he is literally signing away years of progress, soon enough the civil rights acts will probably be gone too
I know it’s not much in the face of everything but I have been finding hope & resilience in palestinian poetry these past few weeks and I created a google drive file of poetry collections by palestinian poets that I will keep updating as I keep on reading. I also recommend checking out @fiercynn’s palestinian poets series for more poets + poetry available online
I don't know if people genuinely aren't putting 2 and 2 together
But when Trump is arguing that native americans "don't have birthright to live here" and is trying to "deport them"
It means we go in the same camps immigrants are going in
Mexico and other countries aren't taking the immigrants the US is "trying" to send back, he's going to kill us
The US is making death camps, and they are taking everyone they find undesirable to send there
Natives count as the undesirables too.
5 years ago today, 26-year-old #BreonnaTaylor was killed by Louisville Metro Police after they forced entry into her home.
The killing of Taylor by police officers and the initial lack of charges against the LMPD officers involved sparked numerous protests with supporters adopting the motto #SayHerName. These protests against police brutality and racism were concurrent with the ongoing Black Lives Matter movement across the United States.
Before her untimely death, Taylor was an award-winning ER medical technician who dedicated her life to helping others and aspired to become a nurse.
Taylor's family was awarded $12 million in compensation and was given a promise the LMPD would reform its practices.
'“Questions haunt our minds, but no one gives us answers,” 29-year-old Mahmoud Sharfi told me. “Where will we live? There are no homes left in Gaza. Are we supposed to live in tents forever? What about our future? What about our children — where will they study?” (...) The main challenge in Gaza now is to survive the days ahead: how will we live without homes, without resources, and without the basic necessities of life? How will we carry on without our families?'
before nader & his family went back north, we spoke about what comes after. like so many, it was unfathomable to him that he would ever leave his home in gaza. but the wholesale destruction of every aspect of their life, and uncountable losses has made both nader & his wife feel there is no other alternative.
their children are painfully young (their eldest is just 7), and in one year, they've suffered acute malnutrition and dehydration, displacement, living in a tent for nearly a whole year, barely escaping death from bombs. returning home for them meant returning to ruins & the daily battle for just basic supplies hasn't ended.
for both parents, all it means is a continuation of suffering neither can put their children through, especially when there is no certainty of the ceasefire holding. please help my friend & his family to evacuate

iof shut down the gaza border again, cutting it off from aid, again. the cost of daily living will likely rise again. please donate to the people working to make things a little more equitable in the face of death:

probably going to be a very unpopular (and long) post, but whatever here goes (scroll to the very bottom for a tldr):
i’ve been a die hard fan and supporter of @taylorswift since pretty much the start of her career. i’ve loved everything she stood for, i loved her music, her representation for women and the queer community.
however, these past few months since the unyielding g*nocide of palestinians committed by israhell has only grown, documented and shared to the world by palestinians themselves, taylor’s silence is now becoming deafening. those tears she cried for women’s rights in miss americana, the way she urged her fans to register to vote so women don’t lose their rights, where is that woman now? where is That taylor when there are women being k*lled, SA’d, miscarrying, having to use tent scraps as sanitary pads, becoming childless, being ethnically cleansed off this earth? where is her avocation for Those women? and not just palestinian women, but women in other colonized countries as well.
she has not spoken up since miss americana about anything that she has previously advocated for, not just women’s rights, but LGBTQ+ rights as well. when queer and trans people have been losing their rights across the u.s., where was she?
i know a lot of people will say “she was protecting herself,” but she is one of the most powerful and influential women in this world, what could she possibly need protection from? she is a white privileged billionaire, and when her fans are asking that she speak up about this g*nocide, she chooses to ignore us.
and i don’t want to hear that she doesn’t owe us an explanation, because she absolutely does. it is us, her fans, that support her in her career financially, we care about the content she puts out into the world and we spend our money on it, we elevate her voice and her art, so why do we not deserve to know if she supports palestinian? why does she not in return listen to and elevate the voices of her fans?
there have been countless artists and celebs who’ve spoken up for and supported palestine—lauren juaregui, kehlani, renee rapp, macklemore, avantika, and more—who are much smaller than taylor swift, and yet their careers have not been impacted negatively, instead they have even more support of those who do not condone this g*nocide. her career will absolutely not be impacted by showing her support, so again, why does she continue to be silent?
i am tired of hearing nothing but silence from taylor. i don’t want to support someone who is okay with thousands of people being k*lled, who is okay with the starvation that 1.4 million palestinians are facing, who is okay with palestinian men being tortured in concentration camps, who is okay with 600,000+ children and orphans trapped in rafah, all by the doing of colonizers, the western powers, and by our own president.
tldr; i am calling taylor swift out for being a hypocrite these last few years, and especially these last few months, when it comes to advocating for women and her silence in the g*nocide of the palestinian people. she really could have made a difference with the power she holds. @taylorswift @taylornation
i’m not very active on here, but i will not be posting taylor content, and on the occasions that i do post, it will be to advocate for palestinians, as well as those who openly support the cause. (i am much more active on my other social media accounts, and if you would like to follow to see more constant palestine content, please let message me and let me know!)
