A-typical April

A-typical April

I want to start a thing.

I love my ML fandom. I do, more than any other fandom I have been a part of.

But in the last 3 months I have seen a distressing amount of posts come across my dash of people feeling that Non- Lovesquare things get overlook or worse actively criticized and even harassed. This is a problem. Not because people shouldn’t like what they like ::aggressively cuddles my Marichat square::: but because there are SO MANY THINGS that are great about this show that aren’t JUST the love square.

SO I am proposing a thing. A-typical April. a slew of prompts and challenges that have nothing to do with the lovesquare. Lets celebrate the friendships, the kwamis, the families, other ships- canon or noncanon!, heck the villains! I will personally put aside time to have a day of Gorilla appreciation! That man needs more love!

As we get closer and closer to the premiere of season 2 let’s take some time to appreciate everything else wonderful in the ML fandom!

Anyone else up for it?

Staff needs to listen

Anyways I’ve been getting over 380,000 notes a month easily and now I’m getting supposedly less than 1,000 a day. The ‘best stuff first’ feature has downgraded this site a tremendous amount, not only is the feature destructive to smaller blogs, they also somehow fucked up the activity page, and is no longer accurate or useful.

Staff on tumblr rarely responds to unanimous disapproval unless shoved in their face, so I’m asking you guys to spread this post, and others like it around as much as possible as to get the message into their thick heads - that this greatly devolves the tumblr experience.

This comic strip nails why poor Americans aren’t just “asking for handouts.”

America’s poor don’t have it easy.

They’re subjected to a range of false stereotypes: They’re accused of being lazy and of abusing drugs, among others. Researcher Paul C. Gorski examined these perceptions in his 2013 book, “Reaching and Teaching Students in Poverty: Strategies for Erasing the Opportunity Gap,” and found these notions aren’t based in reality.

I firmly believe that Yuuri speaks better English than Viktor.

Like they’re both fluent and speak VERY GOOD English, but Yuuri just got off a five-year stint in a country where English is the predominant language, where he had to speak English every day just to function in society. Viktor’s experience with English is pretty much limited to international competitions and if he forgets a word, it’s whatever, because half the other people there aren’t as fluent as him anyway.

This headcanon doesn’t really matter most of the time bc I write them communicating in English (Which they canonically do, it being their only shared language) so obviously they effectively have the same amount of fluency that I do, but I just love the idea that sometimes, out of no where, Viktor will pause in the middle of conversation and get this look on his face.

“Did you forget the word?” Yuuri will ask kindly.

“Yes.”

“What’s the word in Russian?”

“Turtsiya.”

“Okay, I’m not familiar with that one. Describe it?”

“Evil chicken.”

“Turkey?”

Viktor beams. “Yes! Turkey!”

Holiday relaxation spell

Fill a bowl with water and a floating candle. Light the candle and gaze into the flame. Gaze for awhile into the candle flame and let your mind go blank. Feel your stress pouring into the water and feel your body relax as the stress leaves it. Imagine the bowl is a deep well and is drinking in whatever it is in your life that is causing unease, discomfort or stress. Breathe deeply. Sprinkle dried basil over the water, and then chant softly before the candle flame:

I am calm.  I am at peace with my surroundings.  I am whole and well.  By the powers of earth, air, fire, and water, I am free.

Sit before the bowl for several more moments. Let the candle burn till it burns out. Pour the water onto the ground and feel your stress and anxiety going with it. Tell yourself that the earth has taken your stress away. Give thanks.

Reminder: Girls/women can be abusive too. If you have been abused by a girl/woman it’s okay, you aren’t weak because of it. If you are in an abusive relationship, leave. If you feel like you can’t, ask for help or talk to someone.
