TIPS:
Remember that today’s day in age is different from how it was back then. So don’t stress about school too much.High school students today have the anxiety of what a mental patient in the insane asylum had in the 50s. Here’s also a thing to show how times have changed.
Prioritize. List what needs to get done first and when. Sometimes getting the bigger/harder tasks is easier than conquering the smaller/easier tasks.
Set times when certain projects need to be done and stick to that deadline.
Turn your phone off or give it to your parents while doing work/studying. I know that we live in the age of technology and literally everything is at the touch of our fingertips. Honestly though you can wait on what your favorite celebrity has to say or if your crush liked your instagram photo. You’ll be more involved in that than you are into your work.
If you have trouble in a certain subject and there is no assigned seating, take advantage of the front. I guarantee you’ll learn more.
Ask your teacher what exactly you’ll need to know. If you’re taking notes during the year, write in the margins whether or not it will be tested. It will be easier to know what you will be tested on.
Save your exams. Half the time your teachers use the same questions (or questions similar) from your exams on your midterms or finals.
Don’t try to do homework straight afterschool if you can’t, despite what everyone says. Give yourself an hour, and try to get some exercise in. I find it stops me getting bored of sitting down. Not to mention helps me concentrate better.
Don’t just read the material, write it, draw it, recite it, quiz yourself on it! Until you have the material down.
Join clubs, sports, or organizations! You’re guaranteed to find friends in there. You’ll already have common interests. Start with that and go with the flow.
College kids: If you don’t have assigned seating, and you have been sitting in the same seat for 2 weeks. That is you assigned seat now. Don’t move or you’ll screw everyone up and they will hate you.
Color code things, such as your notes. If you want to see how I color code my notes message me and I’ll be happy to show you.
Be kind to one another.
I hope that helps!
Best,
Lena
days of the week;
monday: snoozing your alarm clock, navy, seeing the moon in the morning, vanilla ice cream, writing poetry, blurry photographs, windswept hair, iced coffee
tuesday: seeing a cat on the street, a light rain shower, untied shoelaces, indistinct music from someone else’s earphones, empty coffee shops, denim jackets, long train rides
wednesday: pastel highlighters, drinking water, group laughter, plucking daisy petals, floral scents, counting down to a birthday, peonies
thursday: old books, a downpour, telling the truth, comfortable silence, hand holding, wrapping a gift, the smell of leather, reminiscence
friday: neon lights, sweet cravings, a little bit drunk, falling in love with a stranger, remembering your dreams, cherry red, late night showers, desserts at midnight
saturday: watering plants, childhood cartoons, a bowl of cereal, meeting someone new, waking up early and laying in bed, spontaneous plans, sitting on a rooftop
sunday: strawberry smoothies, golden hour, a soft feeling of wistfulness, lazy afternoons, 4pm naps, lofi mixes, deja vu, long daydreams, lighting sparklers
a: spend more time picking which pen and washi tape to use than actually taking notes. their notebook is a giant rainbow explosion.
b: simple. one pen, one notebook, maybe a highlighter if they’re feeling fancy.
c: takes notes on their laptop. organized, minimalist, timely. they have two windows open at all times: homework and tumblr.
d: doesn’t take many notes because they zone out for half of each class and is on their phone for the rest.
e: audio records the classes as well as taking notes by hand. later re-writes notes and types them *just in case* they lose their notebook. they never do.
f: never actually shows up to class, and if they do, they somehow forgot to bring a pen and paper.
g: you never see them taking any notes, instead they are always eating chipotle or mcdonalds in class. yet somehow they have the highest grade in the class.
An introverted high school girl from a working-class background and her wealthy, debate-team nemesis can’t agree on anything. But when they’re forced to work together to compete in the state championship, they might discover opposites can attract. Candy Jar premieres on Netflix April 27, 2018. Trailer here.
Notebook boys: You’d think they know a lot but no they’re head is in the clouds, dorky smiles and odd doodles for days, probably smell like a biology class room, always day dreaming especially during serious situations, not good with physical affection but will write you so many love letters and notes
Backpack boys: They always have what you need???? How???, doesn’t have one specific scent instead they have a variety ranging from day to day, clingy but not in a bad way they just want cuddles, under appreciated™, the original mom friend, full of energy and happy most of the time but when they’re not you need to RUN
Pen boys: Holds grudges like nothing else, likes to act tough, leather jackets and ripped skinny jeans, they only own black there is nothing else, just as clingy as backpack boys they just don’t show it, probably has tattoos, dark doodles on their arms, mystery scars that they never talk about, never broken the law but if people keep testing them…
Microscope boys: Get ya facts here!, the official nerd, really thick glasses how are they not blind, probably has straight A’s, has that sort of rarely used classroom kind of scent, bad puns and nothing else, they will not laugh unless you show them a really bad meme, knows almost every bill nye episode by heart
Desk boys: Litterally always asleep, and they can fall asleep on anything, covered in the weirdest tattoos, probably has gotten a tattoo of at least one fruit, class clown when they are actually awake, has a few scars from the craziest things, loves retro everything, probably smell kinda sweet but also kinda musty
White board boys: They remember nothing, absolutely nothing except for bad jokes and good memories, cute snickers at puns, will they ever mature? Probably not, they may not remember much but they’ll always remember if you upset them but luckily they don’t hold grudges, can’t draw that well but that doesn’t stop them , firm believers that nothing lasts forever, they don’t really have a scent they just smell… familiar
rose: aesthetic notebooks, sad movies, writing a diary, written work, looking up ten or so new fonts every day, soft giggles, can be distracted easily, sweet, always helping other students
sunflower: extremely competitive, studies wherever, high motivation but sometimes no talent, does the talking in group presentations, asks the questions others are afraid to ask, going on walks to clear your mind
lily: reading the course material over and over until you get it, fairy lights, can be innocent, cries over bad grades, disorganized, wants to bujo but doesn’t know how, dancer, probably scared to ask for help
orchid: self-starter, cinephile, can do anything they set their mind to, vintage supplies, always returns what they borrowed, best friends with the librarian, soft voice, ink pens
daisy: natural, wants to change the world someday, vegetarian, activist, can change your mind in two seconds, genuine laughter, not wanting anybody to feel left out, reading extra books because you’re not feeling challenged enough, getting lost in crowds, europe travels
cherry blossom: doodles in the margin, always tries their best, needs a lot of validation sometimes, shy, borrowing your friend’s notes and their sweaters, chapstick, bringing hot chocolate to study groups, mom friends, super organized, smol bean

Gryffindors: People who lean back against walls with one shoulder while they talk.
Hufflepuffs: Hugs that linger just a bit because neither of you really want to let go.

Slytherin: That 'accidental' slip of their gaze from your eyes to your lips as you're talking.
- What’s that you’re reading? - It’s about cryptography. - Like… Secret messages? - Not secret: that’s the brilliant part. Messages that anyone can see, but no one knows what they mean, unless you have the key. - How’s that different from talking? - Talking? - When people talk to each other, they never say what they mean. They say something else, and you’re expected to just know what they mean. Only I never do. So, how’s that different? - Alan, I have a funny feeling you’re going to be very good at this.
