There's something so deeply profound about Suzume's ideas about how people love the land, and how in return the land loves its people. That the separation of people from the places they love is a trauma so deep, not just in the people but in the land itself, these lonely places that are abandoned, that it ripples and builds and breaks the world again.

That you heal that wound by remembering how people loved that place, and then let it go. You remember the love and happiness. And then you return it to the gods. That you grieve the land like you grieve a person- you have to remember it, love it, before you can really heal from its loss.

Headcanon that Percy gets a job at an aquarium that rehabilitates sea creatures and every creature in the facility is so incredibly happy to have their Sea Prince taking care of them.

Until he says he can’t swim with them because it’s not allowed and he’d get in trouble if he does (looking at you Myrtle the Sea Turtle) and won’t be allowed to take care of them.

The creatures that are allowed to return to the sea throw the biggest fit at Poseidon because they want to play with Percy and properly thank him for caring for them and next shift Percy works he’s surprised to find Dr. Po Seidon talking with his boss about letting him swim with the animals.

Myrtle is very smug
