scavengers reign be like "here's a pretty shot. here's a funky creature. here's the most nauseating body horror known to man. here's a character going through unimaginable amounts of pathos. here's another funky creature"
Calvin and Hobbes was my freakin childhood man... I loved those books so much, I need to reread them all.
Calvin and Hobbes was magic--and sometimes a little creepy--when it embraced surrealism. And this was in the funny papers alongside goofiness like Garfield and The Family Circus.
THIS MEME IS SO GHOULCY

Lucy and the Ghoul really are Beauty and the Beast, huh? A handsome man who once lived in luxury is cursed to live as a hideous creature? Check. A beautiful curious woman who is warned not to be deceived by appearances? Check. Oh, and do you remember why Beauty left her small village, ventured into the dangerous forest and ended up in the Beast's castle? She had to find her dad.
It's such a modern spin on the trope. Because the Ghoul doesn't welcome her lavishly with food on the table and clothes in the closet. No, he puts her to the test. And yet she doesn't yield. If anything, her humanity shines through and illuminates his in turn.
Spooky scary skeletons πππ
Scavengerβs reign is incredible for so so many reasons, but what immediately made it stand apart from other tv was oddly enough, for me, the body horror(?). It is immaculately grotesque, horrifically beautiful at times- It destroys and changes the human form with care and precision that can only come from deep knowledge and frankly respect. Each animal feels tangible and real - from the skin and chitin to the bones and organs.
uhh me and who? (platonically)

This is exactly how I'd imagine Charlie looks as a human
