The hippopotamus, nicknamed Owen and weighing about 300 kilograms, was swept down Sabaki River into the Indian Ocean, then forced back to shore when tsunami waves struck the Kenyan coast on December 26, before wildlife rangers rescued him.

“It is incredible … a-less-than-a-year-old hippo has adopted a male tortoise, about a century old, and the tortoise seems to be very happy with being a ‘mother’,” ecologist Paula Kahumbu, who is in charge of Lafarge Park , said.

“After it was swept away and lost its mother, the hippo was traumatized. It had to look for something to be a surrogate mother. Fortunately , it landed on the tortoise and established a strong bond. They swim, eat and sleep together,” the ecologist added. “The hippo follows the tortoise exactly the way it followed its mother. If somebody approaches the tortoise, the hippo becomes aggressive, as if protecting its biological mother,” Kahumbu added.

“The hippo is a young baby, he was left at a very tender age and by nature, hippos are social animals that like to stay with their mothers for four years,” he explained.

John Reese - For your entertainment [HUMOR]

I’m pretty sad because this video of mine got blocked on Youtube because of the song. I spent months making it. And it had a lot of views on YT. I have it posted on vimeo (above), but most people don’t watch on vimeo.

YT is beyond irritating on copyright for songs. I just don’t understand it. These kind of fanvids are doing nothing but creating free advertising for the copyright holders. When I watch a fanvid on YT and hear a song I like, it makes me want to go buy it. So why on earth would the copyright holders want to block it? I just don’t get it. And something else that really frustrates me is that I have seen numerous other videos posted on YT with this song that don’t get blocked. So why mine? Grrrr. SO unbelievably frustrating. 

I know most of you probably couldn’t care less about this, but it just really gets me down when I worked so hard on a video only to have it blocked like that. I had so many other new videos I was working on and it makes me lose my inspiration. Sigh. Well, for anyone who cares, you can still watch and embed this video from the vimeo version (above).
