Oh my god Chip is just a kid who never had a chance to grow up so he's still acting like a kid in an adult world, ie not expecting consequences for his behaviour, being impulsive and disrespectful towards others ect, because he's still hoping for the softness of childhood where consequences are never more serious than a slap on the wrist and his behaviour is met with indulgent laughter from the crew of the Black Rose Pirates instead of hatred and aggression. He hasn't ever shifted his veiw of himself from being a little kid who should be forgiven and let off easy because if he acknowledged that he wasn't "the kid of the crew" anymore he'd be acknowledging that the crew was gone. Oh my god.
