Considering that Mahiru was always described as this military genius who could anticipate her opponent’s next movement in Cat16 it looks quite forced how Kagami sidelines her in Vampire Reign so the plot can flow in the direction he wants. Like, looking at her feats in the LNs, there is no way she could have been outsmarted by Yuu and Mika when they fooled the squad when going to a different place for food supplies while using an illusion as a decoy.
