Knifecase Week Day 1: Realization

AHHHH I still have finals this week that I need to study for, but I am DETERMINED to complete these prompts!!!

Anyways it's about time I got around to drawing this scene. It's really important to me that Knife was more scared of dying that Suitcase was, so I tried to incorporate that :)

YAAAAAY THIS TOOK ME FOREVER, I'M SORRY IT'S NOT COLORED. I'm not super proud of the way this was written tbh, but y'all seemed to like part 1 so i hope this lives up to it. SORRY IT TOOK SO LONG TO POST. While I love angsty things, I think the sweet stuff is almost just as important.

Objects age. They earn marks and cracks, their colours fade over time, they yellow and lose that pristine look they had when they were new.

This slowly happens to the chars on II. For a while it's unnoticable, but they can't be revived brand new anymore so they change. Slow, but they change over the years.

Paintbrushes bristles become a bit chaotic, they stick out at angles and they gave up trying to fix it years ago. Suitcase's colours fade. OJ earns little marks and chips in his glass. Characters like the cherries and Apple don't rot but their leaves wilt. Evidence of life, I guess. They finally get to actually live.

Of course, Knife never changes. While the gold of suitcase has faded more into a colour of sand there are no dents in Knife's metal. No scratches on the handle. That's it for him. He doesn't know how to feel about it.

spoiler warning for II s2 btw and me ranting a bit too much

ok so let me get this off my chest first. that ending was so bittersweet and perfectly fit the end. I love how it's not a generic ending of everyone loves eachother now wowza, and how it feels more human and realistic. Not like Pickle would just say 'it's okay' to Taco and become besties again, or how Suitcase and Nickle would mend thei relationship; it just feels so right that they still have bumpy relationships.

And oh my god, I feel so bamboolzed about Box being...you know, sentient. And how smoothly it went with the ending, like it fit perfectly! Also mandatory entrance of Paper and OJ being love birds, fight me otp ever since I was 6 like look at this right here. The blush your honor. The blush.

I also love Knife in this episode. Like, that final act of saving Marshmellow was such a good act for his character. And I love how he hasn't became all soft, and how he still has that edge to him-like the character development is so good. Also how well Suitcase and Knife bond, it's so sweet dude.

nah cause why'd they do MePad so dirty like that as well 😭😭 nah cause it was such a good ending for his character but you cant help but *insert frustrating noises here*. Also MePhone leaving bro...smartest thing he's ever done I applaude 👏👏👏

also mandatory mention of Cobs being like, the best villian ever. He evil for the sake of being evil, and we love it. Also turning into popcorn is so demure and elegant, what a popping exit! also love his voice actor like the voice fits SO WELL but look at this dude 😭bro is not making a comeback

also want to mention how long this guy took to kill MePhone with the fucking branded sword this guy made👏👏👏 your slow ass actually is usual well done Cobs

ngl i missed the majority of s3 and only got back into II when season 2 got continued magically, but I still really liked this ending. Personally, I wouldn't be mad if they didn't make a season 4, cause I'm pretty content with this ending!

comic about taco leaving ii for good (and respecting mic's and pickle's wishes via leaving their lifes) and actually moving on, and knife helps her realize that she needs to do that.

He reassures her. Although, from his expression, it's clear that he's hesitant, trying to accept that he's probably not getting back.

She's just realised. The sudden fear coming back once again.

And she starts to panic. What if they never find a way back? What if he's stuck like this forever? She doesn't want him to go...

Although, Knife has seen this happen to her so, so many times.

And does the one thing that he knows helped.

He reaches for her. He's desperate for her to not be in such distress, not because of her thoughts, and certainly not because of him.

Unfortunately...

He phases through her. Knife is so focused on comforting her in her time of distress that he instinctively moves to comfort her. And sadly...it doesn't work. Not this time...

Suitcase looks up, noticing his hand closer to her.

And smiles.

Suitcase gives him a smile. A smile to know that she does care. A smile to give Knife. A smile to show him that, despite everything. Knife is still with her. And she is okay with that... If Knife was a ghost now, she would just have to work a little harder to be with him still. And that's okay...

They're together still. And she wouldn't have it any other way....
