Haven't been able to get these words out of my head. The fact they are the last thing he says. At first, I was just like "Okay, that's a very Kunikida thing to say" but then I put them into context of what just happened.

He'd been impaled and was desperately trying to use his last moments to allow Tanazaki time to escape. He knew he wasn't living after this, so as per his ideals he was going to fight until his last breath to save another life. If he can die in-service of helping someone else survive, that's enough for Kunikida.

And then he hears Atsushi shout his name. Atsushi ran up from behind Amenogozen, Kunikida probably saw him coming as well. He gripped the sword in his chest with the last of his strength to aid Atsushi in whatever way he could.

And Atsushi chose to save Tanizaki. The very thing he'd been trying to do just seconds before.

That why I think he'd smiling here, that's why I think he says his ideals will live on. Not in some abstract way, but in a direct reference to Atsushi, because he was Atsushi's mentor too. From day one, Atsushi has been seeking guidance from Kunikida, even when he didn't know how to give it.

One of the first pieces of advice Kunikida gives Atsushi is to "start thinking what you can do."

And it has been something he's been trying to figure out ever since. What can he do to help those who need it? To be worthy of living?

Both Atsushi and Kunikida want to save people. Both of them have been struggling on how to achieve that this whole time. Saving people isn't just a single action to Kunikida, it's sacrifice, it's taking on a burden, it's knowing you're tied to this person afterwards.

It's knowing you can't always save everyone no matter how much you want to. It's prioritizing saving who can and living with that.

Kunikida knew he couldn't be saved, but he hoped Tanizaki could. When Atsushi chose to leave him and save Tanizaki he following in Kunikida's footsteps.

His ideals will live on, in Atsushi.

I went down a youtube rabbit hole and ended up watching tours of love hotels in Japan and now I'm going insane at the unmet potential of love hotels in bsd fancontent and I don't even mean in a sexy way (different topic for a different time)

There is a subcategory of hotels in Japan built for last-minute check-in and designed around privacy and (pseudo) anonymity with soundproof walls and little to no interaction with other guests or staff and we have a bunch of characters who should avoid being recognized or would need to hide for a short time for various reasons.

These hotels are also often equipped with all necessities for an overnight stay without having to bring anything. Toileteries are all included and they'll even lend you PJs. You can order food and not have to encounter the staff at all when they deliver it to your door. Most of them have inflatable bath mats for the (traditional Japanese) bathroom floor. The sexy stuff is more or less apparent depending on which hotel you're in (that can be funny). You can stay overnight but you can also stay for a few hours in the middle of the day. There's always a karaoke machine.

The potential! The scenarios! Do you not see it? Get your mind out of the gutter I said that was a topic for another time. Do you see the ways these could be used! Do you see how convenient these could be!! They can hide! They can tend to their wounds! They can be stupid! They can spend the night there when they weren't expecting to have to! Only 29 fics in the BSD tag have the "love hotels" tag too! We can form a revolution! Don't drag me away I'm not done!!

while chuuya is. oblivious most of the time when it comes to GENUINE attraction.. i do think there are times where he can be flirty a bit. picture if you will. chuuya at a club and he's seated in the vip section or something. he catches the eyes of a specific person. he stares for a bit before a small smirk comes across his face. a sip of his drink is made while still holding eye contact. before he gets up , eye contact still be held , until he vanishes into the crowd. the flashing lights offer a glimpse of him once in a while , slipping between people in the crowd before he vanishes again. the music is loud and if they attempt to follow , they will be confused within the crowd. until... his voice whispers in their ear. something innocent yet cocky. something like. "are you following me? such manners." before he steps back , a smile on his face. eyes never leaving theirs.

Chuuya: I mean.. give yourself a fucked up back story, good skin care routine, an amazing mentor, and 10 whore friends, it'll give ya that,, but those are the things contributing to the attractiveness factor... I don't know all about this 'perfect' schick.
