This Ramadan make sure you’re not breaking your fast with the taste of apartheid. All you need to do is check the label to avoid buying dates from apartheid Israel. This includes dates labelled from Israel, the West Bank and the Jordan Valley or if the country of origin is not shown. Ramadan is a time of reflection and self-improvement. During this month we are more conscious of our actions and how they affect others. Israel is the world’s largest producer of Medjoul dates. Let's be conscious of not buying dates that support Israel’s illegal occupation of Palestine and apartheid regime. * Major UK supermarkets like ASDA, Tesco, Iceland and Waitrose all sell dates from apartheid Israel as well as local grocery stores * The UK is the second-biggest importer of Israeli dates in Europe 50% of Israeli dates are exported to Europe, where the UK, Netherlands, France, Spain and Italy import huge quantities of the dried fruit. In 2020 the UK imported over 3000 tonnes of dates from Israel, worth roughly 7.5 million pounds. There are two peaks of date consumption in Europe. One is during the month of Ramadan and the other is during New Year’s Eve and Christmas. Boycotting Israeli dates in Ramadan is a concerted community effort that can show we are not powerless. It would be brilliant to see all Israeli dates still left on shelves across the UK and Europe at the end of the blessed month. This would reflect our strength as a community to stand together with a very important message: We will not support the oppression of Palestinians and we will not be complicit in Israeli apartheid. So, this Ramadan #CheckTheLabel and boycott Israeli dates.
With Ramadan approaching, please consider sharing!
If you're in the UK, they also have leaflets available for order on their webpage. These tie into their upcoming campaign #CheckTheLabel, with a national day of action on the 16th of February.
Again, check their webpage for more info.

The Human Rights Campaign (the largest lgbtq+ political lobbying and advocacy group) is sponsored by an Israeli weapons supplier
Fakegyllenhalal explains in this tiktok why America's largest official queer support group has been silent in the ongoing genocide.
She has a petition linked in her bio (<- put over here) to pressure queer advocating groups to call for an immediate and permanent ceasefire in Gaza (and eventual occupation free Palestine. Not just for queer Palestinians, but ALL Palestinians.
Taken from the Queers for Liberation change petition;
"We urgently call upon major LGBTQIA2S+ organizations to abandon their silence and "neutrality," imploring them to publicly advocate for an immediate and permanent ceasefire in Gaza. We urge prominent LGBTQIA2S+ civil rights organizations to align with their mission statements. Offering constructive criticism is fueled by our genuine concern, emphasizing our commitment to ensuring active fulfillment of LGBTQIA2S+ equality goals through accountability."
It also denounces Israel's islamaphobic and blatantly wrong statements of the dangers and harm lgbtq+ people face in Palestine and the Middle East as a whole, and the use of pink washing by the iof and zionist occupation.
Lgbtq+ and queer people, including myself, REFUSE to be used as a tool for a genocidal regime.

What did you do while the children of Gaza were dying?
I argued with their killers.
What did you say?
I said that the innocent deserve innocence. That the sound of laughter is better than nightmares, and briefer. That the cost of killing may be higher than the price of dying.
Did they listen?
Do killers ever listen? They are deafened by their weapons’ drone and by the grate of their own voices raging, denying.
Why were they angry?
They said that they needed to feel safe.
Safe from the children?
They said there are no children in Gaza, only young combatants.
And the babies?
They said they are little snakes that will grow, and it is better to kill them in their nests.
And what of the teachers? The singers? The artists? The fathers? The mothers?
They said that all who live there are terrorists. And as for the mothers, they said it is they who bear the little snakes.
Did your protestations do any good?
No. I lost my breath, I lost my words, I lost my heart. But had I not argued, I would have lost my soul.
Did any children survive?
In body, yes. In spirit, it is not sure.
The children who lived, what will become of them?
Their eyes will sear holes in the night sky. Remember this when you look at the stars:
that it is the burning eyes of Gaza’s children that hold your gaze.
