#Grogu snuggling up to Din (▰˘◡˘▰)
#space dads bending down to talk to their kids
And how y’all need to stop.
Things like the daddy talk and stuff like that need to stay in the fandom and not thrown in his face (although even within the fandom it’s getting old and out of hand with the grossness of the comments and “jokes”). Pedro is clearly uncomfortable with it at this point and it’s disrespectful to just boil him down to a gross fetish. He’s a talented actor and a good person and he doesn’t deserve this. He should be asked about his work and what his representation means in press tours and interviews, not “how does it feel to be so daddy” and shit like that.
And while there’s nothing wrong with thirsting and finding him attractive and writing a lot of smut about his characters, too many in the fandom are taking it wayyyy too far with the “daddy” and “papi” and “I wanna be his controversially young gf” and talking about him sexually and so on. Especially when commenting his Instagram where he could potentially see it or on Twitter where interviewers are now pulling quotes from.
Too many of y’all are talking about him like he’s not even a person but a fetish for y’all. The things I’m seeing in Twitter and tik tok and other places are downright fetishization and hyper sexualizing a Latino man. It’s gotten too far to the point where it’s uncomfortable to see and not to mention some of the things y’all say are so gross.
It also deserves pointing out that a lot of this is being done by white girls toward a Latino man. White people have a history of hyper sexualizing Latinos and y’all are just feeding into it more and more. It’s fetishization and it needs to stop. Shit like “papi” “he’s my Latino lover” “my spicy Latino man” “my Latino fantasy” “it’s so hot when he speaks Spanish oh speak sexy Spanish to me” anything similar all need to stop.
And for the love of everything PLEASE stop talking about his genitals. It’s disgusting and invasive! You wouldn’t want a stranger talking about your junk, so don’t do it to someone else! Because at the end of the day you don’t l is him and he doesn’t know you. Some of the comments I see are straight up sexual harassment.
Being Latine myself I’ve been on the other side of the hyper sexualization and dehumanizing comments since I was like 13. It sucks and it doesn’t make a person feel good. It’s not a compliment. So just stop with the gross and derogatory comments.
And just to reiterate the point, here are some other anonymous comments from other latines that I’ve spoken to about this about how bad it is to fetishize and over sexualize:
for me… it’s dehumanizing seeing how easy it is for people to just slap a label on us [latinos]. We are already seen as sex symbols just for existing and then to see people take it to the extreme posting *publicly* about his body party and body fluids [spit, cum, etc] it’s getting very uncomfortable.
Saying as someone who's bothered and disgusted by the sexualization that's being done with Pedro AND as someone that had to deal with such sexualization/dehumanization since a young age (still nowadays I have to deal with)
"We're human beings, our existence is not something to fullfill your fetiches or any other weird fantazies"
it makes me feel gross and reminds me of being sexualized when I was a child, just because I was speaking Spanish.
Have been practicing lately, this is what I can do so far.
