The worst part is that it was never a conscious change we made to start worrying about being killed at school. I am in my second year of college now and as far as I know the last time I can firmly remember not being worried about a school shooting was in elementary school. 8th grade I am certain that the worry was placed in our hearts. But for my school the worst part was that I did not see students worried about how and who would be killed in a shooting all the students around us knew that they would try to live but we all expected to be the ones killed. For some it was a joke to tell your friends what you want your parents to know if a shooting happened and you didn't make it.

When we were in high school about 1 in every 5 students were skipping school to go to the protest, and after a shooting happened the school became somber, slow, and quiet. Everyone glad it wasn't us but to guilty too voice it because it was someone else's family that was lost and they matter just as much. For me specifically the guilt not only came from not being able to help, but also from the selfish feeling of elation that since it apparently had to happen it fortunately wasn't us this time.

Do any other american high schoolers have intense survivor’s guilt and trauma with school shootings even though they weren’t at your school?

Except when they are said to be complete because the people have given up on the story.

How To Avoid Playing Yourself

So today I got Batman ice cream at the shop. While eating the bat shaped chocolate I could not help but think what if every city/town that a superhero resides in has their own superhero ice cream. It would be great if the justice league came by each town and would try the ice cream. It would be best if everyone only had one ice cream, but one day they stop by Gotham and find out that Batman actually has like 24 different ice creams dedicated to him, and has whole Batman themed ice cream shops.

It would be even better if all Batmans' main villains would go and eat there once a month to talk about their villainy of the month or their plans so they stay out of each other's way.

Do the Mario dance
