Communication goes a long way. If you’re busy, say it. If you’re upset, express it. If you’re late, let people know. If you’re unsure, ask. It’s so simple but so important.
Writing letters while my friends are knitting, having tea and laughing together is a nice way to welcome autumn, and brings me some warmth as the weather grows colder.
Hypothetical dark academia novel in which instead of the crazed obsession being death, it is birth. Imagine a group of teenage girls drunk on the power they have to create life. They consider themselves gods. They drink wine, have bacchanals, and eat fruit in mossy caves on Sunday mornings. They gather every day before school to review the latest scientific discoveries over orange-peel tea. They write plays and raise their voices in excitement over new plot devices and marvel at the endless possibilities they have. The girls are avid feminists; they write essays and speeches about femininity and gender roles. They romanticize Renaissance women. They show up to school in all black, dress shirts rolled up to the elbow, hair in elaborate braids. Imagine the romances, the scheming, the poetry, the art, the speeches, the projects, the philosophical ramblings, the wide-eyed wonder and subsequent ambition.

holy fucking shit people simulated the 302 neurons in a worm’s brain with software, put it in a Lego robot and it behaves like a worm

Tbh as a bi woman I don’t need reminders that I’m “valid.” I know I’m bi, I’m not pretending, I know I’m “valid.” I don’t need reminders that I’m just as oppressed as the gays because that’s not true or helpful to anyone.
As a bi woman I need reminders that I’m not inherently more likely to cheat on a partner, that my capacity to love women isn’t lesser purely because I can find men attractive, that I’m not pretending to be a lesbian just because I like to dress a certain way or because I only want to date women, that I’m not deliberately misleading people about my orientation by being me, that I’m not destined to end up with a man purely because I could, that I’m not going to change my mind when I say that my ideal future is a reasonably sized house with a garden big enough for my wife and I to have a greenhouse and some chickens
That’s the kind of bi positivity I and other bi women need, not the empty uwu~ validation that seems to be everywhere
Hey Josie, do you know any comics similar to SnotGirl? I’ve read both volumes of Snotgirl, Papergirl, Motor Crush, and Heavy Vinyl. Do you have any suggestions? 💋
lumberjanes !! lots of lgbt (seriously, 2 or more lesbians, a trans girl, a nb kid too) main characters. it’s very warm and fun, and it reminds me of gravity falls honestly!! just a bunch of kids at camp in the woods, trying 2 earn their patches and defeating monsters along the way (& also pissing off their camp instructor)
bingo love! started out as a webcomic on tumblr, turned into a comic that now has physical copies out in stores. about two black wlw who come from disapproving families and have an amazing love story. talks about the hardships of dealing with your sexuality when you have children, too.
the backstagers ! more lgbt kids/teens, this time its more about mlm who are in theatre i’m pretty sure!! i havent actually read this one yet but i want to pick it up soon
moonstruck - again, i haven’t actually read this one and i probably won’t (not my style honestly!) but it is a favorite among wlw on here especially due to it’s witchy themes!! :)
giant days !!!!! ive been meaning 2 read this for FOREVER and it follows three girls who go to university and become best friends! i’m 90% sure theres some lgbt/wlw stuff in it too
none of these are really thematically like snotgirl, and you probably won’t find a lot more comics that are like it because snotgirl is pretty much one of a kind, but all of these comics r super duper good and follow the indie/weird trend.
also, in case you didn’t know, snotgirl #11 comes out on august 8th and it’s supposed to be very gay.
if you need any more recs the blogs @dailyindiecomics and @lgbtincomics are where i always find mine :00

Make-up can absolutely be artistic, but the difference between make-up and say, painting, is that artists aren’t expected to all paint the same standardised picture before leaving the house every day just to be treated with respect.
