Why do conservatives complain about the price of gas and groceries?

If you don't like the price of gas and groceries, just stop buying gas and groceries.

What's that? That's horrible advice?

Well, that's the exact advice you've been giving to other struggling people since the beginning of time. You've been nonchalantly defending the free market whenever it was harmful to others. You convinced yourself that those who are struggling deserve it until you became one. Then, you suddenly decided that it must be some deep state conspiracy instead of accepting that what's happening to you is exactly what you dismissed when it was happening to others.

Palestine fundraisers with easily-achievable goals

By "easily-achievable", I mean in the 50-60K range and below. Once again, drawing from my pinned list of fundraisers, which have all been vetted by Palestinians on Tumblr (check that post for the proof next to each family name). Hard pill to swallow, maybe, but sometimes you are the problem. You may not have been initially, but people around you can only have so much endurance for understanding why you're "like that" and how you got to where you are now. Even if you were the one who was victimized, hurt, or abused to begin with, your behavior affects those around you. There's a point at which personal responsibility needs to kick in, or you will become toxic. You can become toxic even if you never become an abuser yourself. If other people are constantly having to help dig you out of the holes you made but you keep slapping their hands away, you cannot expect them to have an indefinite amount of patience and energy to keep trying. If you're not putting in the work to recover from what damaged you; if everyone else in your life is consistently the only one making a real effort to effect change for you--you're the problem.

I love how the first post I see when I come on here after Maggie Smirh died is someone demanding no one buys HP merch in response to her death.

I counter by saying buy all the HP merch you would like, no one has the right to tell you what to do with your money.

Also, by the way, choosing not to buy that McGonagall memorabilia is not going to shut HP down.

They’re doing Hogwarts Legacy 2, a ten year long HBO show, Harry Potter Universal studios is packed shoulder to shoulder, and HP has entire sections, not areas, SECTIONS, at my local Barnes and Noble and 5 below.

HP ain’t going anywhere.

And for the folks out there who disagree with JKR’s views, buying her stuff doesn’t make you anymore of a hypcrite than walking around with that Apple device or Starbucks cup while claiming to be anti-capitalist/anti-consumerism.

Taking care of your kid(s)

Ironing his clothes (why does that sound so hot?)

Gardening

Mowing the lawn

Putting furniture together

Learning how to crochet (I said what I said)

Barbeques and bonfires

Camping out in the living room or backyard

There are so many other options I'm forgetting, I'm sure. Let's discuss.
