1) Nothing, In A Bit Of A Slump!

1) Nothing, in a bit of a slump!

2) The Friends We Keep by Jane Green.

3) Some of the newer fantasy books ( Leigh Bardugo, VE Schwab...)

4) I have a book by Hank Green ( brother of John) that looks right up my street

5) I don’t think so.

6) Anne of Green Gables series,  Little Women and sequels are both regular re-reads. Babysitters Club and Nancy Drew, plus the Sweet Valley Twins series. I have by no means read all of them, so would happily do so if I were given them/found them available cheaply.

7) I love the Percy Jackson/Trials of Apollo/Roman god companion series, they appeal to my deep deep love of mythology. I think the Cormoran Strike detective novels are great too, hope there’s another one soon!

8) Fantasy! But I have not read much sci-fi...

9) Nothing for the moment ( damn my slump!).

10) Oh yes, especially when a version comes out just before the film and it has the lead actor on it! It hinders my ability to picture the character properly! I have definitely been turned on/off by a pretty or ugly cover too-I’m evidently a very visual person!

11) Yes, a JK Rowling one, her first or second adult/non Harry Potter book. Not her Cormoran Strike ones, written under a pseudonym.

12) Yes! John Barrowman, Michael Caine, Lauren Graham... Biography: Marilyn Monroe, if that counts.

13) Don’t mind, but prefer biographies as they are more objective.

14) Fiction!

15) Chick-lit, YA, crime... Impossible to choose!

16) biographies, travel journals ( love Bill Bryson), origins of words/expressions/language evolution and usage...

17) not usually a big fan, it has to be social history ( women’s rights, fashion, food) rather than political and have engaging characters to follow. Tracy Chevalier does this well, I liked Jessie Burton’s The Miniaturist too, and possibly a Philippa Gregory too.

18) Read the book first, unless I am unaware that a book version exists ( First Wives Club). This means I have the right to complain when characters or settings on screen do not match the picture I had in my head, and I get annoyed at all the side plots/minor characters that were glossed over/written out...

19) Paperback

20) Yes, most of my collection is on my e-reader!

21) one very small one, due to having a Kindle!

22) By order of purchase on my reader!

23) Buying on my e-reader, as they are often cheaper than the paper versions, and take up far less space! Otherwise I try to get them second hand/previously owned.

24) Fairly happy to, although I have lost some for good, unfortunately!  25) I try to look after them as best as I can, but I often eat or drink while reading, so they sometimes get a bit dirty, oops!

26) To Kill A Mockingbird has a special place in my heart. It was assigned summer reading but we ended up studying a different text. Captain Corelli’s Mandolin I read the summer I finished my GCSEs and I still love it, even though I ended up studying it for A-Levels!

27) Love stories that end tragically, parents losing a child, abuse, friendships unravelling...

28) A happy ending, strong (female) friendships coming through, an unexpected love interest....

29) Gone With The Wind. I think the copy I had was 600-800 pages.  30) I’m most like Meg and Beth from Little Women , would love to be friends with Anne Shirley, adore Atticus Finch, and think Peeta from The Hunger Games is my kind of guy too.

The Engagement Ring That Hotch Uses To Propose To Penelope In My AU Into The Gotchaverse. It’s Supposed

The engagement ring that Hotch uses to propose to Penelope in my AU Into The Gotchaverse. It’s supposed to be rose gold, with an opal in the centre, surrounded by alternating diamonds and pearls. I figured Hotch wouldn’t go for a stone of any particular colour, as Penelope wears all of them ( Jack comes to help and says he thinks Penelope’s favourite colour is rainbow!) and a coloured gem could clash with whatever outfit she was wearing. Pearls and diamonds are also neutral/go with anything, and Penelope also wears gold and silver jewellery, so rose gold seemed like the best choice. Traditionally opals and pearls are not used in engagement rings, as opals are supposed to come loose very easily and pearls represent tears/sadness, so not very auspicious. I feel like Hotch would know that and mentions it once Penelope has accepted. She, of course, loves it! Now I have to write the proposal, in my head it is very romantic, thoughtful and sweet, so I hope that translates to the page!

Hey bros, baes, and nonbinary gays! If you don't have a mom (for whatever reason) I am your mom now. I was given the Mommy title in my group chat for a reason. I am mom. I will protect you. Do you need a hug? I will give you all the hugs. Do you want to show me something you made that you're proud of? I'll put it on the fridge. Do you need someone to talk to? Talk to me about everything. I am mom now.

Thoughts on Law and Order Organised Crime, Seasons 3 and 4

I thought Season 3 was extremely boring, as I watch for the Stabler family interactions and Elliot and Olivia moments.

The scene between Eli and Elliot at the end of the episode with the Asian father searching for his son was sweet. Elliot teasing him about his clothes being all over the floor as well as providing a good home-cooked meal felt very true to the characters and their father-son dynamic, as well as Eli not being forthcoming about his girlfriend without some prodding. How is Eli old enough to be in college? The only explanation I can come up with is that Eli was so far ahead in his studies, having studied in Italy ( European curriculum is allegedly a couple of years ahead of the equivalent grade in the US, so US uni courses are equivalent to Junior or Senior Year courses in the UK). There were several other instances where I was very confused by the timeline, like Elliot’s dad being dead by 1993 as Elliot says he went to his dad’s grave with a sandwich and two beers when he made detective, aged about 25, yet had also been able to serve in the Marines on several missions... Honestly, I’ve given up trying to understand it! Also still trying to figure out the age order and age gap between the older Stabler siblings, which is also very confusing. Joe Jr’s year of birth is 1980-something ( based on the safe code in his hotel suite that Elliot and Randall figure out), which would mean Elliot was in his late teens/early. 20’s ( so already married with at least one kid) by the time Joe Jr came along.

The Season 3 episode ending establishes a pattern as Eli doesn't tell his dad he’s split from Rachel, but tells Randall. It kind of mirrors the Season 4 finale, with Elliot teasing Eli about being up early at first, then asking the probing/deeper questions. I wish Eli had just told him, but seeing as how his dad reacted to him joining the police force, I can understand why he didn’t want to. I love that he and Bernie both figured it out, albeit in very different ways that felt very true to their characters.

The family dinner episode in Season 4 was very dramatic and the revelations were pretty shocking. I knew the truth about Joe Sr but to actually hear it and see all the characters deal with the aftermath was so impactful. Again, everyone reacting, talking over each other and wanting to leave both then and when Eli tells them he’s going to be a police officer. I really get why Elliot doesn’t want him to join up, with all the dangers he has faced and faces in the Season.

The casting continues to be excellent, as Joe Jr looks just like the actor who played Joe Sr as they have a similar build, face/nose shape and colouring. Randall looks like a stockier version of Elliot.

I think it’s sad that the Stabler kids have cousins they have never met/hung out with as Randall has been in Florida for about 40 years, and got married and had kids at some point.

I enjoyed the little moments with Carisi and Rollins. It seems like Rollins and  Stabler have quite a close bond/an established friendship, so I would like to see Stabler have that bond with Carisi. They could have had a beer together after one of the cases and talked about their kids/families/whatever was going on. I think Carisi’s empathy and desire to look after people would be good for Stabler.

I was much more interested in the Season 4 episode arc, I thought they packed a lot into 13 episodes.

One of the many reasons I cannot picture JJ and Reid together romantically! Even as a friend, I think that she is quite unkind in that scene. Love Emily’s dynamic with Spencer though, very supportive and like a big sister to him!

hello my fellow hufflepuff 💛 i’m here to give you those d9 thoughts! i love yapping abt them so thanks for giving me the chance!

i agree!! they should absolutely be stronger contenders than what were shown. they should at least be on par with 11 since they’re similar industries. the only thing i can think of it a difference in culture, maybe? the people on 9 tend to be more adverse to violence and sort of…accept their fate?

i do think it’s a big district land wise and things are probably pretty spread out due to the farmland! population wise, i think you could make an argument that it’s big due to the industry being similar to 11. however, i actually lean towards it being one of the smaller districts.

i think that because of the location of district 9- based on the map of panem we have, district 9 would be in nebraska & the dakotas (though i think the majority is more nebraska). the dakotas are both in the list of the 10 least populated states and nebraska isn’t that far behind.

do you have any thoughts on 9?

I would be inclined to agree with you, that it is a big District in size but not very populated. Bigger than 12, for sure. They are also not as poor as D12. If each District is assigned a colour that stays the same every year for their tributes, I think 9’s colour would be yellow. I also think 9 fly under the radar a bit, they are generally hard-working and don’t cause trouble. I think the food-based Districts have to meet certain quotas so I think as long as they are made, they get fairly well fed. Maybe they have harvest festivals with necklaces and bracelets made from wheat stalks and adorned with salt dough flowers and have songs and dances they perform then.
