Well ladies, gentlemen and everyone awesome... Here it is.
A cover of Achy Breaky Heart by Billy Ray Cyrus, instrumental snatched from Sing King
Lyrics by me, image in the video by me lol, credits to @littleoceanbabe for inspiration! Lyrics below the cut:
You can tell the world you never was my Sherl
You can take the business when I'm gone
Or you can tell the fans just what a fool I've been
And laugh and joke about me on the phone
You can tell my brain go back to Ukraine
You can tell my feet to hit the floor
Or you can tell my lips to tell my fingertips
They won't be reaching out for you no more
But don't tonk my Jonk, my honky tonky Jonk
I just don't think he'd understand
And if you tonk my Jonk, my honky tonky Jonk,
He might sing country songs again
You can tell Mariana I moved to Arkansas
You can tell Archie to bite my leg
Or tell your bro Mycroft though we don't see him oft
He never really liked me anyway
Or tell your mate Lestrade, tell her that I'm not hard
Myself already knows I'm not okay
Or you can tell my eyes to watch out for my mind
It might be walking out on me today
But don't tonk my Jonk, my honky tonky Jonk
I just don't think he'd understand
And if you tonk my Jonk, my honky tonky Jonk,
He might sing country songs again
Don't tonk my Jonk, my honky tonky Jonk
I just don't think he'd understand
And if you tonk my Jonk, my honky tonky Jonk,
He might sing country songs again
Don't tonk my Jonk, my honky tonky Jonk
I just don't thonk he'd understonk
And if you tonk my Jonk, my honky tonky Jonk,
He might sing country songs again

The reaction to this season could be summarised as:
Guys, even YouTube videos explain how stories work, will tell you this magical phase:
The couples often break up in the second act.
Remember the homework Neil sent about watching P&P? Okay, think very hard and remember... What happened in the second act of that story?
It's not queerbaiting, you are just allergic to conflict, honestly.
I literally work teaching children and yet I think the kids are less obtuse about things than this fandom. And if I am talking to you are it's because I am repeating, many times, that you need to cool off and think before you go for your pitchforks to the writers for obeying basic rules of storytelling.
we need to start referring to abbot as the gregoner. please. i think it would really improve the political climate. thank you for your time, as you were. <3
yes sir. incredibly. thank you for your service.
So. The trailer is out. Happy?
I’m saying this as a preemptive statement: if crowley and aziraphale kiss……great. if not it does not count as queerbaiting bc they’re literally canonically in love grow the fuck up I will be hiding under ur floorboards if y’all start acting up <3
5.64%,,, not quite at the gaiman level but i can’t say that i’m upset with my score
I got the Top 4.47% on this English Vocabulary test
dallon best songwriter comfirmation
although i don’t particularly want more music from the band the ending hurts the 12 year old part of my soul a bit
ok im ready to post all of my panic at the disco hot takes and im ready to face the consequences of doing so
1. viva las vengeance is not a bad album
2. pray for the wicked is a bad album except for like 4 songs and high hopes is dreadful
3. dallon was the best songwriter (no offence to ryan but i dont have a goddamn clue what that man was talking about half of the time, i do love his voice though)
4. vices and virtues bonus tracks are better than the actual album
5. i think the obsession with ryan (especially from fans that weren’t even around when he was actually in the band) is strange, like leave him alone and let him get on with his life
6. brendon continuing panic after ryan, jon, and spencer left wasn’t the horrible backstabbing act yall make it out to be, they all left on their own accord and brendon was a part of the band so why shouldn’t he have been allowed to carry on? i do believe he should have given up the panic name when it became a solo project though
7. the obsessive hate is weird as hell, i know you think you’re being funny but if you go out of your way to harass panic fans just because you dont like them anymore then all you’re doing is making yourself look like an asshole (same goes for panic fans who go after idkhow fans because of whatever the hell is going on with dallon, just let people like what they like and if you don’t want to see it, block them)
9. pretty. odd was the best album even though i don’t understand a lot of the lyrics, they make me feel things and i’ll love that album until the day i die (especially northern downpour and behind the sea)
and before anybody takes this as me being one of those “brendon didnt do anything wrong!!! leave him alone!!1!1” people, i definitely know that brendon has done wrong, i just believe that humans do dumb shit and they can learn from the dumb shit they do and change
Steve is at Eddie's gig.

i can't tell if this is 2022 or 2014 anymore
I really reallyyy wanna see Joe and Kit as Crowley and Aziraphale <3

so as i’ve been reading fics for ofmd, yk, as you do, i can’t help but notice that a lot of the dialogue (especially from stede) in these fics is very aziraphale like? it almost feels like since we associate ineffable husbands with blackbonnet we’ve also just decided that the dialogue should look the same for them.
i can’t really pinpoint it better than this but the way stede says stuff like “dear” or “darling boy” in the fics because canonically stede doesn’t talk to ed like that. obviously i’m not against it but it IS exactly how aziraphale talks to crowley in good omens, canonically.
i think it probably has something to do with the cinematic parallels that everyone keeps pointing out between the two, but has anyone else noticed that?
thought it was interesting, anyway, carry on~
the way you’re not wrong...

Guys for the love of fuck can we please stop treating queer rep like a competition? And yes this is 100% about that cringe ass ask someone sent Neil Gaiman.
im actually not done talking about ed being autistic so here's my incomplete list of evidence
• he has little comfort items like the red silk and stede's cravat that he wears
• tries to "win" social interactions
• he doesn't notice that they're making fun of him in episode 5 until the dinner, and even then he only realizes bc stede taught him what passive aggression looks like
• when antoinette touches his beard he recoils and then everything in the room gets louder, the laughter is more obnoxious, and ed is visibly upset. that's sensory overload for sure
• stede and ed trade advice with each other because they're both autistic and they've picked up on different social rules based on their experiences
- stede teaches ed about "polite society" and things like passive aggression
- the fact that stede teaches him about dining was especially interesting because the rules of dining etiquette are unnecessarily convoluted, even to a lot of allistic people. it feels like a good way to convey how confusing all the unspoken rules of social interaction can be for autistic people in a way that an allistic audience could relate to
- ed does the same thing for stede; he teaches him how to sword fight and the basics of piracy, yes, but he also teaches him the unspoken rules of piracy that most people follow without question. for example, the episode with calico jack when they're leaving the ship and stede suggests going for a nature walk and ed starts to explain that "with this crowd, you probably want something a little more-" before being interrupted. he's teaching stede what "normal" pirates do
• masking!! this is a huge one bc it's kind of ed's whole deal. blackbeard is a persona he developed and puts on so that people will view him in a certain light and treat him accordingly and we only see him take that mask off around specific people, particularly stede. the beard itself is a big part of this for a couple reasons:
- (to clarify, his beard is also a metaphor for his sexuality and coming to terms with his relationship with stede but here im just focusing on this through the lens of his autism)
- from a practical standpoint, it hides a lot of his face. it literally masks his facial expressions to a degree, which can be comforting for some autistic people because we often feel the need to perform emotions in a way that's palatable to allistic people
- when he confesses his feelings to stede, it's after he shaves the beard off. he's fully showing himself to stede as ed and not blackbeard, and even refers to himself in third person ("what makes ed happy is you,") to show that the mask is fully off and he isn't acting as his carefully crafted persona
- finally, in the last episode when stede is gone, he decides to go back to being blackbeard. he puts his metaphorical mask back on. he goes so far as to draw on a new beard to symbolize that he's covering up his true self again. the beard is such an integral part of his persona that it's even in the name!
anyway, ed is autistic and so is stede. thanks for coming to my ted talk
ed “no one has ever allowed me to just be myself” teach and stede “no one has ever loved me for who i am” bonnet finding love together is something that can be so personal
ugh but i wanna cry now
why dont you watch taika waititi and rhys darby kiss and plan to escape the english together and maybe you'll calm down.
the gay pirate show has taken permanent residence in my mind and for WHAT REASON
One of the reasons I love ofmd is because Ed and Stede are both repressed in ways that are inherently exclusive to queer men but in completely different ways. It makes the way they learn from each other so interesting and informs what they need from each other.
Stede’s able to present himself in a way that reads as queer by modern standards his whole life because of his aristocratic status, but he doesn’t want it. (And yes modern standards matter in a historical fiction show that has lines like “ew, lame” 😂). His whole life he’s been blamed by everyone in his life for not being “man” enough, not being able to even fake it till he makes it. The fact that his queerness is worn on his sleeve at all times with only the virtue of period typical straight obliviousness keeping him hidden makes it so he almost kind of has a “been there done that” attitude about it. After all, it only ever lead to bad things.
Meanwhile Blackbeard is the exact masculine ideal Stede thinks he (himself) should be, and he doesn’t want that. Ed’s the perfect definition of a “real man” but it’s something he was forced to hastily toss up like a wall for defense decades ago without actually considering what makes him feel like himself. He lights up at the promise of colorful fancy clothes, he likes being soft and kind of ridiculous, he wants to be the one who’s wooed by someone he likes. But he can’t ever really have an outlet for those things because he accidentally became the literal poster child of traditional masculinity. (It’s the classic “ran into the closet so hard you broke through the wall and don’t even know where tf you are now” lol)
So what happens in episode 5?
Ed let’s Stede “save the day” instead of him which culminates in a ship on fire (peak swash buckling), and Stede let’s Ed stand under the moonlight and basically hear that he’s pretty.
sobbing actual tears 🥺

its actually kind of funny to think about the fact that stede didnt know he was gay. because bestie ur whole crew is. im like 98% sure lucius has tried to suck stede's dick at least once. everyone's limp wristing all over the place. you're flying pride flags baby. queer people flock to each other. who else is "uncomfortable in a married state" and leaves their rich wife and kids to be a pirate. literally only gay people. what did you THINK you were doing stede.
