The group spent the rest of the night answering questions, receiving check ups, and looking over their shoulders. Y/N had texted Ethan multiple times throughout the night, asking where he was. He didnât answer, which only made the rest of the group more suspicious. Chad did everything he could to comfort her. When he found out about what happened on the ladder, he was devastated. Devastated for Anika, and devastated for Y/N and not being able to protect her.Â
They were now sat in the back of an ambulance truck with Tara and Mindy. Tara had her arms wrapped around Mindy, soothing her tense shoulders, while Mindy stared at the ground. Y/N reached over to grab her hand and gently smiled at Mindy. Mindy only squeezed her hand. Out of the corner of his eye, Chad saw Ethan, who was ducking under the police tape.Â
âChad,â he slowly said, looking down the alley where Anikaâs body laid, covered.
Chad marched up to him and shoved him against a car roughly. Ethan let out a groan and steadied himself by holding onto Chadâs hands.Â
âWhere the fuck were you?â Chad yelled, pushing him harder.Â
The girls overheard them, and Y/N whispered something to Mindy before walking towards the two boys.Â
â-you know this,â Ethan finished as Y/N came up to them. âY/NâŚâ
Y/N didnât meet him in the eyes, instead she tugged on Chadâs arm. âChad, let it go, itâs not worth it.â Chad let go of Ethan, and Ethan hesitantly reached out for her.Â
âI didnât do it, Y/N, you know me,â Ethan pleaded. Chad dryly laughed and nodded his head sarcastically.Â
âDoes she know you?â He asked, and Ethan only shot a glare at him. Y/N told him to go in a mutter, and Chad protested. âIâm not leaving you.â
She sighed and turned back to Ethan, who was fuming, still glaring at Chad.Â
âHeâs right, I donât really know you.â She said sadly, reaching up to move a curl out of Ethanâs face. Ethan was deeply disappointed in her. I donât really know you, did those nights together mean nothing to her? Did he mean nothing to her?Â
âFuck that, you fucking know me, Y/N.â Ethan argued, placing his hands gently around her face. âDo you really think I would do this?âÂ
She didnât respond. She only glanced towards the others, who were watching them intently. Her eyes started to water, she really didnât know what to think. She cared about Ethan, but Chad was right, she really didnât know him that well. âI donât know,â she whispered.
Ethan looked at Chad, who was already staring at him. âWhat did he tell you?â He asked her.Â
âEthan,â
âI didnât have to tell her anything. You not being there, at both attacks, was enough.â Chad interrupted her.Â
âY/N look at me. You know me.âÂ
She stayed silent, pulled away from Ethan, with her arms hugging herself tightly as she stared at the dirt on the sidewalk. Chad chuckled, glancing between the two of them.Â
âJust because you two fucked, doesnât mean anything.âÂ
âChad!â Y/N yelled, lightly slapping his arm. Ethanâs cheeks reddened in embarrassment.Â
âYou wouldnât know, would you Chad?â Ethan asked, gritting through his teeth.Â
Chadâs jaw ticked, and Y/N had to physically hold Chadâs arm down from swinging at Ethan.Â
âAt least I could make her finish.â Chad spat.Â
Ethan looked at Y/N with a confused look. Her mouth was slightly opened as she gasped, and she only looked away. Ethan asked her what Chad meant, but she only shook her head. The silence between them was deafening, and all Ethan could do was hopelessly stare at her. She sniffed quietly, and started walking back to the ambulance. Ethan let his hands drop to his side as he watched her walk away. Hot tears rolled down his warm cheeks, but he hated himself for feeling this way. Hated that he didnât expect this; her to distance herself from him. He shouldâve expected this.Â
âSo,â Chad began, snapping Ethan out of his thoughts. He turned his head towards Chad. He had his arms crossed over his chest, with a smug expression on his face. He stepped closer to Ethan. âYou try anything with her, I swear to god, I will kill you. Ghostface or not.â
Ethanâs chest heaved up and down, staying silent. Chad gave him a fake smile, and he slapped his hand on Ethanâs shoulder. âNice talk, roomie.â
â
Ethanâs knee bounced up and down anxiously. He looked down at his phone, at his texts with Y/N, which were mostly one-sided lately.Â
Ethan
Please talk to me

Y/N.

Is Chad with you?
3:01 pm
He audibly groaned at the read notification. He looked over his shoulder to his nightstand, where his knife rested. His eyebrows were furrowed, and a scowl was apparent on his face.Â
He huffed as he stood up and reached for his knife. His hand shook as he held the blade. A familiar urge washed over him as he traced the blade with the back of his finger. He wanted to use it, use it on Chad. He wanted to see him suffer, choke on his blood as Ethan stood over him. He wanted to be the last thing Chad saw.Â
His phone dinged.Â
Y/N
Meet me at the diner
3:17 pm
He brought the knife with him, just as a precaution. He wouldnât use it on her, never. He sat patiently in a booth, their booth. A part of him felt guilty, guilty for loathing Chad as much as he did. He really was his only friend, well, used to be. But then his mind would wander back to her, and every ounce of guilt left his body.Â
When she walked in, he noticed her different clothes from earlier. She no longer wore her blood stained pajamas, but a pair of sweats and a long sleeve shirt.Â
He gave her a soft, welcoming smile as she sat down. She slouched in her seat, while Ethan leaned forward on the table. She didnât speak, so Ethan let his eyes wander around the restaurant, hoping to find a topic to talk about. It wasnât busy, it never was, but a few tables were occupied. A group of teens, probably in high school, sat in a booth, loudly cackling with each other. An elderly couple sat at a two seater, and Ethan softly smiled. The faint music played throughout the room, some 50s song Ethan couldnât name, and the noise of the milkshake machine filled Ethan with nostalgia.Â
âI got you a milkshake, chocolate.â Ethan said, turning back to Y/N. She only half-smiled and remained silent. The waiter stepped towards the tale, smiling as he set down the two milkshakes in front of them; one vanilla, one chocolate. She reached up for the milkshake and gently wrapped her lips around the straw.Â
âI get it if you donât trust me.â Ethan told her, taking a hold of his milkshake. She looked up at him for the first time since she sat down. âI wouldnât trust me either.â
She sighed, setting the milkshake down.
âIt wasnât me.â
âI know,â she rubbed her temple, sitting up. âI just, this whole thing sucks. Everyone is telling me not to trust you, but-â
âBut?â Ethan interrupted. He didnât give her enough credit, he shouldâve known she would be on his side.
âBut I do trust you. I donât know why, but I do.âÂ
He smiled, and he slid his hand over the table to grab hers. She softly grinned sadly and reciprocated. âWhat about Chad?â He asked, which made her smile drop.
âI didnât tell him, about coming here. He probably wouldâve killed you today. If I didnât step in.â She spoke cautiously, knowing the subject of Chad was sensitive around Ethan. The same with Chad.
âI donât care, as long as you wanna be with me.â Ethan shook his head. She nodded, smiling to herself. Ethan looked back at the elderly couple; Could that be them? Could they move past this Ghostface debacle? Grow old together? He looked back at the group of friends; Could she move on from her friendsâ deaths?
â
The two held hands as they walked down the street. She felt her heart swoon, distracted from the killings. He held her hand tightly, smiling that he could finally relax. They were headed to her apartment, she had suggested they bunker down for the night. Ethan said yes, hoping he could sneak away when she fell asleep to help his family. She was oblivious though, grinning widely at Ethan as they hopped onto the subway. They sat next to each other closely, legs touching. They both giggled as they looked on Y/Nâs phone, watching some random video.Â
They reached their stop, and Ethan pulled her up, smiling back at her. This was the happiest he had ever felt. He didnât care about avenging his brother, he didnât care about Chad, or his father, he only cared about her. He only wanted to care about her, he wanted to feel like a teenager again.Â
âWhat movie do you wanna watch?â She asked, clutching onto his arm as the night grew darker and colder.Â
âHm, something not horror.â Ethan slightly joked.Â
She made a sour face, still upset about the previous night. She dismissed his comment. âWhat about a romance movie?â He nodded, and he bent down to kiss her forehead. Something swirled in the back of Ethanâs mind, from earlier, with Chad.Â
At least I could make her finish.
Ethan had forgotten. His mind was so focused on seeing Y/N, he had completely forgotten about what Chad had said. He stopped walking, pulling her back to stop. She looked at him with a confused smile, but Ethan wasnât smiling.Â
âAbout earlier,âÂ
She lightly chuckled, awkwardly. âWe werenât talking about earlier,âÂ
âWhat did Chad mean?â He ignored her. He looked down at her, giving her a stern look when her face didnât show any seriousness.Â
âAbout?â She asked, but he knew she knew. She had a look in her eyes, a look that was full of hope. Hoping Ethan would drop the topic.Â
He did the opposite.
âAbout you?â She glanced away, acting as if he didnât know what he was talking about. âAbout making you,â he groaned, looking away. âMaking you finish.â
Her mouth made an âoâ shape, and she looked down. She didnât answer, for a moment. âLook, it didnât mean anything, okay?â She croaked out. She took both of his hands in his shakily.Â
âWhatâsâŚâitâ?â Ethan spat out.Â
She swallowed.Â
âChad and I, we-we slept together.â Ethan jerked his hands out of hers, stepping back to run his hands through his hair. He breathed heavily, and he let out a guttural groan. âIt was one time, and right after it happened, I felt awful.â
âWhen? When did it happen?âÂ
She let out a shaky breath. âA while ago, we werenâtâŚtogether yet.â She confessed. Ethan was still furious. How could she not tell him? Ethan looked like he was going to kill a man, he looked like he did kill a man. He hovered over her, completely covering her from others who passed them. âYouâre scaring me, Eth,â She nervously said, shakily reaching out to press her hands on his chest. It was no use, she knew he was stronger than her. She knew if he really wanted to knock her down, he could, and there was nothing she could do to stop him.Â
Ethan would always hate himself for what he had to do, but he knew he needed to do it.
â
Her head hurt, and her legs were sore. A soft groan escaped her lips as she slowly reached behind her head, touching the sensitive spot. She winced slightly at the touch, and she immediately retracted her hand. It was dark, a small glow coming from the crack of a door. Her eyes widened, seeing the room. The wallpaper peeled back a little from age, and dust covered the floor. She was laid on a mattress, which looked fairly new, and she noticed her blanket from her apartment was spread across her body.Â
âWhat the fuck,â She whispered, looking around. The door creaked open, and she couldnât make out the figureâs head that peaked through. Then the light came on, causing her to squint her eyes. There by the door, with his hand on the lightswitch, stood an anxious Ethan.
âS-Sorry,â He apologized timidly. He gave her a crooked smile, trying to ease her fear. She looked at him, her face completely pale. She didnât move from her spot. Ethanâs smile slowly faded as he turned to shut the door. He looked back at her, before walking over to sit down next to her.Â
âIâm sorry, you didnât really give me a choice.â He said, wiping a piece of hair from her forehead. She slightly flinched at his touch.Â
âY-You, hit me,â She cried, scooting away from him. His face fell, and he crawled towards her. He hovered over her, both hands on both sides of her. She looked terrified of him, and how could she not? He smiled gently down at her, and softly kissed her forehead.Â
âIâm so sorry baby, I promise Iâll never hurt you again. I just needed to get you here.âÂ
âWhere a-are we?â She asked, carefully looking down to see the growing tent in his pants. She whined as she saw. âPlease-â
He noticed her gaze, and he chuckled, leaning off of her and covering his boner with his hands. âSorry, I get excited, but itâs um, like one of my familyâs owned places.â He smiled. She pushed herself up against the wall, grateful he gave her space. He gently grabbed her hand and started to rub circles against her skin. She whimpered softly, before starting to cry. He frowned, wiping the tears that rolled against her cheeks. A loud noise came from outside the door, causing Y/N to whip her head towards the door, then to Ethan. He shushed her soothingly. âItâs probably my dad,âÂ
He stood up after kissing her on her cheek, and walked towards the door again. He looked back one more time, where she sat in the exact same position, shaking. A dark smile grew on his face, and before leaving, he said, âI love you.â to her. As the door shut and locked, Ethanâs excitement only grew. His pants became tighter as he heard her muffled cries come from under the door. Ethan quietly whimpered as he jerked off, forehead resting against the door. As he came in his hand, he smiled to himself, proud of himself for keeping her safe. Now all he had to do, was take care of Chad.
