I don’t know where this is from, but I found it in a thread on Facebook and I am CRYING
Organizing and cleaning life hacks for the neurodiverse and spoonie crowds.
No Diana, I’m not going to get better, so stop asking me if I’m better yet.
this is definitely not a new take, but the part of “chronic illness” that abled people can’t conceive of is the “chronic” part.
everyone’s been tired before. everyone’s been in pain before. everyone’s been nauseous before.
so when someone says that they have chronic pain or chronic fatigue or any other chronic illness symptom, an abled person is using the completely wrong frame of reference. they’re going “oh. it’s like that sports injury I had, but it lasts longer” without being able to wrap their heads around the fact that… it’s both nothing like that and also possibly lasts forever

Thanks to everyone for the well wishes for my wife. We’re home and she’s on some meds until her EEG this weekend. I’m actually on hold with her doctor now to figure out a plan med wise.
Yesterday was stressful but I think the time at home with no answers and a tiny med supply for possible seizures is scarier.
I know we’ll get through this and get some answers. Just need to keep moving forward.

We’re still in the waiting room. It’s insanely busy. And the tremors are getting worse. Yay for cold and flu season…
Wife and I are at the ER. She’s been having what her neurologist (our neurologist? We see the same guy) think are seizures. She’s been having small tremors off and on since February. We think it was caused by Paxil, which she rapid detoxed from under medical care a few months ago.
Today the whole body tremors/shaking are constant. With all her medical issues, I try to stay positive and strong. We do it for each other.
Hubby is at home getting cleaning done for the plumbing. It’s just another day in our life. It’s weird.
“The average US president has been charged with 1.54 felonies” factoid isn’t true. The average US President has been charged with 0 felonies. Donald trump, who has been charged with 71, is a statistical outlier and should not have been counted

Well this explains a lot. I started getting migraines at 7 as well.
Not so fun facts about my migraines:
15-20% of people get migraines
0.002% of people get Hemiplegic migraines
Sometimes I get regular run of the mill migraine. The kind where your head hurts and lights and sounds are horrible.
Sometimes the left side of my face goes numb and I can’t smile right
Sometimes my right arm gets weak
Sometimes both of my legs get weak and I can’t walk without a cane or walker
Sometimes I struggle to find words
Sometimes the vision in my right eye is just not quite right
Sometimes I get terrible vertigo
Sometimes I get super nauseated
Sometimes my teeth hurt
Sometimes I feel super hot/flushed
Sometimes I get all of the above
Autism is an independent risk for migraines
Autistic children are far more likely to experience migraines
One study showed that autistic people were twice as likely to experience migraine
I started getting migraines at age 7
My triggers are weather changes (I can usually tell it’s going to rain based on my aura) and hormonal changes, especially PMS
These are the two triggers that are impossible to avoid
Thank you all for listening to me complain while I lay in bed miserable because I can’t walk or smile or have the lights on.
