“A Light In The Dark” Enchantment

An enchantment to ignite hope and inspire strength in a time of darkness and need inspired by a dream I had.

What You’ll Need

Red, white, yellow, and green candles

A piece of jewelry (that’s water safe) or wearable item (that’s water safe) that has sentimental value to you

A large bowl

Mortar and pestle

A bay leaf

Aloe

Fennel

Allspice

Lemon or lemon juice

Rosewater

Full moon water

What To Do

Before you even set up for the ritual make sure your aloe and fennel are diced into small pieces. Careful when dicing so you don’t cut yourself, you don’t need blood for this spell.

Place your candles in a square around you and place your bowl in the center.

Light your candles.

Add your bay leaf to your mortar first and then your diced aloe and fennel.

Proceed to muddle the bay, fennel, and aloe together until they have become a finely mixed together.

Sprinkle the allspice into the bottom of the bowl.

Add the mix from the mortar into the bowl, press and smooth the mix with your pestle till it’s evened out.

Now add half your moon water.

Then add your jewelry, wearable item into the bowl.

Pour half of the rosewater in now.

Take your candles two at a time, let their wax drip in and say/think “In this dark I seek my light, get me through this darkest night.” until all of the four candles’ waxes have dripped into the bowl.

Put your candles back where you had them.

Take your finger now and circle the water clockwise and while doing it say/think “Lend me strength, lend me hope, lend me power in this darkest hour.” until you stop stirring.

Blow out your candles, dispose of the bowl’s contents, dry off your jewelry/item and wear it.

How to Read a Synastry Chart

Upon first looking at a synastry chart, there may be an initial sense of confusion as to how to best interpret the intertwining planetary alignments from one person to another.

Essentially aspects between another persons planet shows the dynamics as to how one aspect of your personality interacts with another’s.

Reading a synastry chart applies the same method as reading a natal chart, however you must remember you are looking at one persons planet interacting with another, therefore each person playing a role in the expression of their planet in aspect.

Example: If Person A’s Moon was Trine Person B’s Venus, one person would be expressing their caring, vulnerable and hurting side, while the other person would be expressing their loving, appreciative and giving side.

The type of aspect will dictate how your personal expression of a part of your personality (ie. sign on a planet) interacts and is revived by another.

Conjunctions

Here two planetary energies express themselves in the same way (unless its an out of sign conjunction). Here there is a natural and mutual understanding of how each person expresses a part of their personality, though the planets involved and how each persons own planet is aspects in their own chart will dictate how well the nature of the conjunction plays out.

Trines

Here two planetary energies flow effortlessly together, and expressions of one another’s personality is received well due to the easy and mutual understanding. Each person will understand the other persons way of expressing and doing things, as well as provide a compatible variation on how they give to another, in a way they appreciate.

Sextiles

Sextiles provide much more excitement than Trines, as the modality and element is different, however, the elemental compatibility provides a contrast in which stimulates the other. In affect, they almost act like easy squares by where the friction builds on the other, however the energy is much more friendly and playful. Sextiles in synastry can challenge the partner to expand on a part of their own personality and find a way to engage that part of them more in themselves and in the relationship.

Squares

Squares are INCREDIBLY common in synastry.

Why?

The nature of squares provide a challenge, a chance to improve and work hard to find a solution. The entire universal PURPOSE of relationships is to experience oneself through interaction with another, and square provide and opportunity to bring out parts of the personality that may lay dormant. This is how we learn what we want and what we don’t want in relationships.

Squares upon first interaction are highly magnetic, as the natural energetic friction causes a sense of challenge, creating a desire to experience a certain part of the self.

However it is true to say that square are not always the most pleasant aspect in synastry, as they draw on a sense of desire NOT compatibility - any relationship that contains squares will ultimately create a sense of growth, and its ones ability to resolve conflict or walk away with a sense of knowing who they are and what they want is what makes square an integral part to relationships.

Oppostions

Oppositions in synastry act quite differently than within the natal chart, as the sense of ‘internal spinning form one part of the personality to the other’ is manifested within two people in the relationship. Like the conjunction, oppositions can either be beneficial or detrimental depending on the planets involved, the condition of the individuals planet, and the maturity and ability to make a compromise between two people.

The opposition in synastry can provide an excellent contrast as to looking at ones ‘shadow side’, and often these two can compliment each other by having a similar perspective, though taking a different approach.

If not handled well, the contrast can be TOO different from one another, causing a sense of separation due to the sense of ‘foreign’ expression of another. If both people are mature, a compromise can be made, if not, there may be a natural need for separation as each others needs can not be met by the other.

Inconjunction/Quincunx

This is perhaps the most difficult aspect in synastry. The Inconjucntion acts much like an opposition, though with the opposition, the element and modality compatibly makes it possible to find a compromise by understand the others mutual perspective on things. With the inconjucntion, signs are aspected with incompatible elements and modalities, therefore having no common ground on the way they act. This often results in the inability to understand one another from there perspective. They may have to ‘take turns’ at expressing parts of their personality to one another, or when one acts, the other person fails to react. The inability to understand one another can cause a sense of disappointment as each persons efforts and expressions are not being recognised by the other.

The final part to reading a synastry chart will be understood by looking at the house area each persons planet falls into, making the birth time crucial to interpretation.

When a planet falls into another persons house, an aspect and energy of one person is being expressed in the life area of another. This creates a sense in the house person whereby they energetically sense a persons certain energy being expressed in a certain house, and the aspects will determine whether it will be positively or negatively received.

A planet falling into another’s house stimulates that area of life for them.

Example: A planet falling into someones 11th house will stimulate the feeling that this person will fulfil their need for friendship.

The planet person will also feel their personal energies being projected into that life area of the house person, but will ultimately be more focused on the way the other person makes THEM feel rather than where they are investing their personal energies into another.

This is why aspects are highly important in synastry, as there needs to be a mutable reception by both people in order for exchange of feelings.

Example: Person A’s Venus may fall into Person B’s 7th house. Person B may feel the Venus person can fulfil their relationship desires, however, Person A’s Venus is afflicted by other planets in synastry, and they in fact aren’t attracted to Person B at all - perhaps far from that.

It is incredibly important to NEVER single out one ‘positive’ aspect in synastry, especially as a need for personal validation. If the relationship is meant to be challenging or not to form at all, it will be so, therefore a high level of objectiveness is needed when reading your own synastry chart with your own love interest.

Problems can be resolved, and other times they can not, the aim of relationships is personal growth, and it’s always best to act for your own highest good and seek a relationship thats challenging AND fulfilling.

You’re not a dumbass! Wanting to learn is admirable most people in our society don’t reach out to make themselves aware and you did! I think that’s pretty intelligent to me :)

As for preferable aspects? Eh honestly any are preferable. Some aspects are hard I won’t lie. Some suck and some are a bit to overwhelming but all aspects are like this even text book good ones :/ it really is about the person and how they use the energy they’ve been given! I’ve met a Leo who only had squares to most of his planets and he was one of the most charming and competent men I’ve met; did he have issues? Of course but he made the best with what he had been given.

As for major aspects id say anything that hits your personal planets via trine/conjunct/square/inconjcunt are biggies. And inconjcunts are felt heavier when they are within 0-3 orbs Conjuncts id go with 0-8 orbs trine id go anywhere from 0-5 to 0-7 and squares? I’d say 0-8 orbs as well since they’re a heavy tension that’s super hard to ignore.

•moon aspects to generational planets can make emotions(heavier) tend to place an inherited maturity about them and can make it harder to relate emotionally to a younger audience of people.•moon aspects to personal planets can lead to issues with emotional maturity and may have themes that require growth and or acceptance of past trauma or hurt that hinders the expression of said planet/while positive ones show an easier harmonious flow but still show something to be “grown” into. •sun aspects to generational planets tend to create an older touch to an individual and can show a tug between being free and the burden of responsibility. Reality vs creativity. •sun aspects to personal planets tend to have an easier flow and even in hard aspects can still show an ease with connecting ones playful ego with their creativity.•Venus in aspect to generational planets tends to crave a more mature and stable love something that last and tend to unconsciously be drawn to healing their past karma and may constantly run into lovers from their past lives. Love life’s are filled with a fated feeling •Venus in aspect to personal planets tend to be more youthful in love! Love isn’t seen to heavily here and is more of a happier and more experimental thing. There can be many relationships and may tend to jump from relationship to relationship frequently(not in a promiscuous way) but you tend to be learners and have fresh karma in this life to experience love in a freer way! You’re meeting your lovers for the first time.•mars in aspect to generational aspect tend to have ancient instincts(your reactions seem based on previous experience) can have hidden talents and inner prowesses unknown to you. Sex is seen as a more serious act and is taken on with caution good or bad aspect. Can be a seriousness with the physical body and may tend to be skilled beyond measure in the talents associated with your mars sign. I’ve noticed many to be secretly very physically capable in martial arts or combat/medicine/surgery and so on•mars in an aspect to personal planets can be erratic/impulsive and spontaneous! Emotions can get in the way of emotions and passionate can overrun the mind. Things are done and felt instead of thought. Can be more inclined to make your own destiny and carve out your own place in the world. Unnerving and unwavering souls. Willful and may take some time to see the importance of sex. May also be very electric.

Aspects between generational aspects can be spanned across those born in the years near you and this can be the same with personal aspects so at times a specific energy of an aspect can be prevalent.

Ex: my generation is Pluto in Sagittarius so many Aries/Leo/Sagittarius have their sun in aspect to Pluto and tend to be intense and more mysterious then Aries/Leo and Sagittarius whom may have come before. And pluto is trine my Aries moon and many people in my generation whom have fire signs in a planet will have Plutos energy surrounding them.

Lastly harsh aspects Really anything as I said can he considers this but I think ones that require the most out of a person are

•Venus square Saturn:a heavy burden in love and can show struggles with self worth and opening up to another soul. These people come into this life with the burden of loss and can project this fear on those whom they love. May be cold and aloof to those they love but cheery and easy going to those whom they don’t which can confuse their lovers(why do you act like you hate me) need to learn how to let their walks down and trust. Need to learn how to not only love another but allow themselves to be loved.

•Uranus in the 8th: these natives unlike most 8th house placements don’t have to learn how to separate from their feelings they actually need to learn how to align with them. Their can be complete emotional dissociation and can be hard to sympathize and or show compassion to their feelings. Tend to isolate themselves from pain and can grow numb due to pushing emotions to the wayside. One of the most emotionally receptive and sensitive people but tend to struggle showing this energy. Need to learn to cry. Need to learn to feel and allow themselves to feel. Don’t just be curious about your emotions-experience them. Stop looking at yourself from the outside looking in.

•sun/moon/Venus/ in the 10th house. There is a heavy focus on the image and structure and how it relates to the planets involved. The ego(sun) can be neglected for the sake of being seen as above and “formidable” when in reality the nature could feel robbed of creative and joy in life at the expense of others. The emotions can be cast away(moon) for the sake of being seen as “stable” for the sake of being able to help others at the cost of your own needs. The affections can be seen as a burden(Venus) at the expense of being seen as"peaceful and welcoming" for the sake of making everyone else feel loved and looked after at the expense of your own fragile heart.

Fire placements in water houses: can dilute the more passionate and impulsive urges of the fire and can create a mists. This can cause confusion in ones motives and make it hard in terms of determining ones direction as the passions sometimes don’t lie in the place of the emotions in question. Cancer mars in Aries 4th house. Passive aggressive nature but inately seeks to be blunt and assert their will but may not know how to do so.

•air and water combos: feeling vs thinking can create emotional gaps and loss of time. Can be trapped in their heads and be conflicted and indecisive. Theirs a tendency to be emotionally unavailable and superficial at the expense of showcasing there more deeper emotions but this is mainly because they tend to be overwhelmed by the job of Doing so. Emotions are extremely turbulent and can be like a whirlwind beneath the surface.

•harsh aspects to Neptune and Neptune in the 8th/12th house prominence. Can show a cloudy energy and can be tough to really define whom they are and what that means to them. The ghost of the world and if not properly aware of their tendencies they can get lost in the “play” so to speak they’ll begin to spend their lives being the worlds mirror and be a breeding ground for people’s projected issues and problems. Can have bad coping mechanisms and be lost in their own worlds. These people aren’t completely alive and tend to drift between the spirit world and our reality and tend to feel things no one else can. Because of this they feel alienated. Have fragile souls and must be more watchful then most whom they give their energy too.(casual sex is an big fat no for these people and this can actually be dangerous)

•lastly I think Virgo moon/Capricorn moon/Scorpio moon/Aquarius moons(ic as well)are the toughest positions Virgo-due to the fluctuating mind that never stops running and the emotions that are rooted in scrutiny of not only others but themselves(they emotionally never see themselves to be up to par) can be extremely sensitive and giving and desire nothing more then to be of service and can feel worthless when they’re not.( please ease up on yourselves! You’re so beautiful and so sweet and you just realize that if someone doesn’t want to be helped it’s not your fault and it’s also not your duty to wipe everyone’s ass)

Capricorn- due to the rigid emotions. The emotions that never get to see the light of day. The late nights of tears and the emotional deprivation. These natives can be so hard on themselves and really try to remain emotionally stable at all cost. Because of this they often grow up insanely quick and can have a harsh outlook on the more tender sides of sentimentality. (It’s okay to smile and not feel so guilty about it! It’s okay to want to be touched and be held! Saturn isn’t watching I promise)

Scorpio-due to the powerful emotions that engulf them in the iciest and most silent cool. The rigidness of their hearts and the unforgiving and un relenting purging. The systematic trials they endure to protect themselves from the world they deem dangerous. The intense emotions and the black or white decisions.(please open your hearts to another-please don’t expect anything in return. Not everything in this world has a price. And your emotions shouldn’t have to feel like a trade)

Aquarius-due to the confusion. The uncertainty and the limitless pit of emotional insecurity. The alienation from your own sadness and your own emotional state. The longing to connect and understand the more sympathetic and sensitive aspects of human nature. Endlessly engaged and curious but painfully unable to express it yourself. The harsh analyzation and deprivation of feel. Saturn and Uranus reek havoc here and as amazing as I think Aquarius moons are I do believe they have a wildly difficult emotional landscape that no mere soul could dare to understand.

Lastly I think Lilith in the 4th house and 12th house are pretty harsh

Lilith in the 4th can point to a darker emotional state and show a inability to connect to family on an emotional level. May never really feel at home and grow up in a Plutonian and Lilith themed house hold(women in the family can be overbearing and may have experienced rape/domination/rebirth/venom) in their lives and may tend to have toxic relationships with men that rub of on you. Can be emotionally powerful but can also be emotionally overwhelming for others! The great thing here though is marriages usually end up great and husbands/spouses are extremely loyal and loving and these natives are great parents but can be poisonous and domineering and may even detach from the child once they start growing(since there is a fear here of being left behind) can have a mother hen energy and when these individuals are upset or going through something the family and lovers and even friends of these people will also be in a sour mood. As is the effect here your emotions are strong and can can affect the surroundings good or bad.

Lilith in the 12th house natives can be drifters and spirits whom wander then human world. They are immensely sensitive and are so fragile and because of this due to the nature of the world we live in and(it’s not exactly perfect :/) these individuals tend to shut of their more sensitive nature and can be practically aloof and disengaged from the emotional experience of life and can lose themselves in their minds which they tend to use to cope with this harsh world. Sex can be used to escape and become an addiction here. Unhealthy relationships can become addicting. Drugs can become addicting.unhealthy coping can become addicting. They are easily influenced and can be easily seduced into bad situations. Their psyche is Situational based and they tend to be most themselves when they are with someone whom they trust or feel safe with(family/lover/friends or themselves) and at times they never really feel safe. The positive here is they are otherworldly and capable of reaching the most divine of feelings and energies once they open themselves to it. Tend to struggle with “holding on”

Overall no aspects are bad but there are some like I mentioned above that just need to have more care taken by the individual!

Moon in Fire signs People with their Moon in Fire signs (Aries, Leo and Sagittarius) feel things strongly, dramatically and aggressively. They are quick to react and usually hold nothing back. You’ll know what they’re feeling because they make it obvious that somethings up. More so than any other element, the Fire Moon signs feel things passionately. They are quick to anger and can ruffle up a few feathers in the process. But more than anything the Fire Moon signs are trail-blazers and highly energetic. They make the best out of any situation because of their optimism and enthusiasm.  

Moon in Earth signs People with their Moon in Earth signs (Taurus, Virgo and Capricorn) feel things in an impacting way, they just don’t show it. The Earth Moon signs usually aim for being responsible and having things under control. More than anything, they crave security and stability in their lives. It is important for the Earth sign Moon to have a set routine because through this they can be highly productive and get things done fast. They don’t do well in chaotic situations because of how things spiral out of control, but somehow they still manage to remain calm and grounded.  

Moon in Air signs People with their Moon in Air signs (Gemini, Libra and Aquarius) feel things in a deep manner, but they don’t show this side of them; they detach. Air Moon signs would much rather process their emotions completely before they react. They want to have a reason as to why they’re feeling that way. The Air Moon signs love engaging in conversations and have a thirst for knowledge. Socializing is something that they enjoy doing and are exceptionally good at it. Everyone seems to love the enthusiasm, laid back nature of the Air sign Moon!

Moon in Water signs People with their Moon in Water signs (Cancer, Scorpio and Pisces) feel things for what they are but with a lasting impact. Of all the Moon signs, it’s none other than the Water Moon signs that feel things deeply, in an almost all-consuming way. They are passionate and sentimental, highly sensitive to their surroundings and the feelings of others. The Water Moon signs are blessed with intuition and more than anyone; they are usually empaths. However, since they feel things so strongly, they should be careful of becoming too overwhelmed and lost in their own feelings.

And then most importantly, to further advance your studies I highly recommend purchasing books. Astrology books are not that expensive when you buy them from places like ebay or thriftbooks. I think instead of listing specific books, which can become an excessively long list, I will say buying books from authors like Liz Greene, Howard Sasportas, Linda Goodman, Alice Bailey, Alan Oken, Isabel Hickey, Steven Forrest, Dane Rudhyar, Alice O. Howell, The Parkers (Derek/Julia Parker) and anything on Jungian Astrology or esoteric astrology would benefit and interest you v much.

I think finally, astrology requires a lot of observing but also socializing…Reading about placements will not give you firsthand experiences on how they manifest in others. Nor does simply observing someone allow you to understand expressions of certain placements when you are not interacting. Read and then apply what you’ve read in the real world, you know?

As for how I learned, when I was a little girl my first official astrology book ever was The Secret Language of Birthdays by Gary Goldschneider. Its a cool book, one of my favorites. It explains misunderstood concepts like cusp signs, discusses the archetypes and goes through every single birthday along with other interesting things, such as each birthday is assigned a tarot card, numerology, keywords, stones/gems and more~ I think since the internet is such an open resource you should start online and gradually move onto books :-) hope this helps ♡..
