chronic acne now.
well, okay, let’s leave the hormones alone. let’s just deal with the acne. however the high-strength acne prescriptions cause such bad birth defects that you are almost legally required to be on some form of birth control. can you see where i’m going with this?
okay, so birth control would “solve” all your problems at the risk of maybe making one thing worse. let’s chance it. oops! you’re now horrifically depressed for a third of every month—and not just that, but your migraines did get worse, and now you’re barely functional.
fuck fuck fuck, get off that. stop taking that. go get an MRI just in case. well, i hope you enjoy migraines, because for some reason that birth control experiment did lasting damage. but don’t worry, your MRI is completely clean!
just. comorbidities, man.

Ok I need everyone to understand that Buck and Eddie are both products of their upbringing. Buck was a child of neglect, which led to him having abandonment issues. While Eddie was a child forced to grow up too fast, which led to him having hyper-independence. Two different kind of traumas. Two different kinds of trauma response. Which would require two different kinds of help.
Buck and Eddie help each other overcome these things and because they are two different kinds of problems, the way they help will ALSO be different. Ever since they met, Eddie has always been there for Buck (don't even fight me on this) and Buck has always given Eddie what he needs. It will look imbalanced, but it's really not. They both need SOMEONE in their lives, just in different ways.
Buck doesn't need someone to take over his lease, or to take care of his son, or to help him figure out childcare, he needs someone to Not Leave Him Alone. Eddie doesn't need someone to tell him he's not expendable, or to be reassured he's trustworthy, or to be promised he's not going to be abandoned, he needs someone to Give Him a Helping Hand. And the moment they became friends they have been those SOMEONES to each other.
They are each other's persons. Equally.
what they don't tell you about making friends is you gotta be a lil annoying. you gotta push past the fear of "what if they don't want to talk to me" and simply ask someone how their day is going, send a meme. you cannot connect to people if you're both just awkwardly waiting for the other to start.
Just to talk and enjoy my stuff. I have two side blogs ;) Read my pinned post ! Humans are fascinating
